Just wanna say your coverage of the media tour has been very informative in terms of stuff you captured; it allowed us to kind of observe the nuances of Superbolide in action and we now also have some video evidence of the combo timer being extended to 15s from the current 10s. In my eyes you're the media tour MVP
If that's the boss theme for dungeons IMAGINE what they do for the final boss theme. I mean remember Shinryu, you go through the whole game to the stormblood final theme and then Shinryu took that amazing theme and cranked it to 11 all the while kicking your ass.
dunno where these people coming from with complaints, job looks fire and imma pick it up, if numbers is what they're concerned with those can easily be changed.
I hope you make a video for every class with their start in the new expansion. The video is well written and well edited and frankly your audio is miles better than a lot of content creators.
This was one of the best guides I have seen to date on gunbreaker, at the very least the explanation and how each ability interacts with one another. I hope to see more guides from you :)
As a Final Fantasy 8 fan, and someone who has been trying to get into tanking more, this class is an absolute godsend. I'm gonna spend some of the next month leveling and practicing tanking on Paladin, I think, that way I'm not going into level 60+ dungeons and trials all like, "Okay, so... what's the difference between MT and OT again?"
So what the difference between them? Does the main tank occupy the boss and off tank occupy the adds? Do you often need to tank switch and how do you do that?
@@AIIXIII0 MT is the one that keeps the boss' attention for the most part. If there's adds, it's usually up to the OT to handle those, that way the MT doesn't accidentally turn the boss towards the party and direct AOE's at them. As for tank swapping, I haven't really seen it done yet, but I do understand that it is a thing that happens under certain circumstances. As for how it's done, tanks have an ability called shirk, which redirects a percentage of agro to a targeted party member. So basically, you use that on the other tank, they can use provoke, and then unleash a combo on the enemy, and they should be able to hold onto the aggro. Tank stance is also important to consider. Typically, the MT will have tank stance on while the OT doesn't, though I think there are some situations where it can be beneficial for OT to snap tank stance on temporarily (like if you need to draw stubborn adds away from party members.)
Every single last tank feels and plays great. I'm actually having a hard time deciding on an actual main. I want it to be GNB, but DRK is pretty tantalizing...
I've been a caster main since 2.0 but hot damn does GNB look fun. FFVIII was my first FF and gunblade my favorite weapon of all time. I think it might be time for me to switch mains lol
This video honestly gave me some more hope for the trust system of all things. Seeing that bridge mechanic and how each of the npc’s tackle it differently is really interesting! Also, ye Idk if I will level GNB after DRG or War but i ammmm so excited for it you rock ^^
The way I see Camouflage statistically work is 10% static dmg reduction and 10% from all parries (50% of the time a 20% dmg reduction). It's basically Rampart (including CD) but with half the dmg reduction having RNG in it. So if lucky it could reduce more dmg, and if unlucky it couldn't... xD Would have been cool to use if GNB had some kind of skill to use off of parries.
This class looks amazing, i am expecting chamges to some abilities but looks very solid as a whole. Will be jumping into this and trying it out myself.
Very detailed video! Gunbreaker's going to be my first job to play through the MSQ, gonna try to get out of my comfort zone (healing/DPS) and more in the swing of tanking this time.
So I came to the game little over a month ago and when I was looking at jobs to play I saw what I wanted to be my 3 mains red mage, machinist, and gunbreaker. Sadly gunbreaker wasn't out yet so I worked my way up to the other 2 and got them to 70, and honestly Im excited gor shadowbringers. I picked up DRK to learn tanking and the MCH changes have me over the moon. Most of my excitement for GNB is that it looks like it plays more in line with a DPS role which is where I feel most comfortable, so im definitely grabbing it day 1 even if my main plans are to use MCH for the msq.
wow i just noticed that one of the new monsters is called ya-te-veo which means LITERALLY IN SPANISH "I SEE YOU" or me precisely "I ALREADY SEE YOU" and thats kinda creepy if you think about it
It looks like it's supposed to be built around speed, which I'm absolutely down for. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it actually puts speed into it's gameplay. I really wish they had created a unique Haste system that gradually speeds up (kinda like Greased Lightning) for GNB to really hammer in the theme of hacking and slashing, and then finish it with an epic BLM-tier esplosion. But this definitely LOOKS promising.
