The body control it takes to maintain such a beautiful voice and guitar, but the absolute control of the kick-drum suitcase and tambourine… incredible. He’s a legend.

I don't usually like countryish stuff these days, but I really love Shakey Graves.

My wife had heard a Shakey Graves song from time to time, and then we went to see him at The Van Buren in Phoenix. It was a smaller, intimate venue and Shakey rocked that place to the core. One of her favorite songs, ever, is The Perfect Parts. I watched her become a fan in real time. I thinks she is almost as big a fan as I am! We cant wait for him to come back. We have to take our friends and make more Shakey Graves fans!

Am I the only one who has been completely heart broken about everything he releases after & The War Came album? Honestly I feel like even half the songs on that album weren’t in the vein of the funky unique sound I’ve grown to love from him. It was all those feature songs on that album that I don’t love. I have it on vinyl so I have to listen to all of them regardless. Literally can’t get into anything he released after that album though. Dual-Tone ruined our boy, and I hope it was atleast worth it financially. Probably not though, I’ve worked in the music industry on the marketing side for years and I’ve never seen a situation where a label doesn’t extract atleast 10 times the amount from you that they pay you for the contract. He is supposed to be having a 10 year anniversary album being worked on now and released. I hope it’s more inline what we’ve grown to expect from him, even if it sounds different than before I don’t even care about that. They just turned his productions into the same or lesser of the stuff I can hear around Nashville every weekday night. I don’t mean any negative energy toward the dude, I honestly hope he makes a comeback one day; because his music before that previously mentioned album will forever live in my heart alongside very few legends. Alejandro if you ever see this by some miraculous chance, bet on yourself when this contract is over. I have 10 years experience helping businesses succeed in the digital world, and I’ve worked with many entertainers to do the exact same thing without having to sign themselves away to a label. Just reach out somehow dude, I’d give you so much of my time to see your self produce. You’d make a hell of a lot more money this way, but more important your music would touch the hearts and minds of more people all over the world. I believe in you. You don’t have to produce what you did in the past, but you should never be bound by what a label says is marketable. They don’t know shit, that’s why so many labels have paid me great money to handle marketing, brand development, and profit increases for them. All they are is a group of guys and gals where one or two people have a good ear for talent, but a bigger drive for personal greed that stunts artists. I’ve ran the books for big labels, and on average for every $20k and artist makes, label executives eat $100k and shit out nothing but ignorance and spare change.
