Arguably one of the most terrifying and traumatic video game bosses from our childhood that we were all terrified of facing, meanwhile this guy is running laps around him while blasting him in the face like Doomguy with a super shotgun.

No doubt this was truly terrifying and I was scared shit-less when ever he would get to close because of the fucking pulse beam! it would literally diminish your health in seconds especially on the hardest difficulty

Man the amount of bullshit we put up with because it was all we had and the best there was at the time. Looking back now I can barely imagine how I can play this game with clunky tank controls and beat it

This boss fight always used to scare the shit out of me as a kid. Hearing IG88 clinking and clunking in the background - never knowing where he might be - until he creeps up on you. So I never used to run around. I'd sit in a corner and lay into him with pulse rounds (often getting wasted myself) but at least I'd see him coming 😂

2:26 the couple seconds of hearing ig88 move around and then silence terrified me as a kid. I would just be standing on my bed trembling as I held the n64 controller waiting to see him appear out of nowhere lol.

Wait makes it so scary is A) obviously just how weird and distinctive it is, but also B) that it’s volume never changes, so you aren’t able to gauge how far or close he is, adding to the tension. Future game designers take note

I love that the concept of this game was literally just, "uuuh what if Han Solo's acquaintance fought some of Boba Fett's ... contemporaries?" And it's still one of the best Star Wars games of all time. The only reason I even thought about it was that I got hit in the chest with a steel rod today and said, "uUUuh!" like when you take fall damage in this game lol.

There is a way to glitch under the map where you can still shoot IG-88 and he won’t be able to shoot you. I literally found it by accident lol.

All these years of playing this game on N64 I had no idea you could just circle-strafe around him and exploit his AI like that. This boss used to scare the absolute crap out of me with the weird sounds he'd make, and the arena was like he stalked you in it. He would jump and seemingly disappear and sneak up on you. I would run into that open door way, get down to the corner and just spam him with the seeker missiles.

@@MaheshWalatara ROTJ is crap, have you ever watched it without the Rose Colored glasses? It's an AWFUL movie. I rewatched it as an adult...and outside of a few thematic moments...it's awful. A truly dreadful movie. Phantom Menace is great. So is Revenge of the Sith. ROTS is lightyears ahead of ROTJ.

@@thesciguy4823 I'm guessing you're roughly 20 years old, considering you're hating on the original trilogy and praising the prequels. First of all, the original trilogy was a massive achievement back in the 80s, and the prequels honestly don't deserve the hate they get. All 6 of those movies have their good and bad moments, but every one of them is great in their own way. Any true Star Wars fan would agree with that statement. I do believe however, that they would also agree that the Disney sequels are a hot mess, no matter how you look at it.

@@Volzarok You _must_ be a fan of Star Wars to _hate_ what has been done to it. The *Expanded Universe* is pre-Disney and beloved among fans, the Prequel Trilogy could be and has been improved with editing, but the issues with the Sequel Trilogy run too deep to fix with cuts and dubs

This was where this game ended for me as a kid. I could never get passed this. I think I eventually cheated and shot nukes at the thing, but it was a bitter victory and I never finished the game.

Lets go back to 2005-7 before i got an xbox with halo ce, i got absolutely thrashed by every boss in this game, could never beat donkey kong 64, was a black belt at mario kart, star wars pod racing, 007 golden eye at somewhere after 5 years old before i got the first xbox and sucked at banjo tooie and kazooie, life was good, now im flipping because cyberpunk 2077 dumped my primary sniper that my one true love Panam gave me because i took the pistol off my ripperdocs table at the near end of the game

@@MaheshWalatara one of the 88 (4 in total) got uploaded into the second Death Star lol the lore is it was about to send out a droid revolution signal before the Death Star was destroyed over Endor. That’s why it was firing faster and way more accurately that the operators of the laser thought.

I just beat him last night after three tries. Came down to the wire, too. I unloaded every seeker I could at the end while he pulsed me up close - he had me at less than 10% health when I got him - very lucky
