The demigods seem to come in groups of three siblings from each of Marika/ Radagon's marriages: Godwyn, Morgott and Mohg from Marika and Godfrey; Ranni, Rykard, and Radahn from Radagon and Rennala. The only group that seemed to break this trend was Miquella and Melania, born of Marika and Radagon. We had guessed before, based upon butterfly theory (Aeonian, Nascent, and Smoldering) that there was a third demigod spawned from this marriage, one associated with fire, and for a while the consensus was that this was most likely been Melina; however, given this trailer, I think we now have our third empirean demigod: Messmer. Not only does he bear the red hair indicative of Radagon's lineage, he is associated with fire, matching what we had theorized using the butterflies (specifically, this fire seems to be a very vivid red, which may indicate the presence of Destined Death, though it may also be some form of bloodflame), and him referring to "mother" in regards to "sanctioning lordship in one so bereft of light" would make sense in the context of him addressing Marika in allowing a tarnished, one spurned by the grace of gold, to become Elden lord. However, as mentioned, his flames may also be bloodflame, which may tie him back to the formless mother, as you had proposed. He also seems to be a very conflicting character, scorning the tarnished for lacking light, yet he himself is relegated to the world of shadow. Furthermore, he is associated with serpents, which are synonymous with treason against the erdtree, as seen by the grave duelist set, as well as the god-devouring serpent symbolizing "blasphemy". One can only wonder what made Messmer either such a traitor or such a threat to the golden order that it was deemed necessary that he be sequestered within the shadows. Perhaps he was involved in the night of black knives in some way? Maybe, as some people have suggested due to the paintings in volcano manor of the erdtree aflame, he was responsible for some directed attack against the erdtree, trying to burn it down? Whatever the case, it appears that Miquella is in this land to try and uncover the truth

I would assume Messmer is the son of Marika/Radagon, he talks about killing anyone that is not basking in grace. Kinda eliminates the Formless mother thing + they are called Messmer's flames

The thing with messmer fire is it reminds me of the Destin death and the mother he refers to is the gloom eyed queen

Now that i rewatched the trailer like 10x I noticed that dog boss mouth, it was closed with a hand if u look closely. I also noticed multiple legs under it. I think that it’s puppet similar to the Chinese dragon where multiple people stay under it controlling its mouth and movements for the festivals.

1:42, Messmer looks like a combination of all the demigods, the red hair of Radahn and Malenia, Rykard's serpent(which never dies), Mogh's trident and Morgott's spear infused TOGETHAAA and his flames even has similarities to Maliketh's destined death.

I don't know why nobody can see this, but Messmer = Miquella. He is Miquella's persona corrupted by Mogh's blood God - which is why he is "bereft of light". The mother he is invoking is Marika.

Messmer's mother is likely Marika. He says ''Mother, doest thou truly Lordship sanction in one so bereft of light?'' This implies he knows that Marika planned for the Tarnished to come back and fight to become Elden Lord. His red hair tells me Radagon is his father. He also features several aesthetics and abilities the Golden Order deems heretical. Serpents. Bloodflame. Dragon aesthetics. His eye is yellow and slitted, which tells me he's been doing Dragon Communion. It's possible that the Drake Knights and Rykard are connected to him.

I think the mother that Messmer was talking about was Marika. My theory is that he is a secret child of Marika and Radagon who committed a great many sins. Seen in the fire magic and the snake motifs. I also think this because of the red hair, the only characters we've seen with red hair were children of Radagon. So here's how I think this played out: Messmer was a demigod sibling of Melania and Miquella who eventually turned against the erdtree only to be defeated and banished to this "shadow lands between". Then Miquella ereased peoples memories of his brother (sense he's been shown to have the ability to warp people's minds).

I call it now. The DLC will be way bigger then Limgrave. They love to overdeliver at fromsoft. And Miasaky, said he didnt wanna spoil to much when he said it was as big as limgrave if not bigger. Im 100% sure that this will be so much larger.

