Shadow Systems MR920L - The Ultimate Glock Clone? 

I use an MR920 Combat as my primary sidearm. It had a few hiccups during the break-in period (first 200 rounds). Zero problems over the past 500+ rounds. I find it very flat-shooting and accurate. IMO the Shadow Systems pistols are what Glock should've evolved into 10-15 years ago.

I’ve come to really enjoy Shadow systems pistols. I have 3. The xr920, mr920 elite with the threaded bronze barrel and a combat model mr920. All 3 have been flawless with zero malfunctions. Great video. I always use your code buying talon grips. Greatly appreciate it.

Great video as always. I love the Shadow Systems series of handguns. You can tell an old school kinda guy from their references. The Jackson 5 ABC, 123. That brought back some memories. Polyester suits, long hair, disco and hot rods. Those were the days.

I was on the Glock platform for 23 years, and I never thought I would move off the brand. Then I shot an MR920 around Christmas of 2021, and the grip texture, grip angle, accuracy sold me. Six months later all of my Glocks were gone, replaced by Shadow Systems guns, with ZERO regrets. So two things I saw criticized: 1.) The 200 round break in. First I love that we live in an era where people look sideways at such a concept, but you and I and many others are old enough to remember when EVERYTHING got a 200 round break in, Colts, Brownings, CZ’s, Beretta, GLOCK, HK’s, Sigs, Smith & Wessons, Walthers, and not just semi autos, but revolvers from the major brands as well. Shadow Systems have upped the performance in an affordable Glock Operating System pistol. Shooting 200 rounds of 9mm isn’t really that onerous. But if it’s too much, then a person should stick with Glock for the lack of a break in, but sacrifice all of the things that make Shadow Systems so good. The way to make sure it’s not an ammo issue while doing the break in , is run quality practice ammo from say Federal or Speer, for example. I’ve run nothing but 124 grain Blazer Brass through my guns. Running better ammo just takes most of the guess work out of ammo issues during the break in. And yes I had a few issues with the Blazer ammo, but NEVER after the 200 round break in period. 2.) in the comments people complaining about the price. The reality is if you bought a stock Glock, and turned it into a Shadow Systems clone, you’ll be well past the $900-$1100 price point that of an elite model from Shadow Systems. The good news is that Shadow Systems introduced their Foundational series guns 2 years ago. Essentially a high quality budget line version of their Elite series guns, at a 679 dollar$ price point. I would recommend these over any Glock MOS gun, at about the same price point all day every day. The Foundation guns are just a better gun all around with way more features than any Glock MOS. Of course there still is the 200 round break in period. Great video, and nice shooting. I only wish they had made the MR920L in their discontinued Combat Line. Again excellent video sir.😎✌️

I realize that you’re a pro shooter, but I notice that you bring your head down to engage the sights. I believe that if you bring the gun up a tad bit higher to your line of sight, I think your shot placement will improve greatly. (US NAVY VET EXPERT PISTOL MARKSMEN)

Awesome run…where Shadow systems messed up was pricing. They make a good product but initially priced them slightly too high. I’m running the 920L as a home protection weapon and I Love it initially wanted to run it in matches but Trigger work doesn’t play well with the brand.

I like them. Have had a few already. After the 200 rd break in, no issues. Granted for me 100 rds and no issues after but guess i got lucky.

Just rewatched the video and noticed the trigger shoe is similar in concept to the Canik Rival where it’s a wide face flat trigger. In the case of the Rival, it’s incredible thanks to the 90 degree crisp break with no take up and a very short reset. Might be worth a head to head.

I don’t think these are bad guns, but I don’t quite understand the hype around them. Aren’t they just designed after a gen3 Glock? It seems to me like the patents ran out, and we’ve all moved on to better things. I guess as a lefty, I’d prefer a gen5 with my own mods. Even if I wasn’t a lefty, I’d go gen5. Someone explain to me the fascination.

The one and only thing that keeps me from buying a Glock is that they just look so bland. Maybe once I have everything I feel I need to have I'll go for a Glock just for shits and giggles just to say I have one but since I'm on a limited budget, the ones I have picked and the last one that I need to complete my carry cycle I want them to be reliable models and look appealing to me. Once I pick up a Hellcat Pro here in a couple weeks I'll have everything I need, then I'll think about getting a glock at some point in the future.
