i think that adds to the charm though...u are in hell😭

My first play through of this game was on N64, it came with a physical map when you bought the game. That map was a lifesaver!

you have to explore the buggs in order to do it , he found the way and did it within a few mins

@@holidayinn4293 another runner user an enemy nearby to make a long jump so there are two options to jump that part.

I used to do this playing it growing up just cause I thought it was cool/funny, had no idea it would do damage if someone was there.

The dark souls allows you to progress to different areas of the world depending on how many you have. In this run we only need 15 of them to open a level 4 gate to finish the game.

@kade Actually now that you mention it, that wasn't the only similarity this game had with the Souls games - it's impossible to 'die' in Shadow Man, just like in DS. If you do, the game just takes you back to Deadside - and the place where you typically spawned was a huge bonfire, just like in DS. Oh, and you are also greeted by a large snake with a human face - just like the Primordial Serpents from DS. I don't know if any of this was intentional but it's sure one Hell of a coincidence if not...

@kade And they stole it from SM64. Ever since that game came out literally every other game after it required some key item to progress: babies, jigsaw pieces, remotes, stars, etc.

Nightmare creatures is like the n64 dark souls before dark souls was even thought of. Shit controls but way a head of its time.

This game was terrifying. Nothing comes close to the dreadful atmosphere and music

It is a fairly recent thing, there is alot of things still being discovered, however it has slowed down since the Covid-19 situation. here is a link to the speedrun.com page www.speedrun.com/shadow_man , the top runners are Vaco, Potoss and myself, however i haven't practiced a run in a fair few months now lol i will come back to it soon though :)

Typically now we use Asson and the Shadowgun from on top of the chair, the reason this works is because once the cutscene has been triggered and you reload the save when you first enter legion, his second forms hitbox is now loaded in the room and just stored where I shoot at, you can easily kill the second form before the first that way :)

@@Telfyr89 Very cool! Congrats! Started playing today, first time ever.. When you were shooting at the second form hitbox on the wall, have you felt on purpose from the top of the throne (or slipped by mistake)? I mean, to fight legion on the ground or were we about to see the end of the fight on top of the throne?

@@ArtLexxGames I haven't deliberately slipped off before no lol, however, because of the really low shadow level in game, the fight is far too hard to do on the ground, i only drop down to fight legion 1 to lead him to where his cut scene trigger will be

ahhh, the sideways roll glitch in this example is PC only, you can sort of achieve it on the Dreamcast version with varying degrees of success, but N64 and PS1 versions were developed differently. There are some independent glitches for the PS1 and N64 versions, for example on PS1 you can roll over lava ! unfortunately though I don't think this roll glitch one is possible on PS1.

I am not sure to be honest, I only attempted to run this game fully on PC, could be worth checking out though :)

@@Telfyr89 I've tried there a lot, and no success. We can jump on top of throne, but we cannot remain there. And also, the Legion hitbox is not on the spot at the wall. I managed to Find a hitbox on the throne itself, however it must be shoot from the door, before entering the room.. as soon you open the door. I've shooted 245 times, but nothing changed on the final battle. Bearing this, i guess there's no way to do the same thing on N64. I'll keep looking for something. Thank you very much!

Bug

If you climb the pillars in a way where you shift from one side to the other on one of the corners, it bypasses the check to see whether the ledge is climbable or not. The fire is only set to hurt you when you grab it, not when you stand on it.

I have this bound to left shift. Start moving left and then hold on to the roll button you assigned to roll up slopes :)

When entering the boss room, saving and reloading after the initial cut scene, Legions second form is also loaded in to the room, it's just invisible, where I am shooting is where the second forms hitbox is. I shoot it 80 times with level 4 shadowgun on its own or 50 times with the shadowgun and Asson (which is far quicker). Doing this you can kill legions second form before killing the first. Hope this helps better explain it !!

@@Telfyr89 Thanks a lot for explaining. But I still wonder how you recognized that the second Legion form actually spawned in the room although invisible?

@@Sestren82 when you shoot in roughly that area (it helps it's a large hitbox too), you can see a slight blood splatter when the shadowgun hits the target, and the usual swirling soul effect as a hit confirmation :)

If you position yourself at the angle of the pillar and jump to the ledge, as shadowman grabs the ledge, he swaps what side he grabs, overriding the damage in favour of a climb animation to bypass the pillars.

@@Telfyr89 Hmm, looks like an easy to reproduce bug then. I mean if no weird manipulations needed to do this i wonder why QA didn't face it.

@@idldmit it is super easy to reproduce once you know how to line it up, i guess its just one of those things testers didn't try. If you try to jump up casually you will get damaged after all, just not under this circumstance where the ledge you grabbed swaps.

Must just have been the default settings I had when I originally recorded this run :)

its a glitch where, if you aim to climb the corners of the pillar at an angle where Shadowman will turn slightly when he grabs the ledge, it can ignore the damage and allow you to climb up consistently.

Legions second phase is actually loaded in to the room but its not visible, here we are killing the final boss in reverse order, we kill phase 2 and then finish phase 1 to end the game.

You mean Hard to finish this game in 20 minutes
