Every week, from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, Jews around the world celebrate Shabbat, the Sabbath. A day of prayer, rest, and reflection, Shabbat provides the spiritual renewal, some say, needed for the rest of the week. We spoke with Rabbi Nissan Antine and his wife, Sarah, of Beth Sholom Congregation in Potomac, Maryland about the meaning and practice of Shabbat.

I admire this family's devotion to God. I'm a Seventh- Day Adventist and the 'Seventh -Day' stands for the seventh day of the week- Saturday which is a special day of rest (from our regular labor) and worship. There is spiritual and physical blessings in keeping this day Holy.

Amen! I’m a Christian who recently started observing Shabbat. The Lord started dealing with my heart Re His natural children, Israel like a year ago and then most recently, keeping proper Shabbat and it has been such a blessing to me. I am grateful to our Lord and I pray the Lord gets the glory He deserves. May the shalom and protection of Adonai be with you and all who are here, in Jesus name! Amen. 💙🙏🏽

@@DaMensch86 hi Marty and thanks for your comments. I thought these folks were messianic for some reason. I watch these other Jewish families keep Shabbat who DO believe in Yeshua. I guess I didn’t notice that in this video. I definitely wouldn’t want to offend anyone! I will take it down. Do you believe in Jesus? Cuz true believers in the Messiah tend to correct in love considering themselves. The New covenant is very heart heavy as opposed to acts of obedience to like sin sacrifices - Yeshua’s blood sacrifice was the one and final sacrifice needed forever which is why Christians don’t really celebrate Yom Kippur but we should DEFINITELY keep the sabbath according to the NT. You can find out about Yeshua in Tanahk too! Isaiah 53, Psalms 110, anything about Melchezidek (misspelled I’m sure!). This High Priest was a shadow of the Messiah Yeshua! Anyway, u probably already know all that. May the shalom and salvation of Adonai be with you and your family! 🙏🏽💙

I think that Shabbat is a beautiful spiritual discipline and a healthy way of life. i think I understand the whole preparing for the day: pre-cooking the food, leaving on lights where needed, not leaving things like pencils where they might have to be moved, etc. New timing devices must be a blessing for food prep for the day. But what happens to the used dishware and cutlery after eating? Does it stay on the table until after the Shabbat? How much can be done which is not considered the work of cleaning? Thanks in advance for filling in some knowledge for me.

This is a powerful ritual.. in all aspects of life , God should be in every way. I am Christian but I feel like taking part of this ritual or adapting it just is an obligation, to elevate more closer to God. 🙏I mean it's not wrong? We may not be on the same religion but anyway that it is for God I don't see any wrong to it. 🙏

Amazing. This is what was commanded in the bible ( Torah) that we observe and keep the shabbat for it is set apart from the other days as a holy day of rest. The world must start with observing the shabbat then start to observe biblical feastings (as mentioned in Leviticus 23:1-4) and do away with the pagan feasts that this world subjects us to such as christmas and easter for they were not commanded in the bible but are traditions of man with deep roots into paganism. Stay woke people!!.. follow the teaching that have been past down for the end is near.

WHEN WAS THE MESSIAH TO COME? According to the Prophet Daniel, the Messiah was to come before the Destruction of the Second Temple at Jerusalem. Here is the Prediction: PROPHET DANIELS PROPHECY: Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself...and the people of the prince that shall come shall Destroy the City and the Sanctuary ( Daniel 9:26) & (Isaiah 53:8). FULFILLED: Messiah came, and was "cut off" as Foretold. Soon afterward "the city" of Jerusalem, and "the sanctuary" of the Temple, were Destroyed by the people of the prince," Titus and his Roman Legions, in A.D. 70, precisely as Predicted long Centuries before by Daniel the Prophet. THE WITNESS OF THE PROPHETS "To him (the Messiah) give all the Prophets Witness, that through His name Whosoever believeth in Him(Jesus Christ) shall receive Remission of Sins."(No Heaven without Messiah) 🪶OLD COVENANT TIME IS OVER & NEW COVENANT IS STARTED(Jeremiah 31:31-34). 🌹Messiah will Enter into Jerusalem riding upon as Ass(Zechariah 9:9)🐂.Still Jews Looking for the Messaiah who will come on a Donkey. But the Donkeys Period is Over,Now we are in the Period of Mercedez,Audi,Bmw,Ferrari etc, etc. MESSIAH WAS TO BE REJECTED BY HIS OWN PEOPLE(Isaiah 53:1,3) & (Psalm 118:22) & ( Deuteronomy 18:15-19) 🙈🙉🙊 Prayer House : 9160061777. No. The Sabbath was part of old covenant Law of Moses given exclusively to ancient Israel (which no longer exists under covenant). The Sabbath was a memorial of ancient Israel's unique deliverance as a nation people from Egypt, by the Creator God, and was commemorated by a one day-in-seven weekly complex mixture of ceremonial observances (30 +). The Sabbath forbid work on that day which it commanded on the other days, showing it was ceremonial. Moreover, it was a Sign exclusively made between God and the ancient nation of Israel and no other nation. A sign (short for "signification") is a symbol and demonstrates it was a symbol, or symbolic. Observing a 24 hour period through symbolic representation (observance) demonstrates again, it was indeed a ceremonial institution, its duration. All the Law and the Prophets were fulfilled by Christ and his Body in the last generation of the last age of ancient Israel. Ancient Israel historically ended in that identity, in the destruction of the Temple in AD 70, once Christ had removed sin from Israel and gifted his righteousness to all Israel. Sin (transgression of the Mosaic Law) was only imputed to those under the Law of Moses. No other individual or nation at that time or since, has ever been under the Law of Moses. Likewise, no other individual or nation at that time or since has ever been imputed with sin. God imputed sin to Israel for a reason and once that reason was achieved, God removed the imputation of sin under Law from Israel and this accounts for why God allowed the Temple to be destroyed and why the entire body of Law and its penalties have never existed since.
