Save your knees for the League please. This kid is amazing, he seems like one of the most versatile players. This video needs more clips showing his moves and shots.
+Jeff Neumann Nah I'm still not much of a fan. He's definitely improved, but at the time he wasn't the NUMBER 1 high school player in the country. He's an energy guy, plays like a 4 in a 2 guard's body.
I agree, Kentucky really has a solid program and the players seem to love living there. Calipari is a master of defensive strategy and knows how to design an offense around the types of talent he has to work with. I am most impressed with how he has them playing team ball. He recruits good kids that make good grades. UK led the SEC in wins and gpa.
Kentucky fans really like Shabazz and Calipari has a special place for him. Word has it that he has narrowed his choices to Kentucky and UCLA. I'm not sure how accurate this info. is, but I really think Kentucky would be the place for Shabazz to showcase his skills. The fast break, dribble drive and intense defense all factor into the Shabazz skill set!
looks like this guy can shoot and has handle. He dunks over everyone because he can. I'm sure he'll develop his game over time because he'll definitely be in the NBA a while
For everyone whos saying he doesn't deserve the no. 1 spot and he just dunks, I watched him play today at the Hoophall Classic, which was nationally televised on ESPN. He dropped 39 poinnts against the number 5 team in the country Dematha. Watching it you could see his versatility, athletism, and pure scoring ability. He is very deserving of his rank and has a great mid-range and outside game along with what is shown in this video. Thumbs this up for all the haters
Saw this guy at the Nevada state game, Gorman beat hug by 50 and shabazz had 3 eyeball 3's in a row and a 360 dunk. 16 of 17 shooting. 35 pts. Kid is crazy.
I saw this kid at the McD's all American game and if you think all he can do id dunk you are mistaken. He can hit from the top of the key, baseline and the4 free throw line. This kid could play in the NBA RIGHT NOW
"On the offensive end, Muhammad can score in a variety of ways, and has no problem putting up shots with a hand in his face, not being phased much by whatever defenders throw at him. He is equally capable of hitting a pull-up contested three as he is going to the basket for all sorts of runners, floaters, and reverse lay-ups, and also has a fairly advanced post game for a player his age." Those are just highlight dunks.
Ben Howland may not win championships, however he develops his players extremely well. He coached 2 current MVP level type players from Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook. He coached solid starters have or are sure to net huge salaries like Jrue Holiday, Darren Collison, Arron Afflalo. He also has coached Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Jordan Farmar and Ryan Hollins, two of which are solid backups. At UCLA Shabazz will develop into a complete player leading him to future NBA MVP talks.
Why is everyone hating on Shabazz? He just dropped 39 against 12-0 Dematha. Not all of his points were from dunks, you can't judge someone off one mixtape. It just doesn't work that way.
@forthisisdopoop I was there too, that game was so sick. That windmill at the end was insane, and i agree, no question he is the best player in the nation.
You people who are hating saying he's a bust obviously don't have any knowledge of him other than this video. He's not all left handed and he just dropped 37 points on one of the best high school teams in the country, playing on both sides of the ball. Watch him play a full game before you judge.
damn right man, i just was watching this video shortly after tony parker had signed with ucla. Those three players are going to make ucla and lead the pac 12
It's impossible to scout a player from a dunk highlight video, so there really isn't much point of praising his athleticism or criticizing the fact that he only dunks left-handed. Watching actual game tape will show his true athleticism/ability, and we probably won't see too much of that until he gets on the court at UCLA.
Shabazz, make all of us Duke Blue Devil fans happy and come to Cameron Indoor along side Austin Rivers and have the most dominant back court in all the land!!
