The results of ATAN calculation when calculating VSA would be in radians which needs to converted to degrees. Multiply the radians by 180/π to convert to degrees. This conversion is missed in the video. Sorry and thanks to the viewers who pointed out this confusion.

Nicely explained. Well made video. One query here is what made one decide the shading period ? Also why is South shaded by the shortest sun path and West by the longest ?

Why is the longest for the western side and the shorter Sunpath for the southern side ??

Even when we convert VSA into radian to degree. the Values are not matching with the tabular column. can u calculate the atleast one VSA using the values in the Tabular column. kindly reply

Because my location nearly all of my value of azitude become negative. Should I take them like positive even though they are negative for calculating HSA? Or just take them negative as if they already been? Could you help me please?🥺🥺🥺

Actually there is a confusion that the values of Altitude angle and HSA are in degree but if I put them in the formula of VSA in degree I won't get same result but if I put them in radians I get the same result but the values shown are in degree

Sorry for the confusion. When ATAN is calculated, the resulting value would be in radians by default irrespective of HSA and VSA values. It is added in the video description as well. Thanks for pointing out the confusion.

why in the step 2 is west orientation? not north orientation?

The solar exposure in the considered location is significant in the west orientation as observed from the sun path diagram.

@@johanwijaya2605 In the western side sun is at lower altitude angles. It would not be practical to provide exceptionally long horizontal shades to provide shade. Whereas, at the southern side, sun is at higher altitude, and relatively less wider horizontal shades can shade the windows from direct solar radiation.
