Lovely documentary. I am so sorry for not seeing it before. I am a small coffee grower in Brasil in Caparaó place and has been doing so far organic shade coffee at 1300 m high and although has been facing a lot of criticism I am an enthusiastic if what I am doing Congratulations for this documentary and I’d love to get in contact with you all. Lovely!

Love this! I've made the financial decision to buy shade grown coffee the last year bc I heard about it's positive effects on wildlife during a veterinary conference. A bit pricier but so worth it. And after you've started to grind your own beans you'll think that pre ground big brands are doggy doo 😊

I genuinely like how the interviewer voice was edited out, so that the farmer's own voice carried the narrative.

This is a very usefull video. So uplifting and loving. The coffee industri must understand that producing coffee is so difficult, above all if it is under shadow. Thank's for this job!

You could also have looked at coffees in India. Lot of coffee is grown in shade conditions in the western ghats!

in Tanzania saw areas where 90 percent of trees cut to leave enough canopy for coffee plantations. have no idea whether this is good approach or has any downside.

How about compostable packaging bags to pack your coffee bean?

Maybe, instead of looking to penalize the end user coffee drinker for the poor wages of the farmer, you should instead be looking at trimming the obscene profits made at the upper echelon of the coffee chain.

It’s an incredibly complex issue, most cafes struggle to make money, lots of roasters struggle to make money, many green bean importers are making on average 5% per kilo sold and farmers mainly struggle. One of the biggest issues with coffee is the incredibly high wages and outgoings for roasters and cafes. I am a coffee farmer, importer and roaster and I also own a couple of cafes. So I see it from all perspectives. It is a very difficult issue with no simple answer. Consumers don’t want to pay more for their coffee, cafes don’t want to pay more to roasters, roasters therefore demand a certain price from the importer and the importer will negotiate a price that meets the roaster.
