It might just be my memory getting bad, but I'm sure mine was Sprung the other way and flipped open rather than flipped closed. Still a marvellous restoration though, great to see it given new life. 👍👍
I have just restored mine, luckily it wasnt in bad condition, original tracks and missile etc...just needed taking apart and the green respraying and new shado 2 decals...looks brilliant.
So cool. I had one when I was maybe 5. Never had any idea where it came from. Mine was missing the tracks and rocket launcher but I didn't care. The flip over top was my secret stash for rocks, or coins, or whatever a 5yr old finds that qualifies as treasure. Haven't thought of this in 50 years. Thank you. I'm in the US and we never had the show UFO, though we did get all the toys from UK television. It was lost to us kids that these were from a show!
It looks a lot like that Alvis 6x6 allterrain vehicle. I love my white BP version from Matchbox because it was a pure adventure car. And allways love my U.F.O vehicles. Even remember that old series. It took a longtime 'till they showed one of the aliens. And the girls from moonbasis were gorgeous. It was a dream of the future past
UFO. był w pewnym sensie odpowiednikiem Star Trek (TOS) serialu telewizyjnego, w którym ludzkość odpiera ataki kosmitów. (Z imponującą technologią 😉) Mobilny SHADO był jednym z moich ulubionych pojazdów (obok Interceptora). (Całkiem „czołg przyszłości”) Kolejna świetna renowacja, Paweł, szacun 🤩 Moja atrakcja: Technologia „wyrzutni rakiet”, nowo wyprodukowanych „rakiet” i „prawdziwych” gąsienic. 👍🏼🇵🇱😎🍻🤠🇩🇪👍🏼 UFO. was somehow the counterpart to Star Trek (TOS) A TV series in which humanity fends off attacks from aliens. (With impressive technology 😉) The SHADO mobile was one of my favorite vehicles (along with the Interceptor). (Quite the “tank of the future”) Another great resto, Paul, all respect 🤩 My highlight: The technology of the "rocket launcher", the newly manufactured "rockets" and the "real" caterpillar tracks. (Plastic is more detailed than rubber 😁) As always, the icing on the cake is the original packaging. Clearly, both thumbs up for that 👍🏼 👍🏼 Thanks a lot for sharing 🙏🏼 and keep it up, mate 😉 Have a nice weekend to you and your family and stay safe and sound. Greetings from the sunny lighthouse end of the Elbe river. 👍🏼🇵🇱😎🍻🤠🇩🇪👍🏼
Excellent restoration as usual Paul. Thanks for bringing back the memories, though I didn’t have one lots of my friends did when I was a kid back in the 70’s👍
Excellent work. A great series that I was too young to see at the time, BUT the toys were still around when I was 5 - 10 years old and still owned by kids I knew at school. You got the spring release the wrong way around on this toy. You release the switch and the missile launcher flip / rotates around and appears. Then you rotate it back by hand and lock it in place hidden under the roof. Its meant to appear by pop up from the spring not by rolling it around by hand / manual. It even says that on the box you made. - "Button release flip over roof." Still its a great to see another iconic toy restored...
Restauro complesso, che ha richiesto tutta la tua maestria per essere portato a compimento. Soggetto inconsueto, che non conoscevo, e che hai riportato in condizioni eccellenti. Come sempre tanti complimenti!
An excellent restoration to the original colours as used by Dinky. I’ve seen some restorations where they are restored to TV appearance in a light metallic blue. Only one issue at 29:18 - when the lever is moved, the lid should flip so the launcher is revealed. That way, the vehicle is ready to tackle the UFO threat. It’s a straightforward fix to move the mechanism to do this. It doesn’t take away from the awesome work you have done! Thank you!
I am amazed at the engineering of this model, Maestro. Watching you dis-assemble all the mechanisms with their different, specific metallurgy reminds us of the wonderful era of diecast toys this came from! All the somewhat tedious fabrication of wheels and such you managed with a deft, patient hand. The finicky mechanisms yielded to your sure attention admirably. And, as always, your box fabrication was second to none!! Beautiful job, Pawel!!❤❤ Stephen
Oh my goodness. When you picked up the hammer to flare the axle pins, I went wild. I've only ever worked in plastic. I bow in your direction watching your craftsmanship, sir. Fantistic piece of work. I've seen some of your other wonderful vids before, but didn't comment. This thing, though..amazing. Shado should hire you for maintenance in their shed. We did get Anderson's "UFO" over here in the US..IIRC it was on 'Public Television; like old Tom Baker "Doctor Who" episodes were.
