Omega going "I CALL DIBS" was hilarious, and I liked Shadow struggling with the idea of being related to the Death Leach. Also seeing Egg Breaker was cool. You know what they say, the more the merrier!
@@Jason-..- It's a short hand for calling claims on something before anyone else can. For example if you and two friends walk into a room and there's one cupcake. If you call 'dibs' before they do, it's effectively yours.
I genuinely love both fan-made and official interpretations of how Rouge interacts with all the characters. I love how she's essentially the glue keeping Sonic and Shadow together, and I love the interpretation of her and Sonic just being the two trolls who bond over annoying the hell out of their friends. Again, I've always viewed Shadow and Rouge as being true best friends, and I love seeing the extroverted Rouge break Shadow out of his introverted shell.
I like to imagine Shadow as a freelance agent who takes up jobs that he feels are worth his time. Not an official agent, but will work with G.U.N. or any organization that align with his interests.
I actually would have preferred that he was an official G.U.N agent. It would have shown that he made peace with that part of his past, but I don't mind him being a freelance agent either. Also, I just love the later interpretation of Shadow in the Archie comics, which just so happens to work for G.U.N and even has good reasons for it.
Yes, it has been established specifically in Shadow The Hedgehog that the Death Leeches are larvae. Black Doom explicitly says they are when you run into them in SKY TROOPS. "Those are our Larvae which mature into fine soldiers. Protect them." - Black Doom
Shadow knowing about the Black Arms preemptively does kind of explain why he's such a prodigious fighter even on the arc. This Shadow probably knows that he's supposed to be the one to handle the Black Arms once they come back, so Gerald probably went out of his way to give him combat training
besides, Black Doom wanted Shadow to get the Emeralds for him in these 50 years. It was a part of the deal with Black Arms so Shadow being able to fight is the part that would be needed to collect them.
@@ManiacX1999 oh he definitely was. He was intended to be capable of fighting and using everything he needs (human and alien tech and Doom's chaos powers). It's just that Gerald and Black Doom had different ideas of how it should be used.

Rouge and Shadow's dynamic is really cute because you can tell Rouge drives him up the wall, she knows he hates it and it pleases her, but if anyone tried to do any harm to her, he'd kill them. I don't think he doesn't show up to Sonic's party with the intention of breaking his promise to Rouge.
@@0ikess It's literally canon that Rouge has a crush on Knuckles. Been that way since her first appearance. She has gone out of her way to tease and flirt with and has even tricked him into spending time with her in some games. Knuckles definitely feels an attraction as well, but puts duty over feelings. The most affection that Rouge has ever shown towards Shadow is calling him 'handsome', which is what she calls practically every guy.
It does feel like voice actors can really show off their skills more in shows and animations rather than some games. Roger does work so well as Omega! Reconnecting Team Dark, even if it’s not like in Sonic Heroes or Archie. They still work so well. It still hits me Shadow knew his origins before losing his memories. And these don’t just establish Shadow’s character, but gives Maria more depth as well, being more than just his motivation.
Shadow potentially being a “wonder drug” might really add up as to why he was created as a “cure for all diseases”. We always hear a lot about this tidbit but we never actually see how this exactly works or how his existence helps deal Maria’s disease besides not making her feel alone. If he was created to be this invincible lifeform, it makes sense Gerald would use him essentially as a lab rat for testing out different attempts for a cure without the risk of killing someone. This could also rectify Shadow’s actions back in IDW where he willingly jumps into a crowd of metal zombies, as he’d have the idea that since he can’t fall ill to anything (and to a degree artificially made), he wouldn’t be infected in any way. I remember HSquidReviews making a similar argument for that situation.
Honestly, whenever I think of the "Team Dark aren't friends" statement, I always thought of it saying that due to things like Shadow only ever having referred to them as "allies" as far back as Sonic Battle, and the fact Shadow is usually doing his own thing unless he's sent out with Rouge and Omega, they aren't necessarily "friends" like Sonic is with his group. Rouge seems to be the one who gets Shadow to be social for the most part, like when she requests Shadow promise to show up at Sonic's birthday. It's more like they said, "They have a good working relationship, but otherwise don't expect them to hang out together regularly.". Also, I've seen a few people lean more on Abe's full name possibly being "Abraham _Walters",_ combining his first name with the name of his incarnation in the Sonic movie-verse. But it is pretty neat GUN guy can finally get an official name in animated form...
I like what 06 did and show that team dark were really the only people shadow truly trusts and that they'll always have his back no matter what in return

