Cid is so fast he did all those movements when sparring with his sister and then returned to his original position. Also Cid is making stuff up as he goes along and he think his followers are humoring him. His followers think hes just that amazing since it all happpens to be true somehow
He is just looking at stuff in the background and making stuff up from what he sees. But he is actually guessing based off actual clues in the background.
@@Skydmciscool In Pathfinder, there's a Bardic Masterpiece called _Pageant of the Peacock._ It has a few effects. You spend a round of Bardic Performance, and for one hour you get a bonus to Disguise checks to pass yourself off as someone of a higher social class, a bonus to Bluff checks, and (now here's the really important one) you can use your Bluff skill in place of *any* Int-based Stat check or Skill check. So need to roll something like Spellcraft or Knowledge or Crafting or any other skill based on Intelligence? Nope, literally Bluff your way through _with a bonus to boot!_ And Cid apparently has this effect up 24/7 and always rolls Nat-20... _Always._ *GM:* OK, so make a Knowledg... *Cid:* Actually, I use Bluff for those. *GM:* Fine, make a "Bluff" roll to know what the backstory of the wor... *Cid:* _Nat-20, Baby!_ Also, +30 bonus on top of that, so what does 50 get me? *GM:* ಠ_ಠ ... OK, so you've successfully Bluffed _reality_ by a huge margin. Your stupid BS story is now completely true and accurate, and I also despise you.
@@omargoodman2999 Well that is pretty much a rogue is in D&D I have heard from my friends. They said that is you build a rogue correctly you can pretty much say whatever you want and when you do a skill check with whatever number you land on you will at least get a 20 with the added bonuses.
not really, he made the story based on the folklores of that world, and it turned out to be true but the anime kinda did a poor job explaining that part so it made a lotta confusion
For the people who are confused at how he knows about the Cult of Diabolos, in this world, the Demon Lord Diabolos was a real figure thousands of years ago. However, over the years, the cult has gone into the shadows and the legends became myths, which became stories. Growing up in this world, Cid has read these stories and that's how he 'make's it up'.
It would of been way better if he literally just had the ability to alter reality like that. The show is already a hyper unrealistic power fantasy jerk off session why not add in the fact that this all only happens because he can subconsciously warp reality?
@@iamcool544 nah the thing is cid is really smart and he has read tons of books about this world already, yes he makes it up at the moment but he uses some reasoning, the slime suit HE created it, something that nobody else in the world knew how to do, the reason cid is so op it’s because of how smart he is, what’s funny is that he doesn’t have any op abilities he CREATED the op abilities, he uses his magic to speed up his movement, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he speeds up his brain as well
@@wild5851 Yeah see, hyper power fantasy bullshit. He has no grounding or reason for being able to do these things. WHY can he create these things? There is no magic/slimes/ect. in our world so him reincarnating has nothing to do with it. He isnt using modern science to help him. He went into this world and has surpassed everyone who has ever existed in this entire plane of reality before he hit 20 just because "he is soooo smart". He successfully used magic in a way no one ever even considered on his own? Thats like saying an untrained kid designed and built a fucking solid state battery without any outside help. The author is trying to use "well hes just lucky and smart" as a way to hand waive all the bullshit and its just lazy. At least have a narrative excuse for WHY. And it would explain all of it. Why is every single competent person he ever meets an attractive female who immediately subordinates herself to him? Because that's what he fantasizes and so he subconsciously made it happen. Why does his random made up bullshit always turn out right and no one questions it? Because he imagined it. Why is he just straight up better than everyone else who have been doing this not only longer but with the assistance of dozens of other equally talented people? Cause his little weeb heart wants it to be true. You could even build upon it at the end of the show with a moral quandary over if it is even a fun thing to do if he can literally never mess up or fail and have him use his powers to delete his own abilities so he can try again for real this time.
