My disinterest towards this DLC has flipped between apathy and antipathy, which is wild considering I used to soak up all the content my go-to guys put out all the way to the Chaos Dwarfs in anxious anticipation to play the content myself. It wasn't just the price and the lack of worthwhile content, but the thing that really ticked me off was that message. Literally that Zombieland gif of Woody Harrelson wiping tears with wads of cash.
I hear you. I used to be constantly checking the reddit, gasping for just a sniff of news. Now it's just meh. Hope CA right the course we're on - but I don't see it happening, think they're feeling a bit apathetic themselves.
I know my comment is late, but to add to this (because I feel exactly the same way): It was mostly the message that was extremely tone-deaf. The "best" part was CA "threatening" to stop supporting Warhammer 3 if people didn't buy this overpriced DLC. Sure, CA, suuuure, you'll stop milking the biggest cash-cow in your company's history to do what ? Release another saga title that will have less than 10 k concurrent players on steam the day after release ? I bet that's where all the big bucks are at.
really good take. I think the main point that people should walk away with is the comparison of this and the champions of chaos. I thought chaos dwarves added some good content but that was also over priced.
I can understand the changling not being your cup of tea. I do find it slightly odd though that you find it directionless when the schemes are your direction.
I feel like its a super good idea in theory, but this wont be fun for a majority of player. Take me for exemple, I have always enjoy true nomad factions in total war. Yet most of the player base dont. Im sure Ill enjoy this cult faction, yet most wont.
Shame how bad this DLC is. I still want it for all the new stuff, especially that giant Wendigo Kislev and Beastmen get, but I'm waiting until a sale in order to get it.
If only a majority of people would stop buying overpriced dlcs on release. I'll never pay full price for anything Total War related again. Unless they can show they can make at least two more full historical games that are on par with Shogun 2 and FOTS tier quality DLC/Expansions. Three Kingdoms was fantastic and I can't lie the Warhammer TWs are the best simply due to the massive depth of mechanics and differences/diversity between units but everything else since, Troy, Brittania, Egypt.. They all seem entirely lacklustre in comparison to Shogun 2. Shogun 2 released over 10 years ago so their current historical quality is unacceptable. Wait for 80% keys for BTW related content. I'm tired of being ripped off by game developers
I agree the Changeling looks uninteressting, very much so in fact. They really missed an opportunity with the shapeshifting imo. They should have made it work with diplomacy and given him a special mechanic for that. Like maybe shapeshift in to Karl Franz and you can attack one of his allies and have real Karl take the blame and same with normal diplomacy where you can approach a faction disguised as an ally and request troops etc. They could have really gone deep and intricate with it, make his campaign about manipulating and sabotaging by actually using disguises and diplomatic trickery instead you just get forms with combat abilities where most forms are pretty useless outside the few really good ones. We get a bunch of fetch quests labeled as "schemes" which are basically just normal battles and then collect a bunch of massively overtuned rewards in a campaign with no stakes as its impossible to lose. The extreme power creep is another thing I find disappointing it really trivialises the game. The new SEM are just insane. Anti large AND a mortis engine?! On top of that atleast 1 of them have a buff and debuff aura. They just went way too far with it while also offering too little, only 1 generic lord for Cathay and one generic hero for Kislev when all 3 factions are lacking both. People were also looking forward to the race updates since game 3 races were poorly implemented and we got next to nothing in that regard. They even removed a changing of the ways ability but Kairos still has skills specifically for that ability in his tree despite it being removed 🤯 The trailer built massive hype but the DLC did not surge the player count and there are no one streaming it, those who are usually streaming are playing other games. Im baffled at how CA could drop the ball this far off the court people say its a management/executive problem but the developers are also to blame for really bad design decisions and sloppy work.
7:23 I think I'm misunderstanding this. How would a myriad of bugs be outside of CA's control? I'm a QA engineer and I'm painfully aware of the extent of issues in the product I test. However, how effectively I can do my job depends fully on the amount of funding and time is allowed for testing, and if those aren't sufficient over a period of time, the issues pile on top of each other to the point where only a major refactor and re-examination of the product could really solve them. This is what I see happening over at CA: not enough funding resulting in an attritioned, overworked QA team, and rigid deadlines not taking into account that the current state of the QA team doesn't allow for proper testing of the game and not allowing for changing direction where sorely needed - to address the resulting myriad of bugs. Edit: otherwise fully agree with your take, yuan bo looks incredibly interesting and might get me to play cathay down the line, mother ostyanka is OP and the changeling is boring and likely broken to fight against. Overall not worth the price even when disregarding the more pressing structural issues
I'd argue it's out of their control at this stage. With every patch new huge bugs are introduced. My guess is there was a lot of talent attrition and that's why the environment is busted. I take your point about funding and resources. Good comment I enjoyed reading it.