I must admit never really being a tank player, I dont even have 1 tank at 70, I am quite excited to try this job. This combined with the trust system will allow me to get to grips with the role before I venture into DF with it. Good video Merri, nice to see some youtube content again!!!
Would be interesting to see Superbolide dropped to 2 minutes, but just turn all but 1 HP into a stackable shield, which then fades over 6 seconds or so. Superbolide, nuke-heal to top back off, and you've now got almost double eHP. Once every 2 minutes. Would be nice to see the other "immunities" be a little less homogeneous, too.
I feel like gunbreaker is going to be sooo much fun but I’m also a bit nervous of it being a bit more complicated then most tanks. Well for me that is xD. But I really most excited for Lvl 80 Red Mage and the Dark Knight Rework
Not at all. Honestly, I expect GNB to actually be the EASIEST tank and great for casual players. Which almost has me a bit hesitant to take it into high end content, but we'll see how it pans out.
Very Merri well if you believe it will be the easiest tank then I will look forward to it even more because I’ve been wanting to Main a Tank Class for a while now since atm I main Red Mage and Samurai
Obligatory DMC Joke: If the stance is called Royal Guard, does that mean I’d have to turn it off and switch to Gunslinger if I want to shoot like a badass? Obligatory DMC Joke finished.
I actually really like superbolide. I do think that if hallowed ground stays the same then superbolide has to either have a longer duration or a shorter cooldown than hg.
Gunbreaker is definitely my next class to 80 after Drk, the tank changes have me so happy now that tank stances aren't awkward growths that punish you for using them.
That, and the removal of enmity combos and the addition of more in-depth combat rotations in their place make all of the tanks REALLY fun to play. It's just a fantastic time to be a tank.
Could be wrong but how Im reading Camouflage is that its a 10% reduction on top of the increased parry rate, making it 10% reduction + the parry reduction (believe it was 20%?) whenever the parry happens. So it'll still be somewhat useful against magical attacks mitigating 10% of it, even if its not as great as the other tanks. But like I said I could be wrong and it could really just be a 50% parry that does 10% reduction on parry
I just started playing a couple days ago and I’ve committed to being a samurai and learned it well. I know nothing about being a tank. But now seeing I can just be squall now I’m gonna be a fucking gunbreaker
Camouflage doesn't really "take up a mitigation slot" compared to other tanks. DRK has Dark Mind in this spot, WAR has Thrill of Battle in this slot, and PLD doesn't actually have anything in this slot, but it does have 2 party mitigation tools(veil+wings) with wings also doubling as personal mitigation to make up for the missing slot.
Honestly gunbreaker does look like a lot of fun, I've played as a tank since 2.0 unfortunately I couldn't play 1.0 😭 but I've raided on all 3 tanks and welcome a new tank to play. Just a little sad I won't be able to experience the savage raiding on him as much.
Isn't that so fuckin sad that a bunch of mentally crippled AI's intentionally designed to be slow is still more efficient than half of the human parties?
"These videos are sponsored by Square" Me: OH GET LOST WITH THIS SQUARESPACE CRAP! I'm sick and tired of hearing about that company!!!!" "Enix" Me: ...... oh............. sorry.... please carry on
Yoshi P: Rough Divide Me: Okay..... nice nod, thank you Yoshi P: Fated Circle Me: You glorious bastard! You did two! Yoshi P: Danger Zone..... Me: Song lyric macro, nice Yoshi P: turns into Blasting Zone at 80 Me: Welp, there goes that Macro for 80, wait..... you didn't make..... is LB3???? Yoshi P: You just have to find out what I've done with Lionheart.
Fairly new player here, just starting the Heavensward expansion. This sounds like the job in was hoping, for almost like a blend of DPS and Tank! I'm super excited for this Job Class.
The amount of damage i'm seeing tanks recieve scares me because i just know there's gonna be a ton of wipes from healers who never bothered to see their changes along with the changes to how hard enemies hit from the loss of Protect and defensive tank stances.