Nah she might be right. Everything in the world seems to bend to be the ideal that Cid wanted. Usually the dying wish is to be powerful or w.e, but cids granted "power" might just be his ideal reality, not just his personal power. Making anything he wants to happen just bend reality to fit. It's hard to tell if it's just a trope due to how blatant and self aware it is. Could just be a gag, but could also be the entire plot. Hard to know
@@Syllaren Instead of reality warping to his wishes, it could also be that his "random shit" is warped to match reality. It's like Ainz actually being good at planning despite not consciously thinking so because his INT stat is really high.
No she is wrong. She said world is empty and Cid is making everything happen according to his wish which is wrong since there are lot of background story to going on without Cid in light novel.
Does the fact that we didn't even get to see his entire personality cult come into being get adressed (like passed episode 12 cause I didn't make it further)? That just seemed like prime comedy and story material that was completely skipped over, pretty frustrating
@@jossecoupe446 The manga does explain it as his reason de'tre to be the coolest motherfucker behind the scenes, while being aware that he is ultimately just a guy and rather implausible, only for said dream to be realized via his transportation to another world and jolding the same mentality as before while carrying still a more single minded mindset of how he wishes to live. You can read that to be the conclusion of how his character is in the manga, but you don't get that hint of insight and backstory to make that association for his personality. No
But I feel they still don't catch the vibe of the show, Eminence of Shadow is better when you take it as a comedy and don't try to find the reason for everything like they are doing.
Claire, his sister, is not the girl from other world. I know they look similar but there's no relation. The other girl is still alive and Claire has a completely different personality.
@@stranger342 because they weirdly focused on her in the first episode and gave her this over the top backstory how she got r****d. Kinda stupid to do all that for absolutely no reason.
@@redemption5763 Its called "Bionic Perception of Time" where he is able to perceive and see everything that happens around him in a way that causes time to stop around him, (if not already stopped as such), allowing him to move, dodge, and read the movements of their opponents, down to the last second, even if they are very powerful. being able to dodge strong attacks, and counterattack forcefully, from his childhood to his teens, like those of his sister Claire, and the famous swordswoman Beatrix.
Cid just lives his life and lives out his fantasies, but because he's so strong, his actions have real consequences. It's like saying the biggest bullshit in D&D, but you always roll the highest, so the gamemaster has to take everything seriously. This is what makes the whole anime so ridiculously funny
5:03 he didnt predict, he was very fast enough to perform the attack on her without the sword touching her body except for the tip of sword touching her neck, that why she touched her neck because she felt that the tip.

The thing about Shadow is that fate itself is designing the world specifically to make him more badass. He is controlling the worlds fate without even realizing it.
i allways took it not as he predicted the moves, but he actually moved so fast that time basically stopped, he DID what we saw as his form of training without going through on the cuts and then at the end he jsut let himself get hit because well hes a 'weak background character'
@@redemption5763 If you've seen all of the anime you should know. Spoilers He does the same thing as mundane man and also is so fast that Beatrix can barely keep up with him. He 100% was moving like that and going back to where he was.
He doesn’t make the cult up out of nowhere, and the store room that he’s in when he’s talking to the elf is full of all the things he stole from the caravan when he saved her, and since the cult of Diablo‘s was the ones responsible for experimenting on her. It’s safe to say the caravan belong to them, so when he’s looking around the room looking for something to make up, he looks at the whiskey bottle which has their brand on it because again the room is full of all of the stuff he stole from the caravan he uses the name off of the bottle, not knowing that that is actually the name of their cult
you gotta remember that he's from the modern world so he's aware of the clichés and the troupes that he wants to follow in this life but it ends up being a cliché story with a character thats aware of them
Cid didn't make up the Cult of Diablos, its an old story that already existed. He literally looked in the background and saw the story there so he was inspired. Cid is literally LARPING
No he just showed what he could have done if he wanted to. He never actually did it. The reason why she ”felt it” was because her insticts subconsciously thought he had hit her. If you’ve seen the entire anime you should know this.
