Just as a question on the recap (maybe you’ll see it.) Wolf Hound and Chris left the BSAA due to the cover up? I thought that Chris was a part of Blue Umbrella, I don’t remember the BSAA being mentioned at all until the scene with them being at the village. Of course, I could be wrong. Is BSAA the same as Blue Umbrella?
@@DisDatK9 Chris was working with the BSAA at the end of RE7. The BSAA teamed up with Blue Umbrella, but Chris was suspicious due to Umbrella's history. He questioned why the BSAA would want to work with an organisation like them even if they'd claimed to have changed. Then after the BSAA cover up of the Dulvey Incident, that was the last straw for Chris and the BSAA had lost his trust, hence his squad going rogue.
I love how they covered Ethan Face, like jesus christ they used every joke in the book to cover his face I'm surprised they didn't add a giant blur to it when his arm moved too far from it.
It was hard for me not to cry during some parts of the DLC when I was streaming it lol. I lost my dad when I was 11 and I would kill for a chance to be with my dad again like that.
That Mia Doll that goes after you as you look away from it was the second creepiest thing inside House Beneviento. Movement and sound was a chefs kiss and i frikin shat myself👀
I wonder what kind of school that was where her powers were just known about by all the students and they bullied her for it. Also I have to say, the amount of effort they went to to hide Ethan's face in this dlc is so ridiculous, it's almost slapstick.
@@justincholos.balisang6884 maybe not the students but the school itself might have know she might be dangerous which is why chris would have to reassure them she was not.
@@MiKEY_TARANTiNO well if they knew, it's still kinda stupid to bully the girl that has literal superpowers and can finish their entire existence in one blink of an eye.
The worst part of the DLC is replaying the same old ending without any changes to reveal all anyone ever wanted to know. Who walked up to the car? And what happened? I mean, just fucking tell us. It offered no real new information. It's infuriating.
This is genuinely one of my favorite channels on RU-vid. You delve deep into the lore with such elegance, and your voice is so soothing!!!! Thank you for such amazing content!!!
I don't think Miranda is gone for good. She herself said about Ethan that "in this stratum even he can manifest", meaning that Miranda, Ethan, Eveline etc. were manifestations of their respective consciousness, "avatars", if you will. Miranda might reapear in the realm of Megamycete after her second defeat by the hand of Rose's (since only her "avatar" was defeated) infinitely, but without the crystal and with Rose "too powerful to subdue directly", her plans are doomed anyway.
Well - it's established the Realm of Consciousness if a product of the mod. So, it's logical to say that, nless the mold itself is destroyed entirely, it will remain. But - of course - we may see a weakened version of Miranda - or maybe her "recent" ones are destroyed to the point only the 1919 one remains. Now that I've written it - it could be a nice plot. Imagine you play a Resident Evil "vintage" being haunted until you realize you're the 1919 Miranda fighting her more recent selfs.
I'm half expecting Ethan to actually return in real life. Hell crazier shit has happened in RE. Also side note I cannot wait for Wesker and Ada in RE 4
at this point i kinda wanna see a game with the Re super powered kids because all of the legacy characters have some type of enhancements due to their parents sherry's injected her with the g virus ,weskers son has his dads abilities, and now mia
Something tells me that's next, It makes the most sense honestly, the only thing missing is the next "Big Bad" that they face for 10 games, 5 movies, 3 side stories ect, lol
who need power if you have leon, biten by a zombie shark, zombie alligator, plane crash, bus crash, fallen from an elevator, thrown out of rolling humvee, fall into a mine tunnel, punched by a tyrant that can lift a tank, sent to save a president daughter in hostile area with only 9mm. and no notable permanent injuries whatsoever
It's funny that I had a theory that the "glowing texts" was Ethan like a some sort of a ghost like Booker was in Burial at sea Episode 2 then Capcom first announced the rose DLC but after playing the DLC I might have found a major plothole: Rose used her powers to get into the realm of consciousness. If she did got rid of her powers, how would she get out of the realm? Would she just be kicked out of the realm and get to the real world? Could Miranda (and possible Eva) just get out?
