I think I fully understood Miquella's plot and the nature of the vow. The new Radahn Greatswords are the Greatswords Radahn had BEFORE he conquered the Stars. The description makes it clear because it's very important. "Greatswords of black steel wielded by Radahn in his youth. A pair of weapons decorated with a lion mane motif. These were in his possession immediately before his triumph over the stars-the swords of a lord who does not rely on physical strength and gravity alone." The Greatswords use light but require no faith, they have a different engraving from the gravity sigil, showing rays of light, and the description also says it does not rely on strength and gravity alone. Radahn made a vow to become Miquella's Consort, and in turn Miquella would help him conquer the Stars. But in the base game Radahn has different Greatsword, the "Starscourge Greatswords" "Curved greatswords of black steel wielded by General Radahn. A pair of weapons decorated with a lion mane motif. Radahn earned considerable renown as the Starscourge in his youth, and it is said that it was during this time he engraved the gravity crest upon these blades." Radahn just fashioned a completely new set of swords with new engravings. The description of the mne new sword SPECIFICALLY states that these new gravity crest engravings are from AFTER he already acquired reknown with this title. This is something I never noticed before, but really makes me believe there was a deliberate intention to set up this betrayal mini-plot. Radahn did not keep his word and betrayed Miquella, which is why Miquella had Malenia kill him to use his soul at the Gate of Divinity. The reason for Radahn not keeping his word is the same reason as to why he made new swords with a new crest after acquiring the title of Starscourge: hs pride and search of honors and glory. His claim to have conquered the Stars would have been hollow if it was known that it was achieved though Miquella's power.

In that video at the end there when the guy was bringing up that posture brakes and such has been in it every soul's game. I decided to start Dark Souls 1 again, and was too handing a scimitar and was fighting the Taurus demon without it up being upgraded any. I staggered him three times when fighting him, I had never seen that before because I almost always used the fire bomb method.
Feels good to hear you vent about not being able to understand Elden Ring's story. Also, I agree. It's healthy to move on to other things. New, good things, that don't drive us insane.

1:20:00 When Rata is talking about Radagon, when he is first mentioned, and there being noting said about Radagon having been involved in the war against the Fire Giants, he is, strictly speaking, correct. However, the Ancient Hero of Zamor, whose clan is an ancient enemy of the Fire Giants and which participated in the war, drops Radagon's Scarseal, which talks about representing "the lifelong duty of those chosen by the gods." The Hero having this item implies that he was an agent of Radagon in some way, opening the possibility for Radagon having had, at minimum, an indirect part against the Fire Giants. Of course, if at least some of the clan served Radagon, it raises the question of why the Ancient Hero of Zamor is imprisoned in an Evergaol and why all Zamor knights wear prisoner shackles. Very odd.
Well if the purge takes place after the Liurnian wars with the whole Gaius and Radahn thing. The Omen curse must have been placed during the purge so Morgott and Mohg could be younger than Rykard and Radahn. And so Radagon could still be with Rennala while Godfrey is still around with Marika.
I also want an ER movie now. Miyazaki has proved he can't be trusted to share important information with us from the backstory. If Miyazaki refuses to let us know core details of what George wrote, and he does so wantonly, without that refusal adding anything of value to our audience experience - let George handle it. Let George kick Miyazaki out of his baby tyrant high chair and take over the storyteller role and actually just fucking tell us what his story is.
Also of note: The DLC we got seems to be wildly unfinished and kluged together, with vital story content being cut out and reshaped into what they actually released. I think that's part of why its story impact sucks so badly. And that was true of the base game too- the cut content questlines we KNOW about thanks to data miners were vastly better contributions to the story and a game that included them would have been far more comprehensible than the fractured, piecemeal story experience game we got. Elden Ring is unlike FROM's other games in the degree to which cut and unfinished content impacts the resulting integrity of the story. Miyazaki and FROM are making a videogame, and they've demonstrated that when production problems happen with game content, they let sacrifices happen, and those sacrifices have an outsized impact on our understanding of the story because the content was doing work revealing important information to us and when they cut that content they didn't put that information anywhere else, so we don't get it. They're making production sacrifices that are responsible as a company, but that's causing story sacrifices that are irresponsible as storytellers. And I'm sick of it!! I say fuck it. You made a good game, and a bad story. So it's unhealthy for me to be attached to the story. It's only healthy for me to appreciate the game.
We're wrong in thinking that Miyazaki made a perfect story dollhouse where every reveal and hidden detail was intentional. FROM as a company scrambled to get this out the door, and had to leave things behind that they didn't plan to. What we got is not an intentional work; it's whatever they could get done enough to leave in by release.
Miyazaki said in interviews that when push comes the shove the gameplay has priority. It stands above all else. We know elden ring was delayed a month, we know it was developed during rona time and we know that it released with multiple unfinished questlines like jarburg or nepheli.