It’s nice to see the dynamic between Shadow and Maria further developed. And to see Team Dark fighting together again. So far, the Dark Beginnings Prologue has been awesome. Interested in seeing how part 3 will play out. I also like how the Egg Pawns are dawned in their samurai attire from Aquarium Park. A nod to how Sonic Generations takes place right after Sonic Colors.
The kid version of the GUN Commander hates Shadow because he witnessed Black Doom and Gerald cooperating to create Shadow from a window, so he's terrified of Shadow. It doesn't help that Shadow glared at the kid the moment he came to life.
9:01 the way i see it, this is very in character for rouge. she doesn’t want to go to sonic’s birthday party without a date; that’s just unfashionable. and of course she playfully manipulates shadow into being her date by helping him with something in return. she’s just once again wrapping someone around her finger to get what she wants, which is her entire character. of course with shadow, though, the favor she asks of him comes with no mal intent as it would with her adversaries; she just doesn’t want to go alone to sonic’s birthday party.
Honestly I also think she just likes the guy. It's a pretty lopsided trade, of breaking into a secret base and stealing a spaceship in exchange for just going to a party. She wants to help him, and even him just going to Sonic's party and socializing would do him good as well. It helps Shadow a lot more than it does Rouge, and her "twisting his arm" like this just for him to do something that helps himself is pretty cute.
@@venade9997 “date” doesn’t necessarily mean romantic. the term “date” can be used to just describe someone you bring to tag along with you at a function. at least in america, it’s customary for people to bring friends as dates to parties and events if they don’t have a significant other to bring.
I think in part she doesn't want to go alone because feel out of place, her relationship with Sonic and co has been mostly antagonistic/neutral to this point of time.
Team Dark having their 'siblings reluctantly wotking together' vibe is something I live for. They are such a dysfunctional found family for each other.
This goes with the last profile description of the team Dark, Omega and Rouge,not question Shadow, only join the chaos and ask what he needs. Though it was controversial because their profiles were misinterpreted when refer to each other, withd prase "he wouldn't call no one friend but trust", simply exposed a trait the 3 members of the team share, the 3 suck in perceiving and identified relationships in special friendship.
You can tell Sonic Team regretting the Rouge's voice in Sonic Dream Team because **voice actress didn't change, just the voice direction/accent...** ...Now she can quick-switch between "Suggestive" & "Cheerful Cherry" on a whim of making me laugh.
I just wish the pitch was consistent. She used to have a deep voice and nows she's all shrill. (Not to mention the different accent changes, like going valley girl or country depending on the game)
@@michaelcarlton1484 I think rouge easily swapping accents is a good character trait. It's a reminder that no matter how much you may like her, she's still a spy, she's still deceptive, she has her own agenda, and she might just be using you. Sure, with shadow, the "using" is in his face and cheerful so he knows she's being open with him, but for anyone else, she's charming and dangerous. From the game canon, we still know basically nothing about Rouge. Every character trait she has (except her distaste for Amy) was established in SA2. We know she's a GUN agent, a gem thief, and she's willing to commit and partake in some pretty heinous crimes to complete her missions. She's beautiful, and she knows it, and she uses it whenever necessary. And _something_ made her bond with and keep tabs on Shadow and Omega. She also acts as a GUN liason with Sonic and team. But that's all we know about her from game canon, and expanded lore is very iffy.
The art style of these animations is simply exquisite, like without hyperbole these are some of the best looking pieces I have ever seen... and that is BEFORE the fight scenes! The voice work is also phenomenal too, esp. Maria. It really does feel great to be excited for something from this franchise again, here's hoping we get more of this stuff in the future!
Hey, he went to Amy's birthday party and got her the best gift, so it's not impossible that he'd go. Although, I hope Rouge can find out what day he was created so we can have a Shadow birthday party.

One thing I loved about this short was the animation of the shogun Egg Pawns. They actually look like a credible threat, the way they swing their weapons like legit samurai warriors shows how they are in fact the main military force of the Eggman Empire. We're used to perceiving these things as a bunch of tinker toys that get knocked down like dominos in every game, but that's only because we're playing as people with super powers, to a regular person in Sonic's world these silly looking pawns would be like Terminators.

I always appreciated how, in Sonic Heroes, Rouge is the leader of Team Dark. She's the one who created it, the one who impulses their movement. Hope they keep that sentiment.
actually like team dark being somewhat mercenaries as it basically makes shadow the king of fighters 'k with how he,maxima(a sonic & kof crossover would go hard just seeing team dark with them like omega competing with him at shooting enemies.:3) and kula don't work for heidern but will team up from him/whip's request.

I love seeing content like this, it is so good, and to have it be official canon, and everything I’ve grown up with continue on is just great. I sadly miss a lot of the Easter eggs so I’m really glad there’s someone to point all of these things out.

none of the other reactions or breakdowns i've watched noted how shadow knowing he's an alien hybrid back then was new information, it stood out pretty strongly to me so i was starting to think i must be misremembering or going crazy here lol.
There are a handful that mention it but no one goes as much into detail or that it makes sense since after SA2 until the end of shadow 05 shadow has amnesia and cant remember shit about his past
I just loved that I got to see Omega do things. He's one of my favorite Sonic characters cause I love how simple and straightforward he is. Also, thank god they made him look fast. Since 06, he's always felt so clunky. I know he's big, but E-123 can MOVE with those boosters.
It’s fun to see the way Team Dark is, Omega being trigger happy when it comes to blowing up Egg-bots, Shadow is a lone wolf but actually enjoys having some company even if he doesn’t show it, and Rouge being the one that has to keep the three together. (And I will say I enjoy the thought that Sonic and Rouge have a sibling vibe of being the same age while Sonic and Tails has a more older sibling vibe)
Doesn't Black Doom refer to those Death Leeches as his children when he tells them to eat Sonic and his friends whilst they're paralyzed? It makes sense to me if they're larvae, since Black Doom wants his "children" to grow up big and strong.