@@redemption5763 Shut up bro. You're commenting on literally every comment saying he actually did it. Even worse, you're wrong. He did do it. That's the reason she felt it.
I actually don't think the world bends around his mistakes or changes based on his guesses, I just feel like he is kinda.. mistakenly falling into success, if you will xD
4:54 what is happening is the MC can and was moving so fast his sister couldn't see him. He was showing the audience he could BODIED her at any given time.😂😂😂
One fun part about Eminence is that the story isn't even that far along yet, We already had a 20 episode anime but if the story keeps the same pace then even the Light Novel is only like 30 episodes further than the anime is. And the Light Novel, which the anime adapts, doesn't follow the Web Novel anymore, the story completely changed, so there isn't much people can spoil. A lot of questions you might have throughout the show even the Light Novel readers don't know yet.
Its kinda like Overlord where hes doing his own shit but everyone one else misunderstands him and thinks hes 4head 1000 steps ahead when in reality he just wants to look cool and just so it happens that hes right every single time cuz author was like "why not" The sister is a different character than Nishino from modern day. In the manga Cid gets briefly transported back to his old world and we see Nishino again Also ye he could have cut his sisters head off during training he is actually that fast but hes holding back so that everyone thinks hes a vegetable
The scene where he spar with his sister the movement that he showed can actually be done in his current age and body meaning he can defeat her easily, he just doesn't do it cause he wants to be a mob character while operating in the shadows
as y'all get further in, you SHOULD be able to piece together how he was looking around the room, saw that bottle and had the name of something legit.....lol
Roshi: Is he attending a whole different school? He has been isekaied after getting hit by that truck. It would be weird if he were somehow still attending the same school.
ur' all getting confused here so, 1. the sister is not reincarnated, just normal sister from that world 2. he made up the cult name, which turned out to be an actual cult, he didnt narrate it into existence 3. in the training with his sister, he is so fast he actually made those move on her as a show off but he went back to his original position to get hit, he dont want to stand out, remember?
Basically this world is cliche world. Cid is saying stuff that is cliche or we would have seen in other anime. And this world follows the part like that. It's like Ains but a bit more than that.
When he was fighting his sister, he moved so fast that the sister time stopped as he was attacking her. In his head, he is making stuff up, and he believes the girls are just going along with him. In reality, everything he says and maybe to a point his action affects the world.
Cid pulls the story from of the items around them, which are all from a Diablos caravan (which is why Alpha was there), so it's not actually as random as people think that his bullshit ends up real. Still ridiculously lucky, but there's at least some plausability.
I like how they are overcomplicating things and misunderstanding shit LOL! Dude is just a goof ball Chunni that accidently guesses shit right. The definition of "Fake it till you make it"
You'll probably quickly notice how fire the soundtrack is. The composer is Kenichiro Suehiro, the same guy who did Re;zero (and Renai Flops for some fucking reason)
When cid was fighting his sister and he did all those slashes it was basically telling you, he could’ve did this but he’s pretending to be weak/average. He is also making everything up but he’s right every time and he thinks everyone is playing along with him 😂
Sheera hit on a popular fan theory that Cid, being an otherworlder is actually influencing this world whenever he talks, and rewriting both the history as well as the present as he makes up his bullshit.
Ay I hope y'all react to Dead Mount Death Play too, it is a promising and creative isekai like this one, and episode 1 just dropped, with a post credits scene of course
So the backstory he made up was based off a fairytale in that new world. Turns out the fairytale was real. After he saved each member of his squad they each started investigating the cult and realized the cult really existed. Unfortunately the protagonist still believes his story is fake and thinks the cult is just random bandits. So when the girl brought out the map it was actually Intel on the various secret hideouts of the cult. He got lucky when he threw the dagger and chose the right hideout where his sister was. So the squad knows his 'fake' backstory is actually real and believes that the protag knows it's real but when they talk to him about it he thinks they are just playing along with his act as thanks for saving them.
