The Shadow in the picture is likely one of those stand-in plastic models they use during the films production, like they had for Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Also explains why you see some detail, but others are missing like the iconic red stripe on his leg. Knuckles's stand-in was also missing his crescent moon mark on his chest.

Looking really good so far. The adventure reference on the title is really cool. Shadows shoes look neat, look a bit more tech like, which makes sense. Had a feeling that shadow is going to have a different look for the 3rd movie glad to hear it will officially be changed. 💙❤️
When we see head, there are 4 things that will complete the look is: His eye shape being more sharp and angular as they should be. His quills being just right and not to closed in or too spread out. His chest fur being pronounced with all that floof. and for me, he needs the fangs, all the best Shadow Renders and artwork has Shadow sporting fangs.
A thing I noticed about the shoes in the teaser image is that they don't have the little curve on the sole that Shadow's shoes normally have. Shadow originally had that curve because of SA2's partnership with SOAP, which meant that Sonic and Shadow had to have SOAP shoes so they could grind on rails and because SOAP shoes have that curve, the two hedgehogs obviously had them as well. The movie design doesn't seem to have that SOAP shoe curve, the designers probably just overlooked that detail and chose not to implement it so it's probably nothing big but I just thought I'd point it out. Another thing I noticed us that they did the MCU thing to his shoes where they add a bunch of random lines LOL, idk if other people are gonna have much of a problem with it, but I don't really mind it cos it's not too agregious in this case.
6:27 It's more likely that it's because this is just a plastic standee. It would make sense to simplify the body. 9:18 also they just streamlined the appearance of the Ring Cuffs to better fit the real world aesthic of the movie, which I think was the right call.
A few things, the rings that were used in the original model were probably re-used assets from the warp rings used in both movies. It looks like the black of the shoe was pushed back and is now split in half rather than at a slant. The first time Shadow took off his Inhibitor Rings was in ‘06 not his own game released in ‘05. He used his other Chaos abilities there first though. And in SA2 Shadow was released from a military base by Eggman, he wasn’t on the ARK, that was the whole point of Maria sending him off the ARK. Speaking of which, I wonder if we will get to see Maria and more of Shadow’s past in the movie since it’s mostly glossed over in favor of the more tragic part of his past. Considering there were talks of the movie taking bits and pieces of his story from SA2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, it wouldn’t surprise me if this becomes a two parter, this first one being focused on SA2 ending with the Finalhazard, and the next part taking place around Heroes and Shadow. Heroes is important don’t get me wrong, it can’t hold an entire movie though. Especially when 95% of the cast hasn’t even been introduced into the movie’s canon yet. This is just a byproduct of the choice to go out of order when it comes to the movie’s adaptions. SA1 can’t be ignored for long though, Chaos and the Chao are integral to understanding the Emeralds. Maybe it’ll play a part in the Knuckles TV show, but SA2’s story hinges on the events of SA1 having already happened for context. They better have Live and Learn in the movie I swear.

I love that they did the logo from SA2! I want to see Shadow have his red streaks on his legs and arms and his quills to be more upwards as well. I’m so excited and nervous to see who will voice him, I would say Keanu Reeves and this is massive copium lol I want Jason Griffith to voice him but I know it’s not gonna happen and if it does happen I will be burst into tears of happiness
Let's remember this is just the stand in model so it's not gonna have the stripes on his fur arms and legs. The Knuckles stand in didn't have the stripe on his chest so you can compare this to that. Once we see the film in it's full glory you can expect everything in it's place as it should be!
What's even better is that this isnt even the animated design of Shadow, it's just the standee they use for reference to lighting effects, so I cant imagine how detailed he'll look on the big screen!
I'm so happy to know that shadow's face model won't be the one that he had in the end credits of sonic movie 2! Cuz that was basically just sonic, but recolored with the colors of shadow. And sonic looks a bit too cute, so I hope for shadow, they give him a more menacing face with his triangle eyes!
I was hoping Movie Shadow would get a redesign, I could tell when I watched movie 2 a second time in theaters that it was just Sonic's 3D model made to look like Shadow. I hope they do some neat things with his design Shadow has looked mostly the same for the past 20 years. Boom and Prime don't look that much different from VG Shadow so I hope theirs some Uniqueness. Still very curious about Eggman or If Shadow take over in place of Eggman. I also wonder if for the credits instead of the Pixel art like the first two movies, if they will do Dreamcast Polygon models Since they are loosely adapting the SA2 story.
In the original Adventure games, Super Sonic looks like Shadow's default form, hence why the theory is that humans who saw Super Sonic for the first time in Station Square used that as reference to arrest Sonic for Shadows crimes in SA2. I hope they pull through in on that in the movie.
What's more interesting is that this movie might dive just deep enough into the history of the Robotnik family and a potential reveal of a hedgehog clan like the owls and echidnas. Ark could still exist but maybe instead of a space colony but a deep underground research facility like how the Hive was in the first Resident Evil movie. That was controlled and managed by a environmental A.I called the Red Queen. Plus Shadow's location was listed as a black site. Having it underground makes it even more perfect plus being hidden for over 50 years. Also I think Shadow has combat leather gloves on which makes sense for him. Curious to see what motorcycle will be his choice vehicle.