Camouflage might have too much of a CD, perhaps 60s would be better. It is definitely maint to reduce fluff damage from the boss AA. I wouldn't say it's amazing, but it's not bad, especially if they intend to make healer heal more, boss might have more significant AA. I wouldn't mind our MT to have that on UwU, there's definitely a few moment where slight, but lengthy mitigation wouldn't hurt Let's not forget that it can Always be paired with either rampart or the 15% damage reduction. So again, 90s might be... "too long", but I wouldn't say it's bad. I think the best use of it would be to pop it 15-20s before a TB is coming (especially if there's a tank swap) Super Bolide does feel weak. Especially considering that Hallowed Ground is my least favorite immunity cd for savage/ultimate content (due to its very long cd) I think giving it Living Dead CD would have been the best,
Yeah. I think the more glaring issue w/ Camo is the fact that parry is still only physical, so suddenly half of that CD is irrelevant when it comes to magic damage. It's also weird that they literally gutted parry cooldowns on every other tank, but give just one to GNB. Reducing it's cooldown would def help to start, though.
I was in love with the fact that this game started out as main rank and off tank and war being the off tank I only started as war in arr because I loved to off tank and now war is main tank I hate that but I’m also in love with war so much now that I can not stop playing it can you please make us wars and please make gunbreaker specialists on off tanking do what u want with the rest butbwe deserve this since for the past few years everyone is like oh your warrior your main tank it enrages me to no end but at the same tine they are right what can I say......
I see u getting down with GB I wasn't to interested in GB but after watching u go ham yea I'll pick that up gg sir Before I forget get the dungeon music is good like really good
Your vid, and your acknowledgement of the classes present issues without straight "I don't think it'll do as good" is what's actually going to make me pick this up as soon as expansion drops. I've been main WAR since I grabbed the game around December, but this feels a bit more like what I was hoping for in WAR. A bit more of an aggressive "You want to target me because I hurt you" tank. That being said, when it comes to the BIG Combo in this class, is it just that continuation transforms based on each skill? Say I have the three main steps set up on 1, 2, and 3, and continuation on 4. Would the combo then be 1,4,2,4,3,4? I use a mouse numberpad so planning my skill layout accordingly to make attack lineups easy is important to me
@@MallowJam Awespme, that makes planning my hotbar layout FAR simpler because I could macro the base skill to work with the different ones and bounce between two skills...gotta iron out my macro skills though
The animation for Superbolide looks like a powerful barrier. It should just be a 50-100% HP barrier that loses 10-20% per server tick, along with enemies attacking it down. Just an idea.
That would be pretty bad, actually. All the tanks have an invulnerability effect for... various reasons, but one of the big uses of their invulnerabilities is that it allows them to get around tank-swap mechanics. A barrier would be a really big nurf and make GNB the only class unable to perform the full scope of their jobs due to it, especially in high difficulty content. I do like the idea of them getting a barrier from it, maybe their lost health--as in health lost from the skill effect--as a barrier after the invulnerability ends? They do super need that invulnerability though. Really important for tanks.
You mentioned it was misrepresented that Sonic Break is listed to give a powder cartrige, but honestly I wonder if that isn’t what it’s supposed to do. The overall potency gain for using it would be high enough to actually be worthwhile then, and that would justify the long cooldown for it.
IIRC, it was discovered that the JP tooltip for Sonic Break had the initial hit and DoT potency listed higher, but I can't confirm that. Either way, I'm not so sure there's a cart that's supposed to be attached to it, but we'll just have to wait and see at this point.
Only a few things I'd be interested in seeing changed for gunbreaker then and that's for superbolide to be around a 250-300 second CD, their damage buffed(It is just a demo so it makes sense that it's not right atm). I'm not really sure how I feel about sonic break entirely. Personally, I don't care for an ability that's just a DoT also the fact that it's 15 seconds on a 30 second timer is a bit weird to me, I'd rather Sonic break dot to be rolled into something else. Camoflage being about a 15% damage reduction instead of 10 as well as maybe 45-60 seconds. Shelltron and raw intuition just seem much better overall then I think No mercy should be buffed.