I should mention this but, in the scene when he duels with his sister, the image of him attacking her on the neck but then does not attack is showing how fast he actually is. So he is going "Koro Sensei" levels of speed in that moment. That was not an after image or a mental game image, that was actually him moving at such as high speed the world could not keep up.
He is making this shit up, however it isn't just from out of no where, he is making things up based on what he sees/already knows. Example in the scene where he "made" Cult of Diablos, he actually saw the name somewhere else in that same world and its also a myth in that same world. Turns out that it isn't really a myth and it's actually real. So no he isn't making things up and causing them to come through, it's just that when he "makes" things up, it actually already coincidentally exists and he thinks they(shadow garden) are just playing around. And for when he was fighting his sister, i think he actually did those actions and thats why she felt the sword but after he just went back into the position he was in at first.
Just letting you guys know, the anime wasn’t projecting cids next move, he literally moved so fast that his sister was frozen mid attack, he just swang right infront of her so she didn’t get cut
9:00 - As Cid said, he doesn't want to be a hero or a villain, he wants to be the Eminence in Shadow. He is definitely not a good guy, he just might do good things from time to time if it fits his roleplay.
At 5:11 he's not predicting, he's literally moving like in time stop. And yea, the comedy of this show that main hero most of the time don't have a clue about what's going on, saying some random phrases, but they are accidently true
My man Cid is doing a much more better job of not standing out compare to other isekai protagonist. Who constantly saying wanted to have a life and not standing out and yet keep flashing their OP skills to the public.
Cid is not just an everyday chunibyo - he is the psychopath-chunibyo - the best kind! If he thinks killing you is cool - he will kill you and will do it with style!
The entire series is basically trying to piece together whether or not the world revolves around him now. He is just trying to live out his Chuunibyou life in another world.
bro when the kid almost cut her neck. she didnt sense it. he stopped early cuz he would have cut her head off. he let her pary the attack so he can seem like hes not that strong. go back and rewatch that part. he cleary states he did it on purpose
I like how you guys keep overthinking it. It is funny. The mc just wants to be Batman + Black Adam. Everything he says is made up but coincidentally it is true. He is just like Ainz from Overlord but is powered by 2.
To better understand why Cid fights the way he does Cid plans to overpower everything that is his plan for defeating people. Also I would say Cid just wants to control everything from the shadows not necessarily be "good" and on the side of justice like the rest of the shadows.
This is like what would happen if the Beyonder was a Chuuni. Spider-Pool breeds with the love child of Batman x Punisher.... He is completely winging it but everything is true.... ( Oh and the girl he saved from his old world is still alive, mourning him)
He is not making things happen. The cult already existed. sid based it on a story from a fairytale book the same goes for the hero's descendants it honestly just happened to make up something that actually exists in both the hero's descendants and the cult of Diablo and he honestly just threw the knife randomly and got lucky it landed in the right spot. This story is literally about how ridiculously lucky he gets when playing his alter ego with story.
Cid isnt bending the world based on his imagination/ideas, it really is just like Lupa said with he Overload analogy, Cid being a direct comparison to Ainz😂...in the sense that both characters are OP af and pretty clueless at the same time lol, but even though they have no idea what the actual reality of their situation is, they still guess and SOMEHOW either guess correctly outright, or their words are missinterpreted by their subordinates in order to come up with the solution😂🙏
The thing with Cid that you need to understand is that when he was reincarnated he was effectively given two stats at max level: magic, and luck (this is not a canon explanation, just how it works out) They did such a good job making him self-aware of his cringey sort of Edgelord behavior; if he had been oblivious to it I feel like it would have been annoying, but the self-awareness to know that he's cringe but not care is just GOLD
Basically cid is a fucking geek and he wants to be a super hero, he’s strong and has enough ressources to make it happen and things just fall into place luckily
For those of you who keep saying that it's what he thinks he does with him going so fast while fighting his sister you obviously have not watched the entire series yet because it's basically shown in the last episode that he literally is that fast