Lovely channel here, love the guides and hearing a simple, yet detailed (unit wise) explanation on why there’s a problem. Keep up the great work Blake!
After hearing you say that you started with the chorfs I went to check. Dude you are still small, and yet I had the feeling that you were bigger, always here. Good job, you're gonna go far!
This DLC needs so much more content to warrant that price tag. If they added a legendary hero for all 3 factions, hag lords and lore of hags for Kislev, a new hero type for Cathay, a lord or hero type for Tzeentch, and another 3-5 units per faction then maybe the current price tag wouldn't feel like as much of a ripoff, but what I just listed is more content than the DLC currently has. TWW is one of my favourite series but I have such low hopes for its future now if this is going to be the standard for future DLC. I also just want to add a complaint I have about Mother Ostankya since you mentioned you enjoy her campaign. I don't mind her immortal empires start position, but the fact that you need to ally with another Kislev faction to get access to the majority of the Kislev roster but you start practically on the other side of the world is pretty dumb. Sure you can just spam Akshina Ambushers, but it would be nice if you had access to the rest of the roster without having to journey halfway across the world just to make contact. Her unit roster just feels too small to be enjoyable for me.
You are getting 3 new legendray lords with their own unique campaing and special mechanics. I other words, this DLC has more content that Chaos Dwarf DLC.
@@Nerazmus Sorry about the longwinded reply but I just want to get my opinion out there. Whether this has more content than Chaos Dwarfs is debatable (but I also feel the Chaos Dwarf DLC was a little too expensive). When adding in a new race, the race has to have a bunch of brand new mechanics that separate them from other races, plus they need an entire unit roster, as opposed to the handful of units we get in a lord pack. The Chaos Dwarfs are a very unique and well made race when it comes to mechanics and roster, however the factions don't have their own mechanics to make them feel unique from each other. Each faction in a lord pack receives their own unique mechanics, but they're also usually using mechanics from the already existing race. As a result, it's easier, faster and cheaper to create lord packs than race packs, which would be why, until now, lord packs have always been considerably less expensive than race packs. Previous lord packs also added unique mechanics that were of similar quality to this DLC, and also had unique campaign objectives in the Eye of the Vortex campaign. In terms of value, it's much better to buy 2 older lord packs than it is to buy this. It's cheaper and gives more content (you'd get more factions, units, hero and lord types, and even legendary heroes depending on which DLCs you buy). I don't mind spending $25 on a DLC but I just want the content to reflect the price. If this is going to cost 2.5x as much as previous lord packs, it should include at least double what lord packs used to offer. That would still be less value for your money, but it would be more acceptable than the current pricing. I don't expect these new lord packs to have as much content as what I listed in my first comment, however, that's the amount of content they'd need to have for me to feel that the current pricing is good. Also as a side note, in my local currency Shadows of Change is closer to triple the price of previous lord packs, which makes the price jump even more frustrating. It would only cost a couple extra dollars to buy 3 lord packs, which is extremely better value than this DLC.
@@BlakesTakes420 If CA actually had a big team working on the game and a lot of people bugfixing then I could see myself paying €25 for the DLC. They dont, so no reason to pay that much.
@@hugo3627 exactly. This issue of price doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's the current state of support of the game which I feel is driving the Ill-will towards the price.
Always appreciate your takes, Blake! Couldn't agree with you more. Will definitely be waiting for a big sale for this; however, with all the fantastic games either just released or about to be released, I'm perfectly content with removing myself from CA's antics for now. Keep up the great content!
You Sir are a Genius. The calm Voice is so comforting and the way you approach the Situation and even Quote fellow RU-vidr is great. Please keep up the good work.
You are not the only one. Also for me the changeling doesnt look fun, when you dont have a clear direction or a danger to lose. Also a good point that we had so long no content. The status of Warhammer 3 is miserable. If everything would work fine, we had already a year full of content more. But still some fans believe everything is fine and buy these dlc. For my point. I didnt buy the chaosdwarfs yet. So why should i buy a dlc for the same price with less content?