These larger sized TV/Movie tie-in models are where your skills really shine - I wish you'd do more of them especially any other Gerry Anderson you've not yet tackled: Joe 90's car? Eagle Transporter? FAB 1?
Watching this brought the memories flooding back - I had one of these as a kid and loved the show too. Great job on the restoration. My recollection is that the little lever at the back caused the roof to flip open and reveal the missile, then it had to be closed by hand. But I could be wrong - it is a while ago!
You certainly like a challenge. The finished model looks fantastic and that rocket launcher sadly wouldn't be allowed on models made today because of its power.
the weathering, wear, and tear looks good; it give it some character, no need fixing. Only the tracks and it's tires and the missle launcher needs some fixing.
That is very cool. I enjoy watching your real restorations. There are a lot of fake restoration videos out there where the builder makes the toy look like it’s old and in need of repair. I like your honest builds.
absolutely fantastic !!!! Paul thats another blast from my childhood that i always wanted to own , but never did , thank you for this beautiful resto !!!!!!!!!! ....Shaun.
Dinky made some great Sci-fi TV models. I had the Space 1999 transporters and the Star Trec USS Enterprise, which was incredibly heavy due to it being almost all diecast metal. Great for hitting my older brother with lol
This was my must have Christmas present when it first came out. Another excellent video. I remember on mine though the top catch caused the launcher to flip to the open to fire position from concealed. I presume it's just how the release spring is set during assembly.
Thank you very much, I print packaging on cardboard from 230 g on a special machine in a digital printing house, and I make the boxes myself, you can watch a video on my channel how they are made. Best regards.
Dinky did their usual thing here - make the (very accurate) toy the wrong colour. The SHADO Mobile has tracks, so it's a kind of tank, they assumed, and painted it 'Olive drab'. In the TV show, 'UFO', the machines were a very pale metallic blue. Honestly, though, I think the military green does look better.
@@mikes5637 - All because a Child Psychologist told Dinky that children did not like playing with white coloured toys. Yes, really. And yet, I remember owning several toy ambulances as a kid, and loved playing with them, as well as toy Polar Bears which I loved, too. 🤔🤔🤔
Lovely restoration of a model I always wanted but never had. Also never had Ed Straker's car either and would like to see a restoration of this model too if you ever get one to show us .
Thats so cool !! Brings back some childhood memories. Two brothers i grew up both had the same toy . I played with that same toy alot . To quote Bob Hope , Thanks for the memories .
I prefer a flat of matte paint finish over the glossy coat you used. This diecast model looks better in a flat/matte dark green. Your restore looks too shiney/glossy. Still, another impressive Dinky restore, by you! I have been a watcher of your YT channel for a few years, now, and your diecast toy vehicle restoration skills are truly impressive to watch! You do an amazing job of restoring old diecast vehicles from the past! The green color was cool, but inacurrate to the show, but green would still work, on these models, or real life vehicle, to help hide/camouflage these vehicles in any type of forrest/jungle setting. I own a pair of these Dinky UFO S H A D O mobile assault vehicles, that were fully restored to look more like the miniature remote control model vehicles from the TV series. Mine were painted in a metallic/metalised blue-gray color, instead of the dark, forrest green that Dinky painted these. It is NOT that dark metallic blue, that Dinky used later to paint these. The metallic blue/gray color on my Dinky diecast S H A D O mobiles was painted in a color that is a better color match to the TV show remote controlled moving miniature model vehicles, right down to the color matched plastic tank tread hubs These look fantastic! The actual color of these model mobiles were a matte/semi-gloss gray or blue-gray. Depending on your TV or how these were lit for filming, sometimes these models looked gray, sometimes they would look more blue, in color. Awesome restoration job! Really like and enjoy watching your channel!👍🏻🤜😀