Very late to this party, but man they should have shown Ethans face when he was talking to Rose while dying. That would have made everything SO much more impactful, and was the absolute perfect opportunity!
I don’t play games… literally cannot work my way around a stupid controller. But I love watching the gameplays and these explanation videos. What a story. 🥺
I'm gonna find it devilishly hilarious if they show that Rose now has the power to resurrect all the thousands of peoples consciousness trapped within the megamycete, like she did Ethan. But her and the corporations are like "Naaah I want to be normal" and she does nothing and the corporations just eliminate all the megamycete with the people in it. Like...I'm starting to wonder who are really the evil people here, holy shit... 🤔
There's quite interesting and "dark" theory about Eveline. In shorts, she was created using part of Mia's cells (ovarium) in some way. So when Eveline said that she "come first" or "it's all because of you" etc she's jealous in more deep manner. Also this gonna make sense why Eveline was so attached with Mia even rarely hurt her as she did to others.
I know people have problems with Ethan, but I personally love him as a character, the ending of village actually had emotional, and everything to do with him in the DLC just had me tearing up at points
Hey Harry I know youll probaby never see this but I recently finished a game called In Sound Mind, and I was wondering if you could do a explained video on it as it has a VERY interesting story that I could not seem to fully understand! Love your videos
Hated the DLC. Here's why: 1- Doesn't actually take place in the physical location of The Village. 2- Finding out how and why the *real* Duke turned evil, would have a great plot point. 3- So you have superpowers. That's great! Keep them. Might come in handy. 4- Nope! Screw Chris for not having told Ethan the truth.
Well it was said that Rose was taken away from Mia. Honestly I wouldn't trust her to tell her the truth ever. Though Rose deserved to know a long time ago.
Mia did help try to hide a bioweapon not sure you can live easy peasy after messing with people like that. For all we know she either went nuts from here husband death or maybe get locked up. It did alarm me that she said the only thing she knew about here dad was he saved her life as a baby...it was like was mia that bad as mom.
there was a part in the house beneviento where rose reads her journal from her childhood. the second page says that her mother taught her stuff before she went to school. so it's implied that she did grow up with mia, but recently haven't been seeing each other (no reason was stated, however).
I find it funny how both Ethan and James from Silent Hills 2, story starts with a missing wife. it's like a inside joke about missing wives, if she's contact you booked it 😆
I have a twisted suspicion based on the fact that the guard calls Rose "Eveline" at the end: I think Rose may have inadvertently brought Eveline's consciousness back with her and they're sharing a body, and/or that Eveline and Rose may actually be two alter-egos of the same "person." Since we know in RE-7 Ethan hadn't seen Mia in over a year when he went to rescue her, that by the end he was "dead" and kept alive by mold and technically Eveline, and that in some twisted way Eveline sees Ethan and Mia as her "parents" because Mia had been her "caretaker," I think Eveline may have had some part in Rose's conception and/or that some part of Eveline is imprinted in or makes up part of Rose and that Rose's bodily death and revival through the mold by Miranda at the end of RE-Village may have caused a split or "amnesia" with two different consciousnesses.
The dlc was okay imo. Just wished it connected/expanded the lore from the main game instead of introducing weird new unresolved plot elements. Like why was the Duke and evil sadist? I’ve heard that a separate team did this dlc which would make sense.
(I mean more than just a few notes at the end. Also Ethan and Rose’s interactions were..pretty corny like…they felt very melodramatic instead of heartfelt)
I don’t understand why they reused the ending of Village for the ending of the DLC .. like I get it yay she got to reunite with her dad for a bit, but I’d have liked to see her actually living that normal life.. which unless I’m tripping, story ended with her basically being under the government still
Okay. Bear with me, as I am a nerd. Sclerotia is actually the plural of sclerotium. Which are the the hard dark resting body of certain fungi, consisting of a mass of hyphal threads, capable of remaining dormant for long periods. Cool right? I also have multiple sclerosis, which is how I knew straight off how to pronounce the word. "Scler - o - sha". I am SO sorry for being yet another dork barking about pronunciation. Half because I'm annoying and half cuz you're amazing I joined your membership as a peace offering.
