Kirtan - Bhai Lall Ji & Jatha. Bhai Lall Ji is the actual 17th generation muslim descendant of Bhai Mardana Ji (1459-1534). Bhai Mardana Ji was a follower and travelling companion of the Sikh founder Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj. He was with Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj in all of his journeys across India and Asia, which was for around fifty-four years. Bhai Mardana Ji used to play the string instrument, the Rabab, while Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj would sing shahads, paath etc. Some of Bhai Mardana Ji's shabads are in Sri Guru Granth Saihb Ji. The very first raagi acknowleged in Sikh history was Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaajs trusted friend and companion, Bhai Mardana Ji.
Bhai Lall Ji (sitting on the middle vaja) is a very knowledgeable muslim on Sikhism. He knows most of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji by heart. His father was the Hazoori Ragi at Goindwal Sahib. Bhai Lal ji is devoted to the kirtan traditions of Gurmat Sangeet. The video was taken in Amritsar, India, in the 2007.

They should have been allowed to perform Kirtan at Harimander sahib. They are descendent of Bhai Mardana, the full time companion at Guru Nanak services. They are better Keertania than many of our traditional "Raagis"

One day. How anyone without doing ardas and getting a reply from Guru sahib can give a reply is beyond me. There are four doors for a reasons. Rab de bande especially Guru Nanak ke pyare can dl hajri at harimandar sahib. Do proper Ardas and find out. No one is excluded at gods house. Especially Guru Nanaks house

Just like to add a bit of info. When Maskeen Ji (Revered Katha Wachak) used to Live in pre-partition India, he says local muslims used to come to the Gurdwara whenever there was a Muslim Raagi Jatha which means there used to be a lot a Muslim Raagis back then. Isn't it sad then that our political and relegious correctness has shunned and shut our doors to these great Non Sikhs; when all Guru Nanak Dev Ji preached was that all is GOD "Manas ki jaat sabhe aike pehchanbo" (ALL HUMANITY IS EQUL)

I see alot of comments about individuals like these, that they are not sikhs and all sorts of words. At least what ever they are, they are honestly themselves and in the open and transparent. Not l;ike alot of ragi's I know, sad to say alcohol and everything else goes, but all in the hiding, while they show something else. So wht is really the truth, its wht truth affects you, and you're therefore affected. So be affected by his love... peace n chardi kalla...
