If you shoot them side by side the Springfield Echelon is a smoother flatter shooter, than the Walther PDP. I'm back on target quicker with the Echelon, so my speed is better.

The Walther magazine compatibility between the ppq and the pdp is only between the ppq m2 but not the m1. What is often not mentioned about the Walther trigger is that although the trigger weight may be 4.5 pounds it feels much lighter in use

I have both and I kill it with the echelon which shocked me completely and I love my walther triggers especially my Q5match, but man I was drilling the targets with the echelon and it was not nearly as snappy as the PDP that has always been one of the things about the PDP that kept me from shooting it more. I have to constantly adjust my grip on the PDP but the echelon was just drill away and clover leafs every where. I was not sure if I was gambling on the Springfield but boy am I glad I got it,it’s going into my rotation for sure!!! Thank bro!!!

The Walter PDP has a step chambered barrel. I am not sure if the Springfield has the same design with their barrel. the PDP has a slight advantage because the chamber wraps around the cartridge, more snug and you get more feet per second. Approximately 50 to 80 feet more

Niece review. I don’t own the Walther but the Echelon quickly displaced my other full size 9 mms (Glocks and SIGs) as my favorite. I do have an optic and light mounted. Interesting accuracy comparison. My Echelon shoots well with FMJ ammo but it’s outstanding with higher quality ammo. In my case, I’ve found that SIG Elite V-Crown 124 JHP gives amazing accuracy.

For me, the PDP feels better in hand, but I like the makeshift go fast pedal on the Echelon, so I'll call that even. But the trigger for me still goes to the PDP. The PDP hits the wall, and it breaks. The Echelon hits a wall, then has a little mush before breaking. It isn't bad, but I shoot it slower, and it reminds me too much of a Glock trigger.

PDP fan boy here. One other difference: the Echelon has a Glock-style grip angle. The PDP doesn’t which lends itself to more easily to point-and-shoot. With the Echelon, for better accuracy, you have to rotate your support hand’s wrist more forward into the traditional “Glock-grip”, which can put a strain on that wrist.

The PDP appears to have a higher bore axis. Assuming thats the case, do you find it "snappier" than the Springfield? The other thing with the Springfield, do you have any issues with the ambi mag release hitting your hand when engaging it with the thumb causing you to break your grip to use it or even stopping the mag release from engaging fully because its hitting the hand on the opposite side? This is why a lot of folks dont like ambi mag releases. Great comparison.

I’m a Walther fan, loved the PPQ. But there’s a couple of things to note. First the PDP is NOT compatible with PPQ M1 mags. The PDP is only compatible with PPQ M2 mags. I’m going to assume that the reviewer forgot about the two versions of the PPQ. The reviewer also didn’t note the time it took him to fire those 10 shots on to the paper targets, that was an oversight on his part that left out valuable information. The PDP is not really conceal carry friendly compared to the Springfield. All that said, I’m not a fan of either handgun. The slide is too blocky on the PDP and the beaver tail on the Springfield is too small. For those reasons I wouldn’t recommend either one.

Like my PDP a lot. Don't have the Echelon but my conceal is the Hellcat RDP which I also like a lot. I toyed around with an Echelon at the shop the other day and I assume I would like it a lot, too. This comparison makes 100% sense and I think it comes down to personal preference as the deciding factor. PDP has a better trigger but it's one of the world's best non-1911 triggers. Echelon feels like my Hellcat's trigger and it's above average to be sure. Like the Echelon's optic mounting concept. End of day it's a 6 of one half dozen of the other situation.

Enjoyed the video and understand this is your opinion, but coming from an armorer once you have a trigger reset there is no take up. Any take up is due to operator failure, and sadly its hard to do a fair comparison if one is stock and the other has modifications even if its the sights. Also shooting a compact VS a standard or full size makes a difference as well, due to barrel length, slide weight, grip size and so on. I would love to see you do a full size comparison of both without any aftermarket install, and a 3 shot triangulation comparison instead of 10 rounds. just my opinion on the matter, thank you for the video.

Dumb comment from the peanut gallery below but I like talking about pistols so I use youtube to write down my thoughts. I have a really dumb technique to test how naturally I can hold a pistol but the better I can execute the technique tends to show itself by how accurately I can shoot a pistol at 10-20 yards. I put the web of my thumb on the back of the pistol, release it by not touching any finger or thumb on the pistol and I extend my hand above my head to see if I can balance it just on the web of my thumb. Out of all of my pistols, and I have ... several plus because I love pistols go in this order, some I have more than one barrel length but that doesn't seem to affect how much time it takes me to accomplish full arm extension: 1. Walther PDP; 2. Canik Mete; 3. HK VP9; and 4. Glock 17. Those are all really close and each of them my best time is about 3 seconds. Hardest ones are my CZ 75 SP01 with no magazine but when I have a magazine in it balances well and shoots extremely well. Same goes for the Canik TP9 SFX. Strangely those are both competition pistols while the others are not. I guess my H&K VP9 Match is sort of a competition pistol which I love but it's not my personal fastest pistol.

They’re both similar to me in that both the slides remind me of a Toblerone bar 🧐

People always say you can’t trust Springfield, but they never say why. Don’t know what they are talking about. By the way, good comparison 😎👍

They have plastic rings on their chests, attached to strings. They pull on it and then they repeat what they heard someone else say. They don't know why either, but they think it makes them sound cool.

PDP is for unbiased people who want a modernized Glock, it's the ultimate duty pistol. CZ Shadow is for everyone else. All other pistols don not mattter. Even Staccatos are useless unless you want to flex with it. It's much less reliable over a CZ at a high cost of reliability. For rifles, you only need an AR. The gun world is simpler than most people think.

Walther looks cooler, Echelon shoots smoother.

Echelon is the 3rd most accurate 9 mm pistol I own... S&W Competitor and Pro Series pistols are the only 9's i own that are more accurate... I've shot Walther and Canik, both are nice, but neither is more accurate, at least for me, than my S&W's.

you shot Echelon flatter

We aren't talking about rifles here. Anyone who says that one pistol is a significantly flatter shooter than another is plainly delusional at best. There is no way that a bullet from the same caliber is going to have a consistently significant larger drop from one pistol to another within 25 yards. Just an idiotic statement

I believe the OP was referring to the muzzle rise during recoil. With handguns, this is typically how the word "flat" is used as an adjective. It has nothing to do with an arc of travel - which you correctly noted would be almost impossible to distinguish.

Great comparison video, I just have zero interest in either of those two pistols.
