Being a kid of the 80's, this is the first arcade game I put my eyes on along with roadblasters so can you imagine how much nostalgia there is in it. Now I play it everyday on my laptop using the linux based retro-gaming console called (Batocera)
Just like shinobi but with a pet. I remember seeing this at arcades but never playing it. Its all coming back to me. Diversions game room. Good times. Im 41 years old btw. That should give an idea of the nostalgia I must be feeling.
Man my dad downloaded it on his computer and he has been having a blast, for he played this in his childhood. I'm happy to see him be happy plus he's actually good at it! I personally really like the theme of this game, the soundtrack is fantastic too.
I use to complete this with 1 credit and get the highest score which doesn't reset when switched off. I returned the day and my name is still no1! Loved this and shinobi
It also records the number of coins, I use to have a duel at the local arcade with this other guy, eventually we started to no-star trowing most stages to get like a 50,000 score bonus, I ended up with like 1,200,000 as the top score. Fun times...
Early days, great days nothing can compare to the fun factor of the 80s. If only we could return to relive all that was well appreciated compared to the dismal times of now!
esse foi um dos melhores da minha infancia, varias veses cheguei no final ,perdia e nao tinha uma ficha para continuar, mas valeu a pena, me divertir muito,,,,esse cara que fez essa demonstraçao joga de mais ,,parabens..
one of my top favorite games. best memories. i remember the time i played this game 6 days on week. except sundays, because the arcade (place) were closed. lol
155 people are mad that their deadly mission was obstructed. Personally, I liked the Genesis version better, but this has its moments. That music is fantastic... it builds tension by the truckload, as if more tension was needed in a game this tough.
skillfully done, arcadegamesfreak....I could never get that ninjas bonus stage pattern down...you did it with ease....thx for posting....never seen arcade version beat
Though I never heard of this particular Arcade game, it still hits all the nostalgia vibes. The sound, the graphics, a lot of the arcades were all similar in these aspects. I miss the days of having to go to an arcade to see GOOD games in action.
me too, finally see the last boss in 2024... holy shit.. i loss many coin to play this arcade, if captain commando only use 3 coin to last chapter but this game use 10 coins and only see chapter 3,but captain commando the best arcade if u play with 3 player others, mustafa and warrior of fate too
This is the first time that I have seen the arcade version of Shadow Dancer. After viewing this and owning the Sega Genesis version, I can't believe I am saying this but I prefer the Genesis version. I think that the home version looks harder than this as well.
@@alucard624 I prefer the arcade however I strongly believe the arcade version is harder one reason one hit your dead vs a life bar on the home version
There's NO WAY the Mega-Drive version is harder. I've played both versions a lot. The Mega-Drive version lasted a weekend with me. A weekend is all I needed to beat it. Arcade Shadow Dancer? I'm yet to beat it. This game is hard as nails and you have no idea up until you tried it.
In project x zone 2, ingrid calls both hotsuma and strider hiryu "the shadow dancers", besides there's a chapter in the game that has the title "shadow dancer".
Just beat Shinobi Arcade version, I have to say it is one of the greatest arcade games ever made and still holds up well to this day. This game is basically a sequel to Shinobi Arcade, but there are too many problems with it. It has the right idea, trying to just be Shinobi but with better graphics and a dog. However, the gritty graphics make things pop out less and more hard to focus on the extremely precise and fast paced strategic gameplay the game has, for instance it's harder to see projectiles, this makes it more frustrating in a bad way. The jumping just doesn't feel as tight as Shinobi, I feel like I have to struggle with the controls and get lucky against the ninjas rather than using my skill and planning. Also the level design is just extremely obnoxious, it doesn't feel as fun and strategic as Shinobi, I feel like they had less time to make this game and go through testing.
+BenjamminClark I agree with you 100%. The characters in Shinobi seemed to fit with the ninja theme better as well. It seems in Shadow Dancer, most of your enemies look either like street thugs or mutants. Shinobi, they were ninja's samurai and military soldiers. (Shadow Dancer looks like he has a pot belly too!) Also, I noticed how the controls in Shadow Dancer seem very stiff like you mentioned. Shinobi is far better IMO..
pnsmexico I know your questionwasn't directeded at me but i recommend watching youtube playthroughs where they dont cheat. Shinobi really isnt teriibly difficult for an arcade game. You can play it on MAME.
Wow! if I had to provide a comparison descriptor for both versions of shadow dancer. Shadow dancer arcade = Joel Schumacher batman Shadow dancer genesis = Christopher Nolan's batman
A closer look at the intricacies and depth of the controls, speed and difficulty of the Arcade version would reveal the Arcade version is Tim Burton's Batman, therefore, the best
Damn I remember this was one tough game!! I tried and tried but couldn't get far lol.The Genesis version was wayyyy easier...except the final boss which was quite a challenge :)
Espero puedas disfrutar
I can see Joe Musashi spoiled his son too much. He has a pot belly and relies on his house pet to do most of his work for him. Such a shame he didn't turn out like his father...
although in the Japanese version, Yamato (the dog) is adopted by Joe (while the American and European Genesis version says that he took Yamato after his original owner named Kato was killed in his attempt to rescue schoolchildren who were held hostage by the Union Lizard)
Shinobi and Shadow Dancer were great fun in the 80's, but that 'music' was GAWD AWWWFFUL! :/ No joke, it annoyed the living hell out of my brain then, and it still does today, lol. 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
@@KenMasters. Then again, home consoles aren't gonna be as powerful as the arcades, Ken Masters is my favorite Street Fighter! Nice name! Hadouken! 👊 🔥
man, i loved playing this on the Master System when i was a kid. i was actually impressed to figure out that it was a straight (as much as it could be anyway) arcade port while the Genesis one was a totally different game.
I loved this game so much. I never realized it was made back in 1989. I played it in the early 90s and this game looks so much better than the console version.
@@ivanantonio24 Meh... vos sos de la era de los dinosaurios, yo de igual forma tengo mis recuerdos del emu MAME32, algo que ya ni uso ni pienso usarlo. :u
When I played this game on arcade I was so envious to get the exact same game on the Medadrive/Genesis console but I realize now that the console version is far better, at least in terms of graphics and style. Hah!
I have some great memories of this game and you should know ladies and gentlemen the ninja of this game is in fact Hayate Musashi the estranged son of Joe Musashi who took down the evil organization Neo-Zeed in the Revenge of Shinobi and both of them are Japanese-American
