We have had a record of cloudy weather here in Sweden recently with basically zero sun hours in the last month or so resulting in not so much astro photography. I did however get a chance to use my home observatory before that, gathering over 16 hours of data on SH2-142 or the Wizard Nebula. I wanted to share that image with you as well as show you the progress I have made from 2021 to 2023 in astro photography.
The Wizard nebula is the surrounding emission nebulosity of the open star cluster NGC 7380 in the northern circumpolar constellation of Cepheus, discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787. It is extremely difficult to observe visually, usually requiring very dark skies and an O-III filter. It is located at approximately 8 500 light years from the Sun, in the Perseus Arm of the Milky Way and it spans about 20 light years.
Data for this image: 75x300s S-II, 68x300s Ha, 53x300s O-III.
Total number of exposures 196 with a total integration time of 16.3 hours.
Processing: PixInsight with SHO palette with SHO stars.

Hi Martin, What a difference!!!! That SHO is breathtaking. I just purchased the Antlia 4.5nm SHO filter set and am extremely pleased with them, since you are hinting at getting new filters. It seems like you get more exercise shoveling snow than cutting grass. Hopefully, that snow/rain machine will turn off and give you some clean clear skies during these super long dark nights.

Thank you! Yes, hoping for better weather with 12 hours of astro dark here now. I'm stuck with my gear for the moment, maybe next season 😀

Have to say mind blowing 🤩 All I missed in the end was that you should have slowly zoomed in to the center of it 😃👌

Don´t be hard to yourself, I have seen worse 😅 But its just a tip for another video. Using some dramatic sound and slowly zoom into the best or most interesting part. Tack igen 🙏👌
