people who enjoy soccer or come from countries where the game is prolific know all about piqué, yes, but sports news isn't something someone hears at random, not in the same way music is. especially someone as big as shakira. i live in canada, and everyone i know has heard of shakira or heard one of her songs. music is everywhere, which gives shakira a much bigger platform to reach people on. sports are more niche. you might hear about them on the news from time to time, but for the most part you don't hear much about them unless you're actively looking for it.