No explanation of Mia pissed me off when its the end of the Winters story and Mia was a Protagonist and antagonist in RE7. Rose saying "havent seen mom in ages" and not explaining why.
Mia was a deuteragonist in Biohazard. I would've liked to have seen more of her in both games, but these were from Ethan's perspective. But in this DLC, it was a wasted opportunity to not have Mia reunite with her daughter. A shame!
I wonder if she could have managed to materialize her father and take him into the real world while she was there. I mean it worked with the ring and she seems to have the power for it
This will be a thing in a future game or something. Ethan revealed as the main boss after defeating, like Jack in the RE7 dlc though not just like that. Or just used as an explanation as to how he returns or some such thing.
The writers and voice actor did great with his character. My eyes were watering during their conversation because everything he has ever done was for love. Love for his wife, his daughter, everything. Great character development and drive
To be honest, I mostly chalk that up to his character: Out of all the protagonists in the series, he's not born to be some action hero or ultra badass; He's just your average dude who doesn't realize he's in WAY over his head until it's arguably too late, which is very refreshing for such a cheesy franchise. It also helps that, unlike all of the other series protagonists, he doesn't really want to be involved in such dangerous situations: He just wants to be left alone with his family, but he's not afraid to get his hands dirty if the situation requires it. In such a crazy ass world as Resident Evil where monsters that pose a threat to human civilization are seemingly on the menu 24/7, Ethan is a very relatable and grounded protagonist, and you can definitely understand his mindset.
I mean, we know what he looks like but the funny thing is... He's become his own character and he has a lot of heart. His VA is so fantastic when the plot dictates it... It's shame there isn't an entire performance captured.
It's really kind of an experience following this family and their shenanigans, from the first one where half the players were like "please man is Mia worth all this? Just leave, there's other fish in the sea" to now seeing him reunite with his daughter even after death. Maybe it's the daddy issues in me but damn that letter hit hard
And some people who chose to used the serum on The Baker Daughter…. There’s won’t be REVillage and Shadow of Rose if that’s the case. Thank God the canon story is Ethan chosed Mia
@@dragonbornexpress5650 going by the fact that mia would be dead and thus rose would never be born, it can be assumed that the events of Village would never have taken place. Miranda would have never bothered doing what she did because there would be no reason to. she wanted rose because she is a perfect vessel to revive her daughter, she never cared about ethan or mia, so if rose doesn't exist, why the events of village take place?. if ethan had got with the bakers daughter and had a kid, maybe Village would happen all the same though. this is all just my assumption of course, there is no evidence since the game never even entertained the idea. though its also possible ethan would die anyway because of his mold situation so this is all just a what if.
Eveline is the only Resident Evil villain I’ve felt sorry for. She was just a kid that wanted a family and even ages into an old woman because of using her powers so much. They took her life away from her so part of me wished they would have given her consciousness a happy ending even if it would have been kind of cheesy. Eveline you can be Mirandas fake daughter, Miranda can be your fake mother, and you 2 can stop fucking with everyone elses lives.
Can you do a video about what happened to Rose’s mother (Mia),She has a line where she tell us that”I havent seen my mother for ages”.And we wonder what happened to Mia after Ethan’s death.
@@raindropsr9892 no, Mia died the same way Ethan crumble inside the helicopter during the rescue. She died because she touches Rose while her power weakens all kind of molds. Also do not forget that Mia is already dead from drowning during her last encounter with Eveline at the ship.
