We all know that Nene is the alpha female of the troop and Shabani has usually courted her for mating. But more recently Shabani has been pursuing Ai more. Maybe she's in estrus, who knows. Shabani has his choice for now, but Ai will someday be his sole mate. I hope, however that they keep her on birth control. I love that female gorilla. 💜🦍

Nene was such a good mother to Kiyo I’m surprised she did not take up care of Annie when Ai refused her. I also wonder, as AI’s first baby was still born AND she was only the age of Annie is now when Annie was born, maybe she would be better now. Sadly she was more motherly to Kiyo than Annie.
