Good point, but working for a marketing firm and now designing for Nike - I'm simply surrounded by designers who poke fun at some of those simple auto effects. Perfectly fine to convey a fun message, but if you're paid to design, you get mocked within the design community. Didn't mean to offend any wave effect advocates or designers in particular.

WTF is Chiller? I have never heard of that before. But those "effects" you mentioned are sometimes needed to communicate a specific message, for example the wave effect can be useful for making a smile of words for an ad, just an example, or to represent water, sound, so on, it all depends on how they're used

I went to college for graphic design in a time when at least one semester of marketing/advertising was required...I see a lot of fancy looking garbage, but no "blurbs" that actually promote the product...None from the designer, anyway...He states, "That's not his job...that's the marketer's contribution..." ...No wonder the occupation is going to the Indochinese @ rock bottom bids...

no offense taken, those effects still have their use but are not meant to be abused, and the wave effect on a font looks like dog vomit where it's not needed, arc and arch are better for making badges for example... especially if the payment is in peanuts lol

It depends on whether it is the kerning or the tracking. Kerning is the space between individual letters and tracking is the over all space between all the letters.

White space=Negative space. Anyone who knows anything about visual art knows the value of negative space. This video is really ignorant and only entertaining to people who don't understand these concepts. Yes, they are throwing around some catchphrases but that in itself is not funny.
