In whatever way you may find this video helpful, I'm happy to know that. Thanks for sharing that, and for watching. And good luck with your submission! (SGC? PSA? Another grader?)
@@jpcards That is one of the decisions I am trying to make. The cards I want to grade are Micheal Jordan Ultra Scoring Kings and Bird/Erving/Magic Topps.
Been searching "SGC Reveal" for the past few days and ran out of videos to watch. This is the video I needed at the right time! Great cards and grades! Keep up the great content!
USPS was saying a Monday delivery until late Friday night, so I'm glad they came through and I could post at just the right time then! I appreciate you watching.
@@jpcards Have you received SGC package during the mid- week? I seem to only remember mine are shipped from SGC on Thursday/Friday. Best case Saturday delivery, worse case Monday delivery. Thanks.
@@jfretless I think one time I got them back on a Thursday, all the other times I think has been Saturday, but not 100% certain. I have sent them out on a Friday or Saturday each time. Hope this helps.
This stuff is all great looking. I don't think you can be disappointed at all on anything there. All of it is worth it.....That Killebrew is SICK man. I like that card too
In the end you're right -- even for the two I kind of whiffed on. I do really like that Killebrew. I have a couple more "original" vintage buys from my late teens that I'm on the fence about grading... but I'll probably come around, lol.
Great cards and return from SGC! I really love the 53 Bowman set. I've actually got a contest going right now to guess the grades for my order currently in Boca if you are interested. Congrats again on your order John!
Very nice cards and good return. I do really like SGC for vintage. I am also looking for the Goudey Durocher Cardinals card. I also once saw a super rare #106 miss numbered '33 Goudey Durocher but it was not for sale.
Growing up hearing Rizzuto several nights a week doing Yankees games, I am very happy that SGC confirmed it to be a very nice card. There was some nostalgia riding on that one. Thanks for watching!
Peter, excellent reveal! 1970 Clemente 6 is pretty crazy, mines a 3.5 unfortunately. The centering is off but everything else on yours is cherry! I can tell, the cards you pick up have great coloring. Very nice! Love the Musial, it’s definitely on my radar. Thanks for sharing!
Hey John, love the selections. I've got the Harmon '65 but I bought it already graded. But I love that card. The surfaces of these cards look top notch! It's very refreshing to see some of these that aren't always submitted. That Durocher looks fantastic and the colors on The Scooter look amazing! I've got my submission still at SGC so shouldn't be long til I get them back. Thanks for sharing John
Nice return. Looks fair on all cards, always tough to say when looking at a video on your phone, but overall grading is gonna be within a half to full # swings based on the human element involved with all grading companies. Take the good with the bad 🇺🇲⚾️✌🏽
John, you had really good return! The Jackie and Koufax are really solid grades and great-looking cards. Same with the Rizzuto, Clemente and Killebrew, overall think you had a fantastic return. Congratulations!
That was a nice surprise! Seeing quality raw cards like that present themselves unexpectedly at the LCS for a very reasonable price, and then getting that solid grade, that has definitely become one of my favorite parts of my hobby 2.0 experience. That was the case with the Koufax too.
Nice cards, congrats. To me, the ‘55 Walker looked too OC for a grade higher than a 7. As for why it did not get higher than a 6, realize so much of this is a crapshoot anymore - plus, they look at things under magnification. SGC grades a lot of ‘79 Topps and all vintage years, so I would not think any cards in your sub necessarily received special treatment. In general - surface wear is evaluated on the big things: Creases, wrinkles. I would not think the reason a card gets a lower grade is a stray print spot here, or borders more off-white there or slight coloring variation or something minor on the back. At least that has never been my experience - either with SGC or PSA. If I would offer any advice - don’t let the turkeys get you down with grading. Yes, there may be a reason a card did not grade as high as you expected, but it’s also sometimes just totally random. A couple of years ago I had a ‘65 Mantle in an SGC 5 that looked a lot nicer than that to me, so I popped it and sent it back to them. They sent it back a 6.5. 😅 If you like a card, don’t let a number on a flip ruin that for you just because it got a 5 and not a 6 or something like that. I take the “professional” in professional grading with a huge grain of salt. The truth is, many collectors have been doing this for years longer than graders, and at the end of the day eye appeal will always be subjective. Good stuff, thanks again.
I stopped using PSA on vintage for my mantles and I use csg they give me usually a grade higher than PSA and pays 90-95 % PSA comps for the same grade 💥💥💥
First, thanks for watching and subscribing! Second, you've probably heard "collect what you like" before, but it definitely applies in vintage. Might be good to start with a favorite team, or player. Or if you're really drawn to a particular set, that could be a good way to start, too. Third, Henry offers great advice here. Most of all, have fun!