Rose has been raised under HQ for further examination and determined whatever she’s dangerous to a society or not. Chris didn’t tell Rose about her families cause of death
@@vegalucas7782 Rose literally says that it's been a while since she last saw her mother. She's still alive after the events of RE Village there's no doubt on that. And Ethan showed up at the graveyard at the very end of RE 8 so he might not be dead.
Resident evil village came out not long after my daughter’s first birthday. Portions of that game hit me harder as a first time dad. Playing this DLC both hit me harder and scarred me more than the base game (mannequins). RE isn’t usually known for the feels but the use of Rose as an awkward, bullied teenager trying to find her footing combined with Ethan’s fatherly dedication from beyond the grave really worked well IMO.
@@daquieshakeaundra2854 Think what you will. I didn't play RE Village when it came out. I haven't bought a game since RE 4 came out. I watched various RU-vidrs play through Village on my lunch breaks at work and after rocking my daughter to sleep if she woke up late at night. Similar to how my wife would listen to podcasts after doing the same thing. Got a chance to play the DLC though and it really reminded me of the RE: 4 days.
hey bro, as a fellow newly made father as well, I’m here to tell you don’t listen to mthafkas, you can take care of your kids and game as well 👍 but I feel you tho, I could t help but relate to my baby girls as well ✌️ good luck being a dad bro, it’s awesome when they get a lil older and start calling you daddy 😆
House Beneviento managed to be the scariest part of the game again with the the DLC as it was in the main game. All without weapons or items. Well done!
I hated it. I still can’t get past the giant doll part. I hate that it doesn’t even allow you to run away most times as whenever I try to run off I immediately get caught when my backs to the enemy even when they’re too far. Do you have any suggestions for me to get past that area?
This DLC was incredibly touching. Though Ethan's story was done, this wrapped a nice little bow around it. Beautiful closure for a character that brought the franchise back from the dead, and now we're left with Rose who herself proved to be a fantastic character.
The man did went through hell and back for both Mia and Rose, he died but he is stubborn to kill and wasn't gonna give up till both Mia and Rose were safe.
Miranda confuses and irritates me: Yes, she's technically "dead" in the "real world" and exists within the megamycete but so does Eva. If she's so in control and can create people and things, why not just piece together Eva's memories, give her form and live out her time with her child? I bet she could even allow her to grow up, or remain a child if that's her thing, and build them some "happy ever after" existence. If her daughter found herself and memories in an unrecognizable body (shell) she'd probably lose her everloving mind. Miranda is too greedy: she wants her daughter, the megamycete powers, and complete control over everyone; she's going to constantly shoot herself in the foot with her schemes.
Let’s be real. it was known instantly that it’s Ethan, but still, having Ethan’s love push him to create a body to save his girl Edit: also Ethan’s letter makes me scream in tears everytime 😭 Edit 2: the goodbye with Ethan breaks me too, just a whole DLC of crying
Yes, it was quite a 180 from Rose talking about how she knew nothing about her father to how she acted at the end, but that face to face seemed to clear a lot of things up for her. I lost a parent pretty early on, but I can't imagine what not knowing them at all must feel like. I guess that single genuine connection where she realized he had still been protecting her in his own way was enough for her to move on. Trauma is a strange thing. On a separate note, Rose looks so much like my 16 year old girlfriend it's uncanny. Big fucking ears and all. 😂
I couldn't imagine how my kids would deal if something happened to me. Hell even my oldest daughters who are going to be teenagers soon, like to act lke they are grown but still sometimes just want dad to hug them.
I wasn't a fan of Ethan, but after this I really like him so much now. Also: can I just say right now that this DLC has some serious Evil Within vibes? 💜
@@grimlord3181 Yeah I feel like the only one who is just glad that the Winters storyline is over because I really wanna see what the fuck is going on with the BSAA and what Chris' squad is up to. That's more interesting to me because it's going to be huge.
There’s something I don’t quite get. If the “Miranda” from VILLAGE is dead and this “Miranda” is from the records of the Megamycete, then how did “R. Miranda” (Record Miranda) create a illusion of K to speak to Rose outside of the records?