I...I thought I was done...I am Elden Lord! This game took everything I had in me to beat it, everything! That fight against Melania still makes me wake up in a cold sweat at night. Just looking at Mesmer gives me awful poop pains. I honestly don't know if I can do it again. But, this trailer, is so freaking bad ass that I don't think I have a choice. Holy Sh*t, I can't believe I have to do this again lol. I'm beginning to think that the whole existence of the Elden Lord is an eternal punishment...that you are nothing more than a glorified assassin, a pawn, before you are cast aside after you are useful. Either way...time to suit up and start stretching for June.

I heard that Miyazaki confirmed in a Japanese interview today that Messmer is one of Marika's children, so I think when he says 'mother' in the trailer, he is talking to a statue of Marika that is behind him. Or possibly Marika herself? That would be sick. Either way, I'm inclined to believe now that Messmer is actually the 3rd child of Marika/Radagon and he is the one who represents the smouldering butterfly, not Melina as we previously thought.

Why would Mesmer be talking about the formless mother? He talks about a mother and that mother essentially being the one who approves of us becoming Elden lord (which is the whole reason Marika sent away the tarnished). Plus: Aeonian butterfly - Malenia. Nascent butterfly - Miquella. Smoldering butterfly - Mesmer. Additionally I wonder about the statues at the Haligtree now, the ones with three people, before I thought the third person was Godwyn but now I wonder if it's actually Mesmer prior to whatever happened that sent him to the shadow realm.

I really hope they add a Malenia related questline (or expand the existing one) since we'll get to meet Miquella (presumably) in the DLC.

Basically a new game

I just started playing Elden Ring not too long ago, and it’s freakin’ awesome! The only other game at this level is Monster Hunter World ICEBORNE. What Monster Hunter World got was a massive ICEBORNE expansion, not some little DLC. The same can be expected for Elden Ring. I’ll definitely continue playing Elden Ring as well as Monster Hunter World ICEBORNE. Oh yeah, one other thing... 1500 hours in this game might seem like a lot, but it’s one of only two games (the two I mentioned, obviously) worth putting not hundreds, but thousands of hours into. Games like Monster Hunter World and Elden Ring are once in a lifetime opportunities. Right now there’s nothing that comes even close to the awesomeness of these two stellar games.

Funny thing is it took me 4 months exactly to get the platinum trophy on my ps4, this is a sign, time to get the platinum on my ps5 19/42, ugh why didnt they let me transfer my trophies over just about every game i own did that but this one and Subnautica

im gonna stand by this is gonna be the reveal that the world we played in while 'real' in a roundabout way was still ultmately a dream that markia made miquella create to enrapture the whole world or perhaps only those granted the grace of gold to live in a almost alice in wonderland dream world where death didnt exist and all could live as plentifully as they wanted wityh perhaps those tarnished being those rejected from the dream who 'died' in that world with us coming back to life was our souls being returned to our dream self bodies. beyond this i think in the real world the guy related to messner is actually rykard due to the red hair and emperyan body as well as his heavy connection to snakes and outright confirmation that he is a child of marika with the lion head omen i believe to perhaps be morgott due to the fact that godfrey is the only person in the whole game directed connected to lions and his children are at leawst connected to him through both blood and in morgotts case, the interaction we see in game so that plus the lion heads arena looking very similar to morgotts both in apperance AND its location in reference to the erdtree, as well as it even having a literal crown of horns, i believe it is morgotts true form which could even be why the omens are so hated not just because of their horns and resemblance to the crucible but also because in the real world, they look FAR more monstrous. bheyond that as a final point for the dream theory, is the fact that we see a image that VERY closly resembles stormveil BUT its ever so slightly different in specific ways with the entire dlc looking more drain of color and realistic and even having a similar vibe to bloodborne as opposed to elden rings colorful and weirdly vibrant world almost like all the color in the base game is because its a dream world where color is all the more important and representitive than in the real world.

Fromsoft are total chads. Elden Ring took the world by storm. Any other company would have tried to milk it for as long as possible and launch more paid content within 6 months. From just kept making balancing patches, based on direct feedback from the community. Released a whole new game, in a completely different genre. All of that while slowly cooking the DLC. They just don't care about how other companies do things, and I respect that.
