LARPers actually do some fencing though, not with fully accurate weapons or full protective gear, but they actually have an idea of how their weapons work. Shad is more like that kid at a costume party that wants to play karate, then says "stop you're doing it wrong" when he can't block a single hit.

but isn't it an open secret that what youtube hates the most is inconsistency? if you mix up 20 minute videos and 2 hour streams a lot it will put you lower in the algorhythm, if you jump from one genre to a totally different genre it will punish you etc... just what Shad did proudly...

His swordtuber niche other than castles were bows he was deep into bows so much that Tod's Workshop sent him a prototype of his then hyperfixation, an autoloading longbow ... said longbow's draw strength was pretty high that it broke the loading mechanism I'm fairly sure shad was just egolifting, in hindsight

The only reason Shad is still relevant now is because he associated himself with the EFAP crew, especially MauLer. Without MauLer, people like Shad, Nerdrotic or Critical Drinker wouldn’t have been this popular.

@@LRB-cu7vj Yeah that's the thing with Mauler, he ACTUALLY does have some media critique skills, but like a bunch of people it's ruined by the political views (especially over time as he got audience captured). Mauler feels like the kind of person who doesn't particularly care about the personal lives or opinions of people who hang out in his sphere. I think for a long time, even though he engaged in that discourse, the critical analysis took a forefront, but audience capture is awful.

Man as cringe as the Channel Awesome video format is now, I do really miss those old days around 2010 when it was just becoming a thing, they were funny enough and less pathetic and we all had fun with watching it. I think the only one that actually had any talent REALLY was Spoony, but his health conditions and unwillingness to get help really screwed him.

In shad's meagre defense, for the clipshow at least it does seem pretty obvious that they tried to make it as cringe as possible. Similar to when someone clips out parts of starwars movies to only include the lines that sound like innuendos out of context.

I actually agreed with Doug about the Wall (So that makes 2 people in the world that disliked it), but the review itself was garbage. He simply couldn't present his view as legit or make it funny. I think I started to realize it wasn't funny any more around the Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables with the lengthy unfunny musical parodies.
