First grade shown at 2:55. This submission had a little bit of everything -- some thrill of victory, and a touch of agony of defeat. Thanks for checking it out, and if you sub or are thinking about it, I hope these reveal videos are helpful in some way.

Wow, some really nice examples and grades there! My two cents on the 72 Mays is the top to bottom centering is off and held it back. Still a nice copy, just not enough bottom border

Glad to see this submission John! Always exciting getting these back. I understand trying to at least get your money back by these grades/fees. I try not to get too down on Authentic grades. A lot of them that I own are the best looking ones that I have. They are just for my collection so it's not too much trouble, just as long as it looks good. But it's always different for everyone. Beautiful 1954 cards!

Thanks as always for the comment. I will say that given the Spahn had previously served 30 years in screwdown-holder prison, the card has never looked better!

Great cards! Wow. And nice first t206 and cool to have in a sovereign 👍
@jpcards
@jpcards Год назад
Thank you -- the Sovereign does make the T206 even more interesting. Now I have a really janked up Tolstoi on my watch list that doesn't break the bank. Even though I have no real interest in getting it, you just don't see too many of those rarer backs.

@@jpcards totally - those are so fun to grab. I don’t have a tolstoi but if I can I always try and grab a polar bear or old mill or sovereign over a sweet cap or Piedmont. Good luck grabbing that one!

Great reveal John! Overall think you received some really solid grades. I am also a big fan of the 54 set, your Berra and Hodges look fantastic in their new slabs. My favorite might be your Elston Howard that is a really sharp looking card. Loved the Wide world of Sports thrill if victory and agony of defeat line! I posted my return earlier this week, getting cards back from SGC is always a rush, congrats on this return.

Thanks! Both the Elston and the Thurman just jumped out at me at that card show. I would say almost any '54, with all the splashes of background color, look great in a tux. And I guess Jim McKay just popped into my head!

Congratulations on this sub, I wouldn't sweet the authentic Spahn, it's the memory it represents. I'm getting ready to send in some of my original stuff, 69 Mantle, 64 Mays, 60 Clemente, 66 Koufax not really worried what grade they receive just want them slabbed. Love the 58 All-star set.

@jpcards Год назад
Wow, you have some great ones going out -- there's something about the '66 Koufax portrait that I just really like. I submitted that a few months ago and it came back a 5, which I was pretty happy about. And yes, great memories indeed. Good luck!

Congrats. I'm also trying to get the '54 HOF'ers in an SGC5....but cool on you for having the whole set!

Thanks -- it was a really fun quest, and I'm still rather surprised at myself for completing it. Only 250 cards with no Mantle and several other HoFers certainly helped! It made it seem more attainable from the start. Good luck!

The Munson card is a beauty. Whenever you can get an 8 or better on anything older than 1980, it's a good day. And really liked the Gil Hodges. A 6 grade on stuff from the early to mid 1950s is truly awesome.

This video should've been 5-10 minutes long. The world doesn't need to heave every damn thought in your head, get to the f*cking point.