But he's on the Wolves... if you look at the roster and the way it's set up he's a really solid fit. Rubio is one of the best passers in the league and with people like Derrick Williams and Kevin Love along with Shabazz we could have a new lob city out here in Minnesota plus he can rebound
I met his dad at the Beachball Classic. He (shabazz's dad) loves Duke. He told me when coach K visited them shabazz had chill because he wanted to commit so bad. He also hates unc and Roy Williams (his dad does). Roy was at the game and we discussed our mutual hatred for him haha. So I'm relatively certain it's a Duke recruit in hiding. His dad was laughing at how no one thinks Duke is in the picture anymore.
for those of u whos recruiting knowledge is only based off of mixtapes, let me inform u that there is no doubt that Shabazz is the best player in high school basketball. He has the highest ceiling, he's 6'6" and can play the point, he's crazy long, his court vision is elite, he can shoot from just about everywhere on the floor, hes got clamps on defense, he can pass, and he can take over a game at any time. Shabazz is the best player in the game, not the flashy but VERY erratic Aquille Carr.
This is just dunk highlights man. Shabazz has great dribble skills and he can also shoot the rock really well. He also has an NBA ready body. NBA scouts are drooling over this kid already.
You will be loved at Arizona. Example: Derrick Williams, Jerryd Bayless, Andre Igudola, Richard Jefferson, Mike Bibby, Jason Terry, Sean Elliot, the list goes on. Arizona=Automatic Ticket to the NBA.
I think Kentucky would be a great choice for Shabazz. The dribble drive suits him. Calipari takes care of these fine players and prepares them for the next level in rapid time. He also gives them a chance to really show case their skills. Plus, playing in Rupp in front of the big blue nation, and on the winningest team in the history of college basketball, is all very special!!
"starting in the 2006 Draft, high school players were not eligible to enter the draft directly after graduating high school. The rules now state that high school players will gain eligibility for draft selection one year after their high school graduation and they must also be at least 19 years old as of the end of the calendar year of the draft. Contrary to popular belief, they do not necessarily have to have at least one year of college basketball"
Been waiting for this kid to go into college and his already made a name for himself, his my next favorite after kobe retires, but I want him to work on his handles some more
People who criticize Bazz's decision to go to UCLA is completely ignorant. UCLA leads NCAA with the most overall championships and basketball championships. Ben Howland is a great coach who coached NBA stars today such as Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Aaron Afflalo. Not to mention Luc Richard Mbah Moute and Darren Collison. And you can't say UCLA is not a top not eduction because it's a really coveted school on a national level. Come on. Shabazz Muhammad going to UCLA is equally as impress
UCLA will have more than just Shabazz Muhammad next season they will have Kyle Anderson who's a top 5 high school prospect Jordan Adams who's a top 50 prospect and Larry Drew II who transfered from UNC. I'm no UCLA fan but they should be competitive enough to at least make a run to the Sweet 16 next year.
this kid can shoot and dominate games look him up and half these ppl in the video had no business jumping with him it's not his fault he mixtaped all these people even high scholl all-american players
i honestly dont see what's so great about this guy. all he does is go to the left side and either do a one handed slam or do a floater. u need a lot more than that to be great. but i havent seen a whole lot of this guy and havent seen a full game with him yet so im still holding my full judgement. but from what ive seen this kid isn't gonna come close too expectations
At first I was like all he only dunks nothing else but when I saw him shoot I was like damn this guy is good he going to either Kentucky duke or Syracuse
@habip4o If you followed the summer hoops scene, Shabazz Muhammad was consistently being mentioned alongside traits such as mid-range game, dominance, control, and defense. He is compared to Kobe Bryant and James Harden, who don't only dunk. He was getting a lot of points in big games against top competition. If it's possible to dunk every time down the court, I am gonna do it, I'm not gonna take a mid range J when an easier shot is available. I know the game, bruh. And I watch a lot of hoop.
We know our championship history very well, actually. We're just glad to get past the dark ages of Gillespie in our history and hopefully look forward to never having to take the NIT tourney again as a consolation prize for missing our goal of making it to the NCAA tourney.
He is going to a historic program, he's going to UCLA. Ben Howland is going to get him ready for the NBA. And besides Duke academically, you cant compare UK and KU to UCLA on top of being in a major market and his parents being close enough to be able to watch him.