Price was ok...considering how many houses i ended up clocking in as the changeling alone. side note: do not bring up bugs the devs said all updates till next dlc is to fix all bugs
So pay $25 for a broken DLC for a nearly two year old game, but don't mention bugs when reviewing it, because the devs said they'll eventually fix them? Is that what you're asking, just so I understand?
Your take is hot, as always! I'm really enjoying your content, by the way. You starting this channel has been the only good thing in Total War Warhammer 3 this year.
@@BlakesTakes420 We have to send them a message. I hope they understand it and bounce back. I would prefer if this was a small dlc that just added 3 LLs and a couple units for $8.99, I think nobody would feel robbed as they do now.
I am not sure why the myriad of bugs is beyond their control. The fact that so many bugs exist is unpardonable. CA are at best slow to fix bugs and their attitude towards customers was clearly stated in their recent press release. The initial release of WH3 was very poor, bugs and all. The eventual release of Immortal Empires resurrected the game but continues to receive less support than is needed for such a large undertaking. Why they release more content for Realms of Chaos is unclear as it seems that it adds little to sales. Even on Steam the main game is listed simply as Warhammer 3. Realms of Chaos is no longer in the title. I appreciate your opinion on the 3 campaigns as it differs somewhat from others I have read.
When my WTW3 knowledge hunger I must slake, I never hit the brake on my way to Blake's Take. Saddening times with CA - got to agree, it's just greed. Tell your stakeholders they are going to have to deal with having one less ivory backscratcher and stop scalping the fans guys. I'll be "voting with my wallet" and not buying this one at all (I might change my mind if I see it on sale, but only if it is at least 50% off). Thanks for the take Blake, another banger - now off to rewatch your video on why I suck so hard with Tzeentch, because I evidently wasn't listening closely enough the last time.
Blake...thank you for giving your honest opinion to the masses and not being afraid of being blacklisted by CA. You are a RU-vidr for the people and for this i am subscribing to your channel.
OG total war fan. I remember playing Shogun 1 as a kid, having no real clue what I was doing, no strategic mindset.. The one thing I did know how to do was amass stacks and betray allies mid-battle to gain their land easily lol. I miss that mechanic
honestly its impossible to lose as changeling but the other side is its impossible to win against the changeling so if he doesn't just voluntarily kill himself your only option of killing him is to spam out a dozen heroes and run around the map with them I believe its sometimes possible to tell where his armies are based on the map alone but again your best bet is having the ai intentionally decide to kill itself a changeling played optimally (or at least competently) is practically unkillable
It’s so strange having a Boyar’s leading Stanky’s armies, wtf are their no hag mother lords? That’s #1 on my things to bitch about, it feels incomplete..
*Cries in Ogre DLC* CA just havent caught me with this DLC, thats pricing aside. Their horrible statement was really the final nail in the coffin.. except they were driving it in with wads of our cash instead of a hammer. What i've seen from the cockatrice with the AI is they'll almost certainly charge your spearmen with it so its basically a free kill every single battle.
Another on point, fiery take, not once did you failed me sir. When i got into the Total Warhammer 3(quite recent) i was obsessed, bought everything full price (really expensive here in Brazil) and was basically CAs little bitch, but after playing more of this game and seeing how CA doesnt give a shit about the players or the game itself, only eye-locked on their wallets with no care for bug fixing, i dont feel like buying this DLC right away, hells, its either a 50% off or shadows of change will remain in the shadows for me, not worth the hundo bucks(especially with Mother Ostankya starting location, did the old lady just wander of?).
Well said. I don't think this DLC would have caused nearly as much drama if it weren't for the price. They were charging us the same amount as chaos dwarves and didn't have nearly the content. I hope the next DLC will learn lessons from this. If you're gonna charge a lot, then have a lot of content that is well designed.
I got it for $20 off a 3rd party site; probably still a bit too much for what's on offer, but I'm ok with it. However, I'm very interested to see how CA chooses to act going forward, both with potential changes to this DLC and DLC's down the line.
Being a WHFB bretonnia player, this total war series felt like a gift from god after the endtimes. It sad to see CA chase the alrighty pound just like gee dubs.
First DLC I'm going to pass on. Not much of this interests me, but I've purchased DLC I've felt similarly towards before just to support the game. This time its just too much for too little and I want them to show more appreciation for US first.
Kinda crazy and just goes to show how subjective things can be. I personally love the Changeling, being able to sow chaos while watching it all unfold from the shadows. Similar to Eshin. I loved just switching settlements from my enemies to my friends, being hidden all the time and surprising them with huge armies. I know you can do that stuff with regular tzeentch, but not being tied down to protecting settlements really lets you be free as the Changeling.
