For those who don't know : They are singing about a very famous 12th-13th century Sufi Saint - _Lal Shahbaaz Qalandr_ who was born in Maiwand, Afghanistan, his family was originally from Baghdad, Iraq but he spent most of his life in Sevan, Sindh, medieval India. He travelled all across the North-Western front of Hindustan to spread Sufism. After his death the Indian Poet _Amir Khusrow_ from the courts of _Alauddin Khilji_ of Delhi Sultanate, wrote this piece of Poem (sung as a Qawwali) in his honour. However Khusrow passed away before completing the piece, thereafter the rest of the poem was completed by renowned Punjabi Poet _Bulleh Shah_ from the same era. To honour Lal Qalandr people across India and Pakistan sing this Qawwali. The signature lines of this Qawwali goes like this : _"O Laal meri pat rakhiyo bhalal Jhule Laalan" (x2)_ "O red robed Lord, may I always be protected" (x2) _"Sindhri da, Sevan da Sakhi Shahbaz Qalandr"_ "O Lord of Sindh and Sire of Sevan" _"Duma Dum mast Qalandr"_ "My breath is for the Jubilant Saint" _"Ali da pela nambar"_ "The Lord is above us all!" _"Ali Ali Dum Dum ke andar"_ "The Lord is inside us all!" _"Duma dum mast Qalandr"_ "My breath is for the Jubilant Saint" _"Sakhi Shahbaaz Qalandr"_ "O Noble Saint" *Fun Fact:* here in the poem, you can see Lal Qalandr being referred to someone called "Jhulelal" many times. This ref. is made to the God of Hindu Sindhis - "Jhulelal" (God of Indus River), many Muslim Sindhis believe that Lal Qalandr is none other than but the re-carnation of Jhulelal only.

I don't know I mean... every qawali moves form deep inside. I used to play tabla though not in quite practice for last couple of years... From my early child hood I had a passion for easter music... And for some reason I feel like if I could join these people right there. Dunno maybe at some point of time in future I will be with them.

Lal Shahbaz Qalandar is an overwhelmingly popular patron saint cherished and adored alike by Hindus and Muslims of Sind. He was a great missionary, mystic, scholar, philologist and poet. Several books in Persian and Arabic on philology and poetry are attributed to him. He was Lal (red) because of his red attire, Shahbaz due to his noble and divine spirit that soared like a falcon higher and higher in the boundless heavens and Qalandar since he belonged to Qalandria order of Sufism and was saintly, exalted and intoxicated with love for eternal being of God. The legend goes that the incumbent fakirs in Sewhan sent him a bowl of milk filled to the brim indicating that there was no room for anything more. But surprisingly, he returned the bowl with a beautiful flower floating on the top. This legend spread far and wide by the time of his death in 1274, after living a good span for 97 years.

I heard you load and clear chaaro charag jalene humesha,, pachwa main balne aye hain jhoole lal , so power moves me every time I hear, the singing Lal lal lal his so good dildar sahib .beta chota and bada , Fanna-fi -Allah aap Saab tho behaal hain, Aminah Chishti taal awaaz parbaat pe sunate hain kiya baat hain aap main, this song changed me I'm not the same, I respect all religion, one nation under one God, Sufi Qawwal the style is mind blowing, mere dil main Jo pyar hain, god ASA kare ke vo pyar aap Saab ke dil main bhar de,, Bismila pyar oor shanti karne wale;;;!:
