On the last page of the rulebook is a section titled "Theme". One of the points explains why they included female characters although it's historically not accurate.
Very solid game. I was impressed at the game play of this one from the first time I played it. Im surprised not more people are into it. The BGG rank is a lso quite low.
+Reynold Reubens (“rubbit trousers beat”) The rules come with an advice section, but you will find out how to play well with experience after repeated plays ;)
+Vincent van Beelen There ARE females in the game. But I believe the rules mention that while this is historically inaccurate they wanted to include women.
+Josh Wood yeah, the rules state the cards more represent the "character" than the actor who is playing it. So Juliette looks like a girl instead of looking like the teenage boy/young man who would have been playing her character.