@@william3791 to add on, re7 had files stating that mold infection causes hallucinations, at the end of the dlc when it was revealed I wasn’t real and was just Miranda that’s why rose was just staring at air. The very first line she heard as one of the kids voices from her past when she enters the mutamycete and was diving into it for the first time was “rose is crazy, it’s like she see’s things that aren’t even there”
The mutamycete is like a psychic connection. Miranda was recorded in the megamycete, as well as everyone else who contacted it. Those with high enough attunement retained their memories and faculties inside the megamycete records. Because of Rose's attunement, this basically meant that a sufficiently powerful entity inside the megamycete (like Miranda or Evelyn) could communicate with Rose.
I wonder if the Masked Duke is closer to what he could have been if he was an antagonist/a Lord in the main game. In keeping with classic movie references with the other Lords, the Masked Duke could be associated with The Blob (if one is going for the movie reference and weird biological goop) or an ogre, considering the mention of a consuming hunger in his note.
Everyone else? None of the main cast in RE have an ending currently and are still being put through the ringer. Chris doesn't get a happy ending considering he's still cleaning up messes.
I have never played the RE games since I an not a fan on horror, but always loved to see what the story holds. This channel is amazing for that. Thanks so much!
Honestly village isn’t scary at all, 7 might be a bit harder for you if you aren’t a fan of horror. If you get the chance I reccomend giving it a shot!
I never nderstand this story trope in which the characters go "I hate these powers and they're a curse" even though it make sense them more powerful and with no real bad side effect.
Well Rose had physical issues with the white fluid she secreted as well as the fungal veins that go throughout her body, so it wasn't as simple as "I am a perfectly normal person, except I have secret powers".
There are always side effects and considering Rose's age what she feels is very realistic. I myself have what is called high pain tolerance and due to my ability to shrug off diseases and illnesses that would normally debilitate others, I've been called insensitive and ignorant because I'd not react emotionally enough at others' pain knowing that this is something they will 100% recover from. Over the years I've grown aware and sensitive of these things but if I was 16/17 I'd have very much felt the pressure of being different much like Rose does.
@@grimlord3181 It's not normal? They make it pretty clear other kids quickly picked up on the fact she secretes a gross white goop instead of sweat and started torturing her over it Most kids just want to fit in and be liked, and most aren't going to enjoy something that makes them standout and be outcasted, like secreting white goop and having disgusting bulged veins all over your body This conversation doesn't even matter anyway, the end of the DLC(and end of the main game) is her starting to accept what she is and not view it as a curse anymore
i knew Michael was Ethan and damn that weepy father daughter moment had me bawling so much .. i’m glad at least Rose able to meet with her father even for short while .. 😭😭
Man I almost don't care about the whole RE bioweapon business and other villain's plot now, I just want to see a happy ending for Ethan's family I swear. I can't keep crying for this man, dawg, it's been 5 years.
So to the best of my knowledge shadow of Roses is the last planed sight of Rose aka no more games, which is a massive shame as I quite like her and there is quite a lot of room for her story to grow along with her powers, it would probably have to be a side game or a spin off as her level of power would be like letting us play as Wesker aka all the lesser BOWs lose their bite as in they can’t bite you heck they can’t even touch you, you would need to populate the whole game with mr X or Nemesis just to give the player a bit of a workout. Maybe they could have a game where it’s not survival horror (unless you happen to work at the place we’re been sent to to clear out) but it’s Rose been sent in to a BOW lab to clear out the place before Chris and his team come in to mop up, I mean that’s kinda how Devil May cry started out only only this time it would be kept in the setting.
To be honest, that does make a bit of sense; I could see Rose being used akin to special forces or shock troopers: Someone that can deal a massive amount of damage to the enemy so as to make them more vulnerable to attacks by infantry, or someone who gets assigned to jobs that are far more complex and small scale than your typical military maneuvers.