That's the thing about opinions, always subjective. Glad you're enjoying it though, never my intention to spoil peoples fun, just to give my honest opinion on the game before release.
I think people just look at the price and say "its too much" without considering the content. In this particular DLC's case, yes its over priced, because its just 3 more lords, 2 out of 3 of which I haven't even heard of and belong to "side" factions. However the Chaos Dwarf one, which is the same price, was far more worth. A whole new faction and one which was anticipated by many for a long time. Maybe not even a fair comparison. Perhaps a better comparison is the Warriors of Chaos DLC. Cheaper, 4 lords, and all of them are for one of the more mainstream factions. I guess my point is, is that they can potentially ask for more money for different DLCs, but it needs to be worth it and the factions it updates are important too. Put it like this, if they came out tomorrow with 2 DLCs, one which updated Dwarves and one which updated Wood Elves, I would sacrifice my firstborn for the short boys, but they would have to pay me to get me to play the tree huggers.
I got all DLC from wh1 and wh2 and wh3 (base game) But that's it, i won't spend a single coin on any DLC CA drops anymore, I'm cracking them, if CA is unashamed to bend us over the table, then so am I. As soon as they get their act together, I'll complete my collection. It ain't about the money at this point, it's the principle, WH is a cash cow for CA, so treat it with some respect. Shout out to the "Community Bug Fix Mod" for doing CA's job, the lads in charge of that mod are the real ones. They gonna have their hands full for the coming weeks. Buy them a coffee if you feel generous.
The take is definitely hot this time round. I thoroughly agree, and my wallet shall be remaining closed until sales roll around I don't think I've ever been so unexcited for a Total War DLC
That seems to be the feeling for most of the creator sphere. I tell ya what, the most damning thing I saw is Indypride (milkandcookiestotalwar) was playing space marine 2 today on launch day.
@BlakesTakes420 have you given any thought to setting up a community discord server? You've got a nice lil community coming together here and it'd be cool to bring it together
@@simonbas6 Indeed I have sir, Currently life's a bit hectic (moving house and planning wedding) but once things are a bit more settled I'm hoping to ramp things up. Love your input as always sir.
Hopefully they keep beating the content into shape so that it works and help people enjoy content they already paid for, but I've said since that CA statement that they themselves broadcast their content is markedly less than the Chaos Dwarf DLC. Well, it's up to them to sell it, not me.
@@BlakesTakes420Yes we will, and I can hope for the best while not being shocked if they join the pile of companies wrecking a brand of late. I try to take a road that doesn't shy from the dissatisfaction but isn't well, 24/7 doom. It's their game and their responsibility to sell it to the public, and the public needs more convincing. Take care!
I think the reason this dlc is so expensive and rushed is because of the failure of hyenae CA needed *something* to come out and bring in the revenue missed by hyenas so they rushed a barebones dlc out and priced it higher for the same reason I don't think this is the new norm or anything and that future dlcs would have more content for a smaller price
As always I never pay CA full price for their games. Not since after the Rome 2 debacle have I done so. When this goes on sale by a significant margin will not I go anywhere near this DLC. In fact, I do this with all of their games and DLC's.
What pisses me off is that they still make more money from sales if base price is up Unless more people wait for bigger sales OR more people skip the game OR they lose new players their strategy still works It's really sketchy
@@BlakesTakes420 Aye. The badly coded, unstable, graphically horrible , silly designed, (capture flags in the middle of nowhere) mess of a game. Plus the 'pre-order' Greek DLC which was already in the game which they charged people for. The unfinished and lazily implemented 'Ceasar in Gaul' "expansion". As well as the bullshit CA came out with pre and post release. It was then I vowed to never give CA full price for a game again. ;-)
I did impulsively buy the dlc from a key store rather than steam, meaning I can't refund it, but even then, I would never condone 25 dollars for it much less the 20 I got it at. However, I dont foresee them putting it on a decent sale for the next year or several months, so I chose to get it now. Especially since I have thus far enjoyed the changling... however, he feels more like a character to play as for multiplayer with friends on campaign than someone to really play by yourself. The AI is so easily tricked and abused by how he plays, especially when he can get stalk AND vanguard deployment. Ontop of what you said before in that the AI almost will never know where you are... is shows in their actions as well on the campaign map, as well as their player bias however when you play as him. Reason being is that when you play as the changling, often times the AI will play extremely defensively and will often sit in their settlements, where normal games involve them all moving around rapidly and aggressively. With the changling, it seems like the AI for the campaign map just simply dont understand what to do or what's going on. I've never once seen someone like Gelt just sit in, say, Brass keep for well over 20 turns just doing nothing at all. Its odd and jarring to see the AI's behavior when they dont have or know the player or can predict them to target them. It is very bizarre but also just goes to show how cracked and bound the AI's aggression and functions are to the players' existence on the map. Take your existence away on the map, and they dont seem to want to do anything.
