man, I know they say it's fine to interrupt the announcer for game commentary, but...this guy seemed like he just waited to talk ONLY when the announcer was-especially in the later part of the run >.
They do, plus that most of them are kind of speedrunners themselves, like spikevegeta for example. But i'm not sure if the runner are able to hear the announcer in the headset, i mean if they need to focus on the game.
Damn I can understand that there is a donation announcer, but at least can you pick someone who can read a whole donation comment without struggling on every five words?
The announcer during the Super Mario Sunshine 100% run at AGDQ 2015 was way worse. He didn't even articulate properly, so foreign watchers probably had a lot of troulbe understanding him.
I kinda didn't like how one of the guys (Might have been the runner?) kept interrupting the announcer. It seemed disrespectful towards the announcer and donator :/
ScootsNB That's the way it always is with GDQ, the runner saying stuff about the game takes priority, but when there's nothing to say they read donations. If there's anything important about the game the runner/couch is supposed to interrupt.
Yeah to be fair, I think they put a little more guidelines in place about donations cause they start getting so backed up. But still you get to runs like Twilight Princess this year especially, donations got hella backed up cause info about the run takes priority usually over donations.
and the fact that the player cant hear the announcer. Thank god they fixed that.and some announcer ask when they could speak to avoid speaking in important spots
You get the nerds with no personality, but you do also get the guys with the sense of humour. There was a Donkey Kong 64 race where the audience were singing along to the intro, the sonic R run, people were singing the tracks and there was that Star Wars run where the runner did a gangster rap at the end! Thumbs up to those guys, they make this watchable.
I agree it's full of awkwardness because of the nerds involved, but some dork requesting a wave and having no one do it isn't considered awkward. Donators have to realize that the runners and people involved don't have to do what they request. I honestly wish they would ban it outright because of all the strange requests.
muccmaster You don't like when people try to keep things interesting? So much screen space is devoted to looking at these people sitting there and you want them to sit there and do nothing at all?
I love how grungy and her sister build a tower, a giant ray gun, zombify a towns king, kill a mole, and make an elaborate game show just to have their plans foiled within 3 hours
Lol - "ok clinker's cavern. This is a tricky part of the run". Next minute: absolutely bosses the section in less than fifty seconds. Fucking daaaaaay-am!
Was this run not meant to use cheats? Because you can use an "Open all levels" cheat in the first level, not have to worry about jinjos or jiggies, and you can go through the levels just getting notes, glowbows, and the next move, and beat the game much quicker. I'm not a speed runner, but I found this out on my first play through (late into it) and beat the game with only 35 jiggies (are used to open the first few levels, that's why I had them).
Boomer Butts I still don't get the whole idea of "no cheats allowed" - they usually enforce this when it comes to using 3rd party things, like a gameshark. But when people speedrun half life and perform the door glitch/cheat which gives them pretty much infinite health, no one complains. Why can't you use an in game feature/cheat board?(which is put in the game for that intent) I understand the whole cheating from a "play fair" argument, but no one complains when others use in-game cheats.
this run really makes me dislike these donator comments. most of them are "thanks for the runs good luck" and it's just not worth interrupting the runner. especially in this one where they barely talk. text would be better
I understand that, but the donation comments are completely unneeded. [EDIT]: Most are. Not all. The ones where they just say "good luck" are not worth interrupting the commentary
best old school game ever the need to remake the game in HD 100% the same only texture boost or some, the new banjo i dont like the old style is so mutch more fun
Funnily enough, I was soft resetting my Alpha Sapphire game while watching this and I ran into a shiny Zekrom at the 34:06 mark. No joke. o_O Anyways, very nice run!
I won't be able to donate this time around, but expect some donations in 2015! I love what you guys do and you're runs are INSANE! I've never been so happy to see my childhood annihilated! #stillcan'tbeatcloudcuckoomary love to Bonesaw, Stivity, Sig and everyone there!
The part in Cloud Cuckooland with the pot of gold, I never knew you were supposed to use Mumbo to make a rainbow and have Banjo and Kazooie cross it. I just had Kazooie use the Glide move to cross to the other side and then did the puzzle... I also never knew Mumbo's magic was A.O.E. either... t-that took a while to figure out...
He messed up a lot, but for good reason. Some of the tricks he did were really accurate, but he couldn't bump up to them, so the time was added back on. For example, the hailfire peaks lava ledge grab trick, that failed twice before he gave up, and did it the full way, which he then died due to another glitch.
I'm about a year late to the party, but it's really cool to see a run of this. I never would've even thought of some of the things he managed to do in this run.
They definitely need to fix the runner not being able to hear the announcer in future GDQ's. Even if he didn't know he was cutting him off almost every time, it is still painful and obnoxious to watch. Maybe just a light that lights up when he's reading donations or something, would be minimally distracting
there is a glitch where you break the glass right above the entrance of the factory and shoot the clockwork into it and the cutscene teleports banjo and kazooie inside
What version are you playing it on? If you are playing on Xbox, it is patched and fixed. A lot of the tricks that work on here (N64), that involve a few program errors do not work there, as they were programmed specifically to fix them.
***** Yeah, I just jumped to it, and just learned something at the same time. Well, that gap is a really tiny one, and you have to look at it from a certain angle to see, or you won't get it. Really tricky, so yeah. Thanks for the hoof!
