Hell yeah brother, I was just thinking the same thing. I turned 40 this year and I’ve been reliving the nostalgia of each and every one of these awesome games. Man, I feel old 😂
I know that this original version was designed to be a beat em up quarter drainer in the arcades, but I'm so glad Tecmo went a different route with the NES version
We had this exact arcade at our house when we were kids. The previous owners left it for us. Sister ended up breaking it and dad sold instead of fixing it. I was so mad.
Timing, patience and angles is everything on this game. Managed to clock it with one credit back in the day, fantastic graphics and gameplay for the time.
Bullshit, Johnny. I’d like to see you do that. My dad bet the same thing against somebody else in the arcade. My dad was so full of himself so he bet this stranger that he could do just that. And if he didn’t…..that person couod fuck his wife (my mother) as well as beat his son with a rubber hose for 30 minutes. (Me). Well, my dad fucked it up. Big time. He died twice almost immediately. Then did okay for a while until he got to the part where you cross traffic. Fuck him
He says desukoi which is a taunt in sumo. It's kind of nonsensical now but its etymology can be found in the Dokkoissho dialect used in the Hokkaido and Tohoku regions and in that dlalect it would mean "where are you going?" Interesting tidbit...this is also what E. Honda says in SF II when he does his headbutt move.
@@milkcarton6654 Man, that is the coolest piece of trivia...I'm a veteran of SF ALL the way back, and didn't know that...really awesome to learn about it!
Level 3 was my favorite! I love the Vegas scenery combined with the cheesy lounge music! It just seemed way more fun crashing through all the different objects on this level.

This game...so may memories...Used to play it all the time as a kid even though I was pretty terrible at it...could never get past the third stage. Such a good game though.
Loved this game. Artwork is amazing and this hasn't aged at all. Truly a masterpiece during the quarter machine video arcade era. Best of it was the texture and "feel" of this game. The punches and hits you make on the enemy was so juicy and satisfying.
I believe it's a reference-to/dig-at Rick from Splatterhouse (which is itself is Friday the 13th homage) a competing ultra-violent side-scrolling beat-em-up from the same era.
I remember playing this at the bowling alley in Yokosuka, Japan. My aunt worked there and it was rare I would visit her. It was always a holy grail for me as a kid.
True story: It was 88, I was in third grade. Went to this small arcade near my school and saw this game. I was enjoying watching another guy play and then saw the game over screen... from that moment, and until 1993 I would literally search for this game first thing when entering any arcade. If it was there, I’d get the f out in panic.
I remember that the first time I saw this game was when I was a kid in Moscow airport. I was so captivated by intro of this game that I wanted to find this game again. I searched and searched and searched l couldn't find it. Then finally,vI quit. And only recently when I am already 41 age old RU-vid suggested mr visiting certain game video, and here I found it!
One of Bosses in this game is the Road Warriors who were a real Wrestling Tag Team. They were Animal and Hawk. They wore face paint and had shoulder pads with spikes on them.
The Road Warriors actually used Iron Man as their entrance music way back in the day, and were pretty big in Japan too, so I think it's safe to say that was a nice little homage to them.
You can download the mame emulator and all of the roms (games) that you need, you can play this games in your computer, that's way better than any app.
This game was brought down by it's soundtrack and the recycled boss enemies. In a game with only 6-7 levels, you shouldn't be using the same boss guys over and over again. This is one of the rare cases where the Nintendo version of the game was far better than the arcade version.
Ninja Gaiden on NES: Stylish late 80s anime/OVA with limited animation but slick action Ninja Gaiden in arcades: Cheesy American action movie with stuntmen pretending to know kung fu
I thought exactly the same! Probably is. Ken's stage music intro from Street Fighter 2 is also taken from the song "Mighty Wings" by Cheap Trick...or vise versa :-) !
I, of course, noticed it immediately. So many eighties video games take direct inspiration from pro wrestling. There's a Stan Hansen reference in there too.
When I was younger I couldn't get enough of this game in the Arcade's... I always wanted this game on Sega Genesis... But if you are a Xbox Series X/S owner like myself... You can relive the Glory of this game with the Antstream Gaming Service on the Xbox Store...👏🧐💯🥂
it was one of my favorite arcade games when I was 10yo. I used to play in a bar where people usually spent one coin to finish the game. The bar owner saw it was not given so much money as he expected. So him asked to a guy to modify the game difficult. It didn't help lol and sadly the arcade was removed from the bar -sad history :-(
@@PM2126 from the way the story was presented, it sounded like the soLe reason the arcade was sent away was because no one played it/ so i said "an arcade's eLectricity biLL costs the same whether it is being played or not" i wonder how much it costs to own a Neo^Geo AES there!
Saludos.
LOL, I was wondering, just like the henchman what the Ninja was doing hanging from that bar attached to the building 😂 - I would've gotten a double foot to face!!
