Thanks Danny. I love the photo on the Carter card. I was shocked by the Henderson grade. I knew it was a great condition card, but I always feel like I'm missing something for cards that seem that nice.
Excellent reveal John! Love that 1973 Carew. It's been fun watching you build a great collection. My last eye exam showed improvement in my vision in my 60's.
You are a pro with this 3x glasses. Well done. Very cool cards. And a cliffhanger!? I don’t think I can handle the suspense. Hope all is great with you, John!
Thanks Doug. I'm sorry I left you hanging like that, but that was all the information that was ready to reveal at this time. I'm doing just fine as I have had zero gift card issues to deal with.
Thanks Brian. Don't you dare tease such a thing!!! LOL Although I guess if they did, my only option would be to patiently wait for cards in the current label.
Joe is a card Doctor!!! 😮 I saw on video, Joe, I mean someone colored in the dent. Great reveal John- love the Ricky at the end!!! BAM!!! Pretty Ricky!!!
Just wait until the full story comes out. I will not rest until we get this all out in the open. I was shocked by just how nice that Rickey card was. I'm not used to handling "pack fresh" type cards.
Sweet cards and nice grades! Ha! Congrats on the Ricky! I’m honored that you got it from me! Love the Greenberg and Mize! Check that 62 Cepeda with a black light, should show where the color was added. I’m happy for Joe that the Carter wasn’t altered too! 🤣
Thanks Jim. Thanks again for the gorgeous Rickey card. The black and white cards do look awesome in their tux. I picked up a hand held black light and see what you mean. One unaltered card clearly will not exonerate him fully. LOL
Love it at the end with the reading glasses after the explanation and the call about the card. You should do stand-up! And you did pretty good with the grades to boot.
Thanks Todd. I definitely don't think I'm stand up caliber. Those folks have got to be on point. I do alright trying to keep my department meetings for work from being boring at least.
John, I was most excited about your 1948 Bowman Johnny Mize crossing straight over to SGC, my clubby! Great reveal and some great grades! I look forward to you getting to the bottom of the card altering scandal! 🤣👊
I hope to send an order off to them sometime in the near future, I have a few I think will look nice in a TUX. Great cards John. I kind of like the older labelled ones myself.
Good luck with your upcoming order. I think almost any vintage looks better in a tux. I would have been fine with the older labels, provided it were possible to make everything look that way, but it did not seem to be the case. For me, making them all the same was the required end goal.
Very nice reveal John. Except for the Cepeda, I think you did well. // It looks like you have gotten real good at "guess-ta-mating" the grades of raw cards. It's a good skill to have. // I understand the eyesight thing. It happens to all of us. // By the way, for the cross-overs, did you crack them out of the slab yourself, or did you let SGC do it and thus let them see the previous grade? // Thanks for the neat video.
Thanks George. I won't let Joe get away with it. I do feel decently confident now with my grade predictions, other than the cases requiring vision enhancement. LOL I have never cracked a slab in my life. It feels like SGC grades the card fairly regardless of what the other slab said. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I think from the time the post office told me it arrived, it was 3 or 4 business days before SGC told me it was checked in. Then I think it was about 5 business days after that before it was ready to ship. So I think they are running pretty close with it still being 10 business days or less.
Nice cards John, they all look great in SGC slabs. For the cross-overs I was curious if you cracked the slabs yourself or let SGC do it? I have a few myself that I want to send in. People have different philosophies on which way to go believing that showing SGC the grade may influence the SGC grade.
Thanks Dave. I have never cracked a slab in my life. In total I think I have now crossed 4 PSA, 3 CSG, and 2 Beckett over to SGC and for each I feel like they gave them a fair shake for my experience with how SGC grades.
The Johnny Mize card looks great. As does the Hank Greenberg. ''Say it ain't so, Joe!'' Color added to a 1962 Topps Orlando Cepeda is scary. I don't understand the color added. I mean I understand, what that implies, but yeah I don't see it. SGC will have to teach me how to, have the trained eye. I'm 35. And, have been wearing glasses since I was 12. Lol.
Thanks Andrew. It seems there is a small ink mark filled in just to the left of his hat. I ordered a cheap handheld black light to shine on it for the follow up video. Sorry that you never had the benefit of good eyesight. LOL And Joe did momentarily redeem himself with the Carter card. We shall see what comes of the upcoming investigation.
It is a great looking card. I'm just not into collecting variations when they look the same on the front. In those cases, I'll always opt for the cheaper version. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I feel a bit better about grading . Still not sure if with who , when I will grade my shoe boxes . Only started collecting ,pulling in 70's and 80's and no later.
David, my entire adult collecting has been about making something beautiful for my wall to admire every day, since after Covid I now work from home most days each week. My choice of SGC was first about the fact that when I started I did not feel comfortable buying ungraded cards online and I liked the way vintage looked in the SGC slab. As I got more comfortable with vintage, I eventually incorporated sometimes buying raw and grading myself and to this point my experience with SGC has been nothing but positive. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I will happily have the slab on my wall. Joe’s my friend so I have a new game to play with this one that is just as serious as my teasing of Theo about the Clemente card grade. 😂
It does seem that way. I guess I picked a good time to switch to a new editor that allowed me to output in HD so everyone could spot what I missed. Thanks for watching and commenting.