If we go to the new profiles and placement on time, Rouge wants to go to the party but doesn't want to go alone. She is a social person but it's pretty distrustfull of others, Shadow and Omega are the only 2 she fully trust, and barely has interacted with the rest casually, like in Sonic battle if you analyze, each time she is casual end in a argument or and adward situation, she doesn't know how interact with other. Annoy Shadow it's simply a funny bonus. Besides it's likely that outside her team, Sonic, Knuckles and Tails are the ones she feels, more or less ,comfortable to be around.
When you said rouge's pose could be a batman reference I instantly thought that it could have instead been a reference to darkstalkers because of Morgan. so I looked through the openings of the games and found a similar pose in the third one not the exact pose but similar in the 3rd game done by surprisingly jeddah. Still could be a batman reference but i thought i would share my findings
Here's a hint as to why Abe disliked Shadow so much at the start of this animation: Look at 0:44 in the Sonic X Shadow Generations - Official Gerald Robotnik’s Journal Infomercial Video here on RU-vid. There's a quick flash of an image of Abe sitting with Maria reading books together. He wasn't lying in Shadow the Hedgehog when he talked about how she was family to him on the ARK. But to him, Maria started spending lots more time with the emotionally vulnerable Hedgehog she probably feels responsible for since he was born to save her and be beats himself up over not saving her sooner. He was a kid who is jealous. He had spied on Dr Robotnik and Black Doom, found out about Shadow being part Alien, and lashed out at the "THING" that took his friend away from him. It's entirely reasonable. We had also learned in the Shadow the Hedgehog Game that he blames Shadow for his parents' and Maria's deaths on the ARK, until he finds out from the last Recording of Gerald Robotnik that GUN was the culprit, and he and the President lament the way they treated him. Finally extending an Olive (Garden) Branch to Shadow by apologizing and asking if he would like to come over, since he recently became a Grandfather. That's what I love about Flynn's writing in Sonic. There's little hints and bits and pieces taken from everywhere, and you can surely go find even more info about them, if yo look hard enough.
Just feed me a full 12 episode, 30 minute series featuring Team Dark using this animation team, SEGA, and I will stop begging for a Chao Garden. It's that good.
As much as i like robotic speaking robot Omega, him having a personality and say "I C A L L D I B S" hits all the right spots He always has been one to act first and go for it after all

This channel continues to be super cool to me, just real dang jazzed its still here. Watching this video and kinda chuckling to myself at how dramatic the scenes in the background are, I had this weird epiphany where I sorta existed all at once, if that makes sense. Watching Shadow punch the ground and Maria hug him took me right back to the silly forums I used to browse and the equally silly fanfictions we all used to write about these characters. I never stopped writing, found a true love and passion for it, and its cool that it grew from playing Sonic games as an impressionable child lol. I like to think that Ian Flynn(spelling? I've never had the human decency to look up his name lol oof) potentially wrote some silly fanfics on a sonic forum somewhere along the line and now he writes sonic fanfics for realsies. That's tight. Thanks for the channel and all the content bro, I don't keep up with Sonic going-ons the way I used to, so I would have never had these thoughts had I not been subbed. On one hand, we're sonic fans On the other hand, sonic has been through enough "classic being forced" shenanigans that people just dont want to even think about it. On the third hand, sonic has also just horribly inconsistent with story, and while i dont think that would take much away, it is a bit of a change that just feels like it would be there for "shock value"
I (heavy breathing) finally did it. I level 99'd all 29/31 possible characters in Castle Crashers! 3 of which beat insane mode. I spent years casually grinding for this!!! Ok, CRF 22 Medium High Profile and... BAM! I have the footage to prove it. Weirdly I had to set the Xbox 360 to upscale the game to 1080p from 720 because of some kind of weird jailbar type artifacts, worsened by the Fast preset in x264, thank goodness for the mClassic cable.
Sonic Prime and this should have switched lengths. It would unironically have helped both of them. I'd say Abraham hates Shadow because he's the spawn of alien satan. I'm actually less a fan of Omega being quippy. I prefer, the humor of his character to come from how blunt and robot he is.
It bothers me a bit that Rouge called out Sonic's birthday, because that basically debunk the theory that Shadow's from the future. I liked that theory.

OK, so, got a few things to say. Lookin' forward to the Shadow '05 live stream. That Sonic CD opening is in it's own category. CD focuses on speedy movement, Dark Beginnings focuses on combat.
7:04 Not alone on that regard. I don't know why they needed to recast Jon St. John and replace him with inferior voices. He had a great Omega voice, but so far Dark Beginnings's VA for him is honestly pretty great.
It's Roger Craig Smith, same as the TailsTube from Christmas last year. It was jarring hearing him talk then, but the two lines in Dark Beginnings episode 2 sounded much better to me. Gotta hear him with more lines again to see if the direction/voice editing still feels good to listen to.