I'm a fan of Tzeentch and Cathay and from what I've seen there juuuuust enough there to get me to buy but I realize that not many people would be willing to pay for that, or even could pay for it in this day and age. It would be a halfway decent DLC if it wasn't for the price. Hopefully CA has a change of heart for thrones of decay, but I doubt it.
That CA has an up in cost is according to saga just not true not to mention that they have over 800 employees and got government funding as a small start up company and according to steam they are up 20% profit over last year.
Steam won't account for overheads though. Sales may have increased, but cost of sales has increased too. Operating profit for CA in 2022 was £6million reported in March 2023, down from £9 million in 2021.
I have been supporting this game and bought all their dlc, this round of dlc really make me think CA should do better and release purchasable content that reflected the pricing instead of releasing this buggy mess.
I agree with everything you said except that bit about the bugs in the game being outside of ca's control which is obviously not true. they make their games, they should fix their games. we should not have to use mods like Community Bug Fix Batch 3.
@@BlakesTakes420highly recommend it. Fixes so many problems. I enjoy vanilla game myself but I always have the bug fix mod active. Sorts many problems this game has
I feel like an absolute mug for buying into this franchise, it's just greed. The company's trying to expand so they need money and where best to milk that than the Warhammer games. People who play Warhammer, this is still 'cheap' for them, compared on what you can sink into the main hobby. It was the appeal of the Warhammer games, that it was more affordable, but this is getting ridiculous. No one should buy this, we shouldn't get use to this.
Purely economical. They know that in Asian countries there is no way that people will buy at that price. As its a digital product they'd rather make some money than no money.
In my personal opinion, yes this dlc was so agitating i have just gone back to playing warhammer 2. Warhammer 3 isnt even installed on my computer anymore. The game is greedy beyond belief. And the sad thing is, is it was so obvious this was gonna happen when the game was released. I saw the deamon lord factions and how utterly bland each of those factions was i knew all of their units that makes their faction unique would be slowly drip fed through dlc
The only thing I hate about this dlc is how all the CCs say "its overpriced", "it doesn't deliver", "Its bad" yet, they buy it, keep it and promote it. I wonder if something would change if the CCs would actually say: no, we will not promote this.
Pretty much everyone who covers the game is getting it for free as part of the affiliate program, and figuring if they do some consumer advocacy that they won't damage either their credibility or their future relationship with CA.

I’m a DINK with time and disposable income, a long term warhammer nerd and a love for CA since total war : shogun. Big no to this dlc from me. None of the Lords look vaguely compelling, there’s a mountain of bugs that need fixing and outright gaps in this dlc. I’m going to continue my second playthrough of BG3 and will start my third with my other half on PS5 over the weekend, instead of even thinking about this game. Sad, really, because I think it has so much potential, endless playability and the best content creators (your fine self, LOFTW, Damnders, GBOG, Okoii… and more!) … CA are the ones letting the side down right now
It's a very sad state of affairs, and one that could be corrected very easily by dropping the price to something reasonable. (I also bought Baldurs Gate 3 this weekend 😈)
I like the units and concepts on offer but I cannot in good faith or conscience buy a DLC so egregiously priced. It is worth $10-12 at most. If CA was on a warpath with WH3 and responded to criticism, bugs, and balance issues rapidly then I would consider $25 (and would be much happier with the state of the game). As is? It's absurd to demand this much for so little especially when it will introduce simple bugs that may take 6 or more months to fix...
I’ve bought it because money is no issue. What I don’t understand is why they can’t fix the game!!! There are long lasting bugs that still remain in the game… after months. I am happy to pay for new content, but I would really like to see the game running correctly.
Circling back to the changeling, in order to spice up the campaign a bit, they should allow the cult to be destroyed when a settlement is razed or conquered: something like 50% chance when raised, 10% when conquered.
Great review, CA had been reducing reinvestment in TW for ages, but I must admit that I am surprised seeing how dedicated CA is to squeezing every penny for the least effort possible :) Lets hope the fans have backbone, they didn't had so far, lets hope its a start of change even if its to late for WH.
