One of my favorite dragons in dnd is shadow or umbral depending on if it's dnd or Pathfinder partly cause I find it amusing they consider even relatively powerful undead like shadows as snacks and they can create them with their breath weapons Also a few classes have interesting mechanics involving shadows even if their not necromancers just use shadow magic
I particularly appreciate that ancient umbral dragons in 2e inherently know how to perform the create undead (shadows) ritual, presumably so that they can never go hungry. Snacks for days!
