Seriously, I miss the guardians so much. They were a lot less freaky and you could at least get away from them. My first meeting with Gloom Hands I had 3 fairies. 3 WHOLE FAIRIES! So I had to die and revive and die all over again. It was torture.
Twilight Princess: Link picks the dogs and cats up and cuddles them (✿◡‿◡) Tears of the Kingdom: *Link teabags the ground in a failed attempt to kiss the doggo* ( ఠ ͟ʖ ఠ)
If you consider the fact that Link started with Max Hearts/Stamina, but a basic level of inventory, you could say that the canon from BOTW is that Link never bothered to help Hetsu or find any Koroks.
I never saw Link inventory size at the beginning of this game. Is it really that small? I just assumed the Gloom reduced his inventory space, just like everything else.
@@silversmilegirl I don’t know. I played TotK without transferring my BotW file over (I only had my Master Mode file saved, with my Normal Mode file deleted for reruns), and there’s a part in the story which depicts a statue of Link working together with someone else, which I won’t say directly due to possible spoilers.

In botw, everyone was scared of guardians, but after encountering gloom hands, most people start to think, that guardians werent so bad after all. Makes me wonder, what we´ll encounter in botw3, prolly something that makes us remember gloom hands fondly.
As you noticed with Hetsu, the game is very weird about which characters remember you or not. Generally the rule seems to be if they are plot important they'll remember you, but any side characters apparently have the memory of a goldfish and forgot you exist.
24:10 You think Guardians are scary? Nah fam, you're bout to take these hands for the vibe check. Say hello to the thing that replaces Guardians and unlike Guardians where you can see them at a distance, these fuckers pop up from the ground where you least expect it. Don't even try to fight, just fuckin book it. It doesn't matter if you're faster, they'll ALWAYS match your speed. Also if you're feelin brave enough to fight them well....good luck! You're gonna need it.
Correction, don't try to fight until you get to higher ground that they can't scale. Either wait them out or snipe them from above. Not gonna say what happens, but it gets you some good shit.
@@LuciannaDeCelio Yea I'm aware on how to deal with them. I usually just obliterate them with bombs. They can also be dealt with by burning, freezing, shocking and blinding them. With something so scary that has a handful of effective ways on being deleted, it's surprising they're not just flat out immune to status effects unlike the "thing" that comes after.

The Ascend rune, which hasn't been used in even longer: "..."
No, you didn't screw up when first talking to Hestu. The devs decided you only get two upgrades at that first meeting. At least you figured out what he meant by heading east to "a lively place" immediately.
There is actually a good reason to kill the Darkness hand guys, they are unique and it is worth while to take them out if you can manage. (By any means necessary, u can cheese them if u like)
Ah, and here we have the replacements for Guardians this game: Gloom Spawn, also called Gloom Hands by fans. They are relentless fuckers. But, they have fairly good ways to dispatch them, like staying above on a cliff and shooting bomb arrows at the center of the mass. But you’ll definitely want to make some sundelion dishes and also, you need to start talking to the statue in Lookout Landing for some extra help
I just call them Floor Masters. I was always scared of the Floor Masters & Wall Masters growing up. These assholes were just more of the same yet also terrifying in their own unique way.
Since you finally encountered Gloom Hands, here's 3 important things to know when you find them: 1. If they spot you; get to higher ground immediately. Gloom hands can't climb, they only follow grounded paths to get to you. 2. You can defeat them, but they are all very strong and you don't have the needed damage or defense to take them on right now. So for now, just avoid them as best you can. 3. Gloom hands only spawn in very specific locations in the world; they don't show up at random. An easy tell if they will show up is if you come across a suspiciously open area with seemingly nothing in it. If you come across places like these, be cautious for when they show up. 4. If you can't run, hide, or climb to escape them; CRY LIKE A SCARED LITTLE BABY!!!
Remember, fellow picky penguins. The only reason we're getting an early video today is because Nico is on vacation. Normally, Nico is a supreme night owl. 😂
Now that we are here, I think I will talk about ANOTHER of my favorite VAs. Cristina Vee. She provides Hestu’s voice and does an amazing job. I actually didn’t even recognize her at first. Also, she voices a SECOND character in this game., who I will point out later. Much like Kate Higgins, she has an impressive line up of characters. Rei Hino/Sailor Mars from the Viz re-dub of Sailor Moon. But not only that but she voices both Shantae AND Risky Boots, from the Shantae series. She also voices Marinette/Ladybug in Miraculous, who might be my favorite character she has voiced (Mars is VERY close though), Ash’s Lucario, back when it was a Riolu, in the Pokemon anime. She is Homura in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, which while it is an anime I actually HEAVILY dislike, I will say her performance was amazing.
@@Nebularban I have seen conflicting reports, but more seem to say she is the voice of Hestu here. Based on the sound clips in this game and Breath of the Wild it is pretty identical to Hestu's voice in Age of Calamity, so I am more inclined to believe it is her. Even then very few if any characters have different VAs between the three games.