@@BlakesTakes420 by glory days you mean the days that I still had hope CA will improve the core aspects of the game like Autoresolve, Recuritment & supply systems, and obviously Sieges (removing ass ladders, making equipment useful, giving new ways of attacking and defending with unit diversity) ? Cause I doubt this is possible to come back, I don't see any more siege improvments on the roadmap - and even what was written there was under delievered "Race Updates" :)
All I know is that I hate these updates because it breaks all the mods and previous campaigns. It's overpriced as usual so I'm not going to buy it anytime soon, it's just a hindrance to me
Hmmm, I had fun. But I love total war, so it's very easy for me to have fun. Objectively, the game is still in a desperate state of disrepair, bugs need fixing, the patch cycle is too infrequent, and poor game design choices are what cause such a sour taste in peoples mouths when asked to spend such a large amount of money on more content, that is also broken. Hope that gives you some insight into my thoughts on it.
I bought the Warden and the paunch for 10$. Since I only had Total War 3 I also got Wurzag and Imrik. 4 lords and 2 totally new factions for 10$. Shadows of change is not worth it.
Normally I'm a huge fan of your work. Even with a massive play time in this game, I hear/learn new things. However, honestly this is probably the sloppiest video I've seen you put out. It wasn't even an overview. The Changling came down to pretty much not your cup of tea. Okay? Can we have a bit more to see if we might like it though. So much of this just seemed the most cursory overview that really didn't get into the new factions/mechanics. Not a word about how the Changling's scheme system works for instance. I'm not sure if you just wanted to rush this out to post on the release date, but this is the first time I've felt a video you put out was just a waste of time to watch. How this ended in particular made it seem to just be a continuous of what you referenced earlier, the Reddit type frustration over the price, not really a review.
Appreciate your feedback, yeah I wanted to give everyone my thoughts before the game went live. Unfortunately due to time commitments I haven't been able to go into as much depth as I'd have liked to. I'll be going into more depth on the factions in the futute. Thanks for your comment.
@@BlakesTakes420 I look forward to seeing the more thorough version, and I do appreciate you responding to this comment even though it’s negative. It’s been frustrating trying to see details on the actual content when there has been so much focus on the price jump.
@@BlakesTakes420 mostly the changeling he seem to be the most chaotic and fun sneaky around spreading lots of corruption really fits his character making factions fight each other too I love it although I didn’t like the price it wasn’t going to stop me from buying it the amount of new stuff compared to the amount of things you can do with it makes it more enjoyable when you imagine yourself in the warhammer instead of looking at stats and what’s in front of you on paper
Heard most of that take on LegendofTotalWar before, but yeah, I agree with you. Oh you're quoting him. XD Yeah good take Blake. (Not saying you stole anything, just that you have similar opinions).
I really struggle to understand the price complaints when you cannot go see a movie for $25… I haven’t given CA my money since the Norsca debacle but it’s not a commentary on pricing but on their culpability to their player base…
Because people don't like paying more for more higher quality content. They want everything free. CA should just bow down to them and give everyone all games for free!
"You have two options: high price with few sales or medium price with many sales" CA execs: "Did you say high price? Yeah that one" "But no one will buy it" CA execs: "Moneeeeyyyyyyy :)"
Bare minimum? Where can I buy whatever it is you are smoking? 3 unique legendary lords with their own special mechanics and campaings is not bare minimum. That's a fuck ton of content.
I personally bought the dlc just for the Changeling because he will be chill and whacky brainless fun and I love Tzeentch. From what I have seen he has got most of the love in terms of mechanics and animation work in the dlc. I do think he of all three comes down to personal preference.
As a lover of Tzeentch, I thought I'd really enjoy his campaign. I mean, I don't hate his campaign. But I wasn't having much fun either. Subjective though, lots of people have really enjoyed him. Is he worth $25 though?
Absolutely not and this is one of the only dlcs I bought full price. Just that in warhammer forces of Tzeentch are my favorite faction and I am likely to buy the dlc of that faction regardless and I could currently afford to do so. It does feel a bit silly that I now need to buy two extra lords with whom I am unlikely to play with just to play the one I want. Not to mention the content doesn't fit the price even if you wanted all three. I would suggest that anyone else instead waits for a price drop or buys a key. In the future I will probably wait a good while myself as for example while I find the chaos dwafs interesting I am yet to buy them and currently still have no plans to despite offering more content. Either way the price just sucks. @@BlakesTakes420