I really do think that Shadow is gonna be given SO MUCH care though, given the fact that Jeff has history working with Shadow and really likes him as a character - with him in the director's seat I've got a lot of faith that Shadow's gonna be done justice for Sonic 3
I really like that you can see a bit of a line up to down on the rings- even if he doesn't take them off in the movie, it's showing that they *can* be removed. Nice subtle details! I don't know whether I want it or not, but I remember there was rumors for a while about Jason Momoa voicing Shadow. (It's also coming out on the same day as the Mufasa movie. I'm not worried 😆)

Given that they have till December next year; we will probably get Shadows casting in either Spring or Summer. I don't recall when Knuckles and Tails casting for movie 2 was announced but Shadows will probably be around that similar time frame.
Only Sonic fans can fully analize a character's shoe lol. But seriously Movie Shadow looks good, with this and the post credit scene we get a good idea on what he'll look like and I gotta say he looks amazing, I cant wait to see him in motion.
At least Theirs some fun details pointed out, like having Shadow wear leather gloves to contrast Sonic's Cloth gloves does a great job at further contrasting Shadow to Sonic than other Sonic media.
More than likely they will get a celeb to play Shadow. I still hope for Adam Driver who was Kylo Ren in Star Wars to play Shadow, But I also wouldn't mind another surprise person like Idris Elba as Knuckles or the obvious popular choice being Keanu Reeves.
I could definitely see them cutting Rouge from the movie, but at the same time they've been doing this odd push with her in recent stuff like Prime and Dream Team. Then again, it'd be weird to get her before Amy, and all three of them being added in one movie would be a lot, so who knows.
11:49 Shadow was always in GUN’s HQ or whatever in SA2. Eggman broke into the building to uncover Gerald’s greatest creation, which was Shadow. Then Shadow tells Eggman to meet him on the Arc. Since Shadow was released automatically in the Movie, I’m guessing he’s gonna have like a Prison Escape sequence with him fighting GUN, instead of Eggman breaking him out
man I loved it, it's okay that we didn't see his entire look but it already looks really good and I liked the details of the transition from the design to the film version, In addition to the film's logo being the same as Adventure 2's, you can see some really cool details like the Air Shoes which are the same as the game's but with a more technological detail like the lines that help the shoes to bend and the Inhibitor rings have a dividing line and a lock, they really thought about how things would work in practice and I loved that! I don't think we'll get a trailer at TGA, maybe a teaser about the movie and the Knuckles show, but an actual trailer only in the middle of next year
I liked seeing Shadow in Movie 2, though his design did always seem a little off, but I didn’t realize he was literally a Sonic palette swap. It’s nice to know he’s getting some more time to develop for Movie 3. Thanks for a great video; you make for good listening company on a snowy walk to work.
I very much hope the cutscene with Sonic and Shadow having this dialoge gets adapted into the third movie. Sonic: "Hey, I found you, Faker!" Shadow: "Faker? I think you're the fake hedgehog around here. You're comparing yourself to me...Ha, you're not even good enough to be my fake." Sonic: "I'll make you eat those words!"
Shadow's hibitors are actually clip ons. If he removes those mother*** in the movie, I'm gonna lose it. Also it's not Thunderbolts, it's the live-action Lion King prequel that's gonna be released in december 20th

The 2 most important things that they have to get right are the tone of both Shadow's bacskstory and Shadow's personality. Shadow has to be the straight man to Sonic's funny man and thus be a conduit through which Sonic finally matures into an adult. Shadow can't be another Knuckles where he's serious but played for gags, Shadow's personality should balance out Sonic's and the rest of the gangs. Obviously I don't want them to go over edge lord with him, it is a kids movie after all, but I do want them to treat Shadow with the love and respect that he deserves. That brings me to my second point being, Maria has to die and it must be serious in nature and not downplayed with humour (like the MCU is so guilty of doing now a days). Maria's story and how it relates to Shadow is so integral in determining the character that Shadow becomes that it needs to be treated with a serious and mature tone. It helps in making Shadow go from a somewhat 1 dimensional, evil looking Sonic to a fully fleshed character with sympthatic motivations and an understandable reasoning for his actions. The way I would personally tell this story is by sprinkling in flashbacks from Shadow's persepctive as he slowly opens up to those around him. This way it builds mystery and intrigue around the character, his memories and why he's doing what he's doing. By sprinkling flashbacks throughout the movie, you build Shadow's relationship with Maria, create mystery for new time fans who haven't played the game and most important of all, give Shadow a motivation that both makes him sympthatic but ultimately tragic as he is essentially going agaisnt Maria's last dying wish of protecting the people on the planet. But yeah overall, I'm looking forward to the movie and the Shadow fit along with the title design give me hope that they'll knock it out of the park (at least in the design section)

You can see a line down the golden rings on both his wrists and ankles indicating that they CAN come off. I really hope they're inhibitor rings so he can pop off like super saiyan
I think for the beginning of Movie 3, they might just show peaceful moments Gerald creating Project Shadow and see more happy grandfather n granddaughter relationship with Maria. Gerald tells Maria how Shadow will be the ultimate protector of earth n will be the one who will show her how beautiful earth is. Then one of the military soldiers shows up and could be like Disney by tell him "Naw fuck ur dreams, either create the ultimate weapon for the military or ur "fired :)". That or we see the military just pretend to help Gerald achieve his dreams and later in the movie, we actually see their true intentions later in the film. Either way I think we'll get Gerald or Maria touch the glass where Shadow sleeps in and one of them will give a hard line of how Shadow will be the ultimate protector for the world and then movie transitions to the present with Sonic and gang doing goofy shit or whatever. Actually now that I think about it, if Jeff can't do the Space Ark n just have a deep underground lab then how will Maria's disease of not being able to go on earth work? The whole reason why the Space Ark even exists is because Maria couldn't survive on Earth thxs to the diesse n her only place she could survive at is the Ark. I guess her disease is fictional so they could just make up a new excuse for why Maria can't walk amongst the people and say that the underground lab have special properties that will keep Maria alive or something. Either way I kinda prefer n hope the Space Ark is adapted since I want to see moments where Maria n Shadow looks at earth n have moments Maria wishes she was on it n Shadow promise Maria that someday she will experience Earth.