@@majoraplays6159 I remember a recent tweet from her, and she said "Voice of Hestu (AOC) here I see your sins against Koroks" And ToTK had been out for a while at that point, so she could have just said "voice of Hestu" but she specifically says "Age of Calamity"
@@Nebularban I think she might be referring to how Age of Calamity has MUCH more dialog from Hestu. In TOTK we only have very small voice clips. Just a few small phrases and sounds. It seems that most VAs don't seem to count things like that. Not sure if she is one who does or not though.
Character trivia :) Zumi, the worker at New Serenne Stable, used to be a worker at the Serenne Stable in BotW, and was one of the most flirtatious characters in that game. She believed that traveling adventurers came to the stable to pursue her, and stated that if Link also stayed at the stable with her, she would be really happy. As you probably can tell in her quest in Totk, she is really good at manipulating men to do things for her, but her gratitude for Link seems to be genuine too. I actually know a few fans that ship "Zunk" all the way. Yeah.
Pro Tip: Every root in the depths is in the exact same spot that a shrine exists in the overworld (Not counting sky) and vice versa so if you find a root in a spot where you haven't found a shrine yet it'd be a good idea to mark it on your map and vice versa for found shrines on inactive root spots.
Tbh taking monster's fingernails, teeth, guts, and other gross little goodies isn't much different to real life. Especially since there are all types of cultures who try not to waste any part of the animals they kill; both out of respect for taking the life of another, and being practical when it comes to providing sustenance for either themselves or for other people. Also have you considered using the Keese eyeballs every so often when using your bow and arrow? I'm pretty sure the description noted that you can use them as "homing devices" to ensure your arrows hit their mark; same can be said of the Construct Giants back in the Sky Lands.
I’d like to remind you that you don’t always have to attach items to arrows in order for them to activate or travel far. Throwing works too, such as the case with that hot air balloon when you could’ve thrown a fire fruit at it instead of using flint. Tho your way works too.
There I was, minding my own business and having a grand ol' time seeing what changed in this beautiful, dangerous landscape known as Hyrule... And then those scary gloom hands reminiscent of Floor Masters from The Wind Waker appear from nowhere, trying to grab me and steal my life away. After getting a mini heart attack running for my life, I suddenly miss the Guardians from the previous game. :'3
You notice correctly! The blupees do in fact run in the direction of caves now when startled. This is meant to lead you to bubbelfrogs to make it easier to collect their little thingamajigs they drop. There's a certain quest you'll need all of them for if you want to do it, apparently, so it's a useful function.
Those fairies are pretty much a must have in the depths, you never know what could get you from behind, those gloomy hands are more than likely show up at one point and make exploring in darkness a giant pain. Well, it's better than making them the same as the usual hands in dungeons that would just grab you and toss you out, specially if you've been wandering for a while without finding a glowing root.
I have never died or gotten grabbed by those hands even once, because my flight instincts kicked in immediately the first time I saw them and I booked it.
My first experience was when I was on horseback, so fleeing was extremely easy my first time around. Every time after that, I made sure I had a Lynel bow of some sort, if I didn’t have Bomb Flowers.
Didn't realize the Forgotten Temple showed me the proper order I was supposed to find the Dragon's Tears, so the Sword one ended up being the 4th Dragon Tear I found after the two west of it.
Ah. I see you reached one of the shrines that have shrine only items in it. Those candles as far as I’m aware of, only appear in those shrines that you could fuse things onto them like that. BUT, leave it to the community to find a way to get them out of those shrines to continue to make weird contraptions with them. I won’t say how, but later on you might find out later on.

I think Tears of the Kingdom is the worst and simultaneously the best game for Nico He sets himself a goal, gets distracted for 3 hours and does everything but the thing he sought out to do Seven Link is on the job baby!
Honestly i feel like all the crazy builds you can do in this game breaks the game's "balance" in half sometimes, it's fun tho. With that said the build i'm about to tell you about uses basic things you have already acquired, and i won't be spoiling much else. And the build itself is very simple. *Nico if you don't want any tips about building a useful thing that might be too OP stop here don't read further.* You can build a hover bike with 2 fans and a control stick, and with this you might never need too much stamina again! The build is simple too, with a fan in the front of the control stick and the other on the back angled slightly for forward momentum. Will never need horses either. Of course you'll still need batteries instead of stamina, but this means you can do both batteries and Max HP which is better than only Stamina and dying 1 shot to everything lol. Other than that have fun experimenting with builds, it's so much fun tbh.
I did not know Hetsu was going to be in the starting city....I totally expected him in the Korok forest or somewhere way east. I have been trying to find him throughout the whole.....I have already completed 2 regional phenomena and have my 3 circles of stamina.....ALL THAT EXTRA SPACE WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY NICE A BUNCH OF TIMES! And he was right there under my freaking nose!
