I think that Grimoire at the begining was a Pact Beast at the service of God. The power to save his daughter/sister, in return of giving in fully into God's divine order. Gestalt Nier looked too much like an angel for it to be a coincidence. I think once humanity was restored, they would have turned everyone into White disease soldiers.
This is false like all of it. Please check the wiki and make sure to read/watch sidematerials like novels, stageplays, drama CDs, etc. they contain much more lore than the games.
