Also neat observation: the hit/block effects are design to be very easily distinguishable to help with hit confirming. The visual effect for hits is orange while the block effect is blue; these are complementary or opposite colors. The audio cue is high pitched for hits and low pitched for blocks.

When you first start practicing hit confirms it will feel impossible, as if your rate of properly confirming is no better than random chance. Then you go through a stage where your confirms may even be less consistent than random and you'll wonder how that's possible, and if you're meant to play fighting games at all. Then you'll start to see progress and feel the code of the matrix flow through you as you begin confirming at a rate higher than average. It's during this phase where it starts to feel physically good in your head as your brain rewires itself and gives you little chemical rewards for achieving a new skill. Then you'll get to the phase where you can confirm correctly 10/10 times, and you know you're ready to wreck shop.

This guide was very helpful for me, thanks infexious. I ended up practicing my meaty timing as well at the same time by using the recoveries after the combo to practice the timing. Two birds with one stone!

This is the hardest thing for me to learn. What helped me though recently is reverting my expectations. Basically, I was initially expecting a block but reacting to a hit with a combo, but now I am expecting a hit but reacting to a block by stopping my attack. This is probably not helpful to anyone else, but this "mind trick" worked for me.

Usually, the best way to use it is by using a medium followed by a light normal. If the first hit hit, then you just automatically continue with your combo. What I like to do is either introducing additional 3f trap or option selects like command grab or throws if the opponent block the sequence.

Maybe a video about waking up? I notice that a lot of players having difficult time knowing which wake up recovery to use, so do I sometimes. Like, when to do no recovery? Or when to do back recovery. And what advantages or disadvantages it gives? Thanks.

These videos are really great. I don't really have criticism because these are really great as it is. Easy to watch, easy to understand. A perfect tutorial from a professional that really understands the mechanics. That being said, I do have suggestion, should you be interested to take it into consideration. While these are great explanations, I feel that maybe some real match examples would be effective. It can kinda give the advice a bit more clarity on how important these skills really are. For this kind of video, I think the obvious player to showcase would be Punk, considering his insane and consistent hit confirms make his game play what it is. It might make it a bit more tedious in editing and its not 100% necessary, so take it as you will.

Reacting to continue the combo when the hit is confirmed and not to continue the combo when the hit is not confirmed is very hard but can be done overtime. I wish we have your videos before. Thanks!

Well let's not forget that this takes a ton of practice and good reflexes, and as an older fellow myself, I may not be as sharp as I was when I was younger, as it's a known fact that the older you get the more your reflexes slow down.

Thanks Infexious! Been struggling with this and trying to figure out how quickly to buffer the motions to cancel into a special. Would it be possible to maybe discuss how pros decide how to play a matchup and what are they looking at to make that decision? I have trouble with understanding when pros say a matchup is 6-4, or 5-5. If it's too much, don't worry about. Thanks again for all these videos Infexious!

It was only indirectly mentioned but I can see people new to hit confirming have trouble realizing that the reason you do 2 normal attacks before cancelling into a special is to give yourself more time to hit confirm the first attack.