Welcome to everyone's new nightmare nico: the gloom hand/hands, these freaky things are all over the place. I'm surprised you haven't seen them until now, I've seen other content creators on here I know of run into them once or twice. Fun fact for anyone else who hasn't seen them until now: when they spot you out in the wild, the sky will turn red like a blood moons happening/a blood moon will appear
Also in terms of how the Koroks/Hestu are "magically" able to expand your inventory like that through their magic, I have a theory that maybe it ties to the fact that Link is the "reincarnation/successor" of the past Heroes (especially on account of the fact one of them was raised among the Koroks when they were once human); which is also why you are one of the few who can see them. Even though this era's Link is a different one, I feel like it's sort of one of those timeless perks in the legend that will always benefit the Hero no matter what timeline they exist in.
Since Nico’s on Vacation and can’t see anyone’s comments I like to think the ones that try to give him advice are just yelling into the void like “Oh my god he has airpods on he can’t hear us”
I just realized... If seven link's fapping hand is the one with superpowers... Is the glue...? Nah... I gotta be crazy, right? Seven-Link: *smiles and says nothing* Right????
I was on the Great Plateau. Pulled out the pad, marked it with several skull stamps, and proceeded to find something else to distract me from the main- ooh, what's that over there?
What I want to know is, why is a Frox a Frox? It's literally just a Dodongo. They decided to bring all these classic enemies back the way they did with Lynels... Gleeoks as overworld bosses, a bunch of different Like Likes... so why did they make what is essentially the King Dodongo boss fight from Ocarina of Time, but call it a Frox?
TOTK, able to fuse and create incredible machine with just your hand: "Cool mechanic!! My rating on this game is--" Realized you can't pet the dog: "FCKN 1/10!! WHAT THE HELL, THIS GAME SUCK!!!"
Some useful thing you should know that the game doesn't really tell you is that the capacity of your energy cells is proportional to your energy regeneration rate when not in use. So basically by almost doubling the amount of batteries you have, your battery gets recharged almost twice as fast. Those two extra cells you obtained really does make a difference.
I swear I think everyone who encounters the gloom, or the gloom hands have all said “wtf”. 😂 it’s funny, because I did and said the same thing when I first encounter the gloom myself too.
The uh, Hands hide in Gloom puddles. Think of them like...Guardians. Unless you're a God, you should NOT be fighting them with four hearts and No Plan. Just wait, in ten episodes you'll have *six* hearts and three full stamina wheels, and then you'll show those hands how fast you can run while screaming
So I learned something really cool today. Other than the many Enemies, Poes, Chests and Zonai Devices available in the Depths. I discovered that not only are the light roots positioned exactly underneath the Shrines. But they’re actually the names of the shrines backwards. The Depths add a new layer of incredibly cool and pants crapping terrifying all at the same time
Technically, you can pet the dogs. All you need to do is build a hand out of building materials and then use ultrahand to move that giant hand to pet the dog with. Ultrahand solves everything!
Link: I'm gonna fight you blood moon! *A Massive Owl Appears* Rauru: Time for a tutorial on how to fight the moon Link! Link: On second thought skydiving! *Jumps off the platform he's on* Rauru: Wait...if I can become an Owl...why the hell do I need to be in Link's head?!
Lol, you got jumped by the gloomhands in the exact same cave I did and died like I did too. Those things are a pain. I've powered up quite a bit and I've even got the master sword back and I still am not sure to do deal with em. That aside, love the new Hetsu dace. HEY! Cha-cha-cha-cha-CHA!
Yeah, I first came across them in that cave too! It was absolutely terrifying. 😂 At this point, it’s not so much the gloom hands that worry me, as you just need to get somewhere high up to avoid them, and occasionally they’ll just whither up and die if they can’t get to you for long enough. (Although they are still freaky as hell, don’t get me wrong) What worries me is the ones where bombing and defeating the hands is only the beginning of the fight. I’ve yet to beat phase two. 😰
@@Speeddemon105 I won’t go into details, to avoid spoilers, but yes. Occasionally, if you fight and defeat the hands, there’s a harder fight afterwards, so just be prepared. 😅 (I say occasionally, because I’m not 100% sure if it triggers every time you fight and defeat them, or if it’s just in certain areas)
Oh, that's interesting, I swear I didn't get that sidequest with Hestu. I must have gone a different direction and I think he automatically went to Lookout Landing instead.
I am so happy Nico finally remembered his rewind ability exists. And yes Nico, the range on it is really good, even if say you were on a sky island and something you didn't want to fall fell, as long as you can see it, even if its just a few pixels at that point, you can rewind it. And yes, that includes Koroks. Have fun.
Me the first time I saw the Gloom Hands- '"WTF ARE THOSE THINGS?! OH GOD THEIR CHASING ME! GET AWAY FROM ME!" (Shoots bomb arrow at them) "Why do the bombs do nothing?!"

Quick note: this is my first ever attempt to do a funny comment to attempt to get comment of the day eventually when Nico reads all the ones from the prerecorded videos
