My name is Mårten and I'm an amateur astro photographer in the high coast of Sweden. I really like projects, such as buildning your own miniature home observatory, making your own cables, or integrating the telescope and mount with the home automation system. I also like to share my knowledge, even though an an amateur, and make tutorials that are suitable for both beginners and advanced amateur astro photograpers.
I'm so fascinated by the results you can get with a small telescope, patience and clear skies and want to share all of that with you. Join my journey into photographing the stars and deep sky objects by subscribing to this channel and if you want me to do a video on a specific subject, please let me know.

Love all your videos on observatory there lots off information which is useful me do you have any plans including the economical part as well Thank you
Love what you've done with the brush molding! Do you happen to have a link to the one you purchased? I cannot find anything on Amazon that is as wide as what you have. Curious as to how well it is working.
Great video, fun to watch your stats! I'll add mine beginning of next season :) Great photos too, keeps getting better and better! Also, impressive YT stats man, congrats! I'm still struggling :(
@@frosthastrophotography Hi yeah. I think one of the screws inside is stuck, and that the socket is bigger than the others, so i cant get it to grip correctly. Im not too tool-oriented so i dont really know what to do about this
@@kasperknudsen3168 Might have been damaged then? You would maybe need some screw removal tool then, because I think a bigger allen key won't fit and the normal will just make it worse?
Nice video and a great picture. Am still learning, shooting with a 585MC un cooled, a antlia quadband filter, and processing with graxpert and siril. so sill a way to go to get to the quality you do. It's good for the ambitions to see your photos and listening in.
Thank you so much! I have basic gear, but keep attention to polar alignment, focus and calibration and you will have good results. A cooled camera will make a difference, as well as mono. Good luck!
@frosthastrophotography yes, just plugged In a 5 amp. High pitched whine . Press the direction keys ...moves a mm and then switches off and goes back to initialising. Question. 0.5 Amps = 5 Amps correct.
Hi, thank you for watching. There is no such setting that I know of. Make sure date and time settings are ok in computer and mount, check daylight savings also, as well as location. Regards Mårten
Good Video. HEQ5 Pro Imaging max payload is 11kg, After the hypertune, would it be able to take 11 kg payload ? I have this mount with belt mod done by myself. I am buying the William Optics FL:T132 which is 9kg wt, and after adding all other items etc, it comes to 11.372, rounded off to 12Kg. That is the Payload, If not, then I am contemplating replacing the present steppers, with higher rating steppers, will see how to do it once I open the mount, and during Monsoons when skies will be overcast for days together. r
Many thanks for this excellent tutorial. I like your delivery and methodical approach! Two questions : 1. Does this CUDA set of software allow Pixinsight to run StarNet2 ? I currently use Starnet2 instead of StarExterminator. 2. My PC build currently already runs GPU acceleration with similar file additions and CUDA install etc. But the CUDA install is 2 years old and now does not work with PI 1.8.9-2 latest release. So....do I need to uninstall my current legacy GPU acceleration changes before I try your PI GPU acceleration install? Or can I just install your process over the top (hopefully 😊)? Thanks for your opinion. Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for watching! I don't think it works with anything else than Russel Croman apps. You can just install over, and try the repository first, that might fix everything now.
Great Video, very clear and concise processing workflow, and easy to follow, also you produce a stunning imaging with very few steps compared to some videos I watch….👏🏻👍🏻
Thank you for watching. Yeah, it's not great, but works ok I would say if you adjust it. I don't know how it performs if you constantly move and assemble your equipment since I have it stationary in my observatory.
Did you only use the 1x M.2 NVME SSD as your video shows @15:00? If so, you installed the SSD in the wrong place as it needs to go closest to the CPU (there's another M.2 slot just below the CPU that is designed for the main boot SSD) that way you will benefit from the proper speeds.
Hi! You are correct, I have moved my SSD to this location now. I did however not noticed any real performance improvement related to PixInsight for the tests that I did. But it's worth taking notice of and I will update the video description. Thanks!
@@frosthastrophotography There's a huge loss of performance as these lower slots are controlled by a different chipset. Always put your main drive closest to the CPU. If you are going to put out these tutorials please ensure you know what you are doing as others follow your guide
these are my data from a year ago. Regards StarXTerminator: Processing view: masterLight_BIN_1_9576x6388_EXPOSURE_300_00s_FILTER_O_mono_drizzle_1x_integration Initializing... WOW! Incredible speeds! But I didn't understand what you meant by 8189 by 5527 images, and from what I saw, I think you have stacked images, because I would really know how many images you have stacked with this new PC build, in order for me to get a decent spec for my new PC build that I have been trying to do
Finally, That's what I want, the number of light frames used to stack using star alignment, but I don't use drizzle file generation because I don't have Pixinsght, and instead I use Deep Sky Stacker, so maybe if you could take a couple frames like around 600 frames of the andromeda galaxy and then stacked them together with star alignment using Deep Sky Stacker (if you would like to use Deep Sky Stacker), and then use a stopwatch to mesure the time it takes to stack these light frames, It would help me a lot if you do it :)@@frosthastrophotography
Thank you! If I managed to get by using a 12-year-old laptop before this, I should be ok for a while 😀 Stay tuned for part 2 and some crazy improvements in processing times.
I would really wanna know how long does it take to image process multiple images with this new PC you've got, I'm looking forward to build a very good PC, and I wanna know the time it takes to process images, in order for me to get just the right specs for my new PC build
What worked for me was to simply rotate the telescope in the rings so that the focuser and guide scope balanced each other out. Of course everybody's setup is different, and this won't work for everybody, but it's something to consider. I just hate the idea of putting extra weight on, even if it's just a small amount, even though big-ass counter weights are pretty much standard!
