In this video, Adam goes over the keys to shallowing the club properly. Many instructors teach manipulated drills that are band aids for an improper swing. The shallow should take place during the backswing, which allow the club to shallow naturally in transition.

Trail elbow tucked in at address is my #1 swing thought with all clubs. Great video.

Once you get the right elbow where Adam says, its instant game changer. Its hard to do, but man, when you get it, its like you're a whole new golfer. He's helped me tremendously.

Coach Porzak, Thanks for being so dedicated to the sport. Hopefully you’ll see this and maybe help. I seem to be planting my lead toes into the ground stopping rotation at contact. It’s like hitting a wall and I pull it over and over now. Thanks in advance

This is right on queue for me… EXACTLY what my golf coach has me working on; shallowing the plane with the alignment rod at an angle behind me and bowing the left wrist. If you’re on a driving range with mats instead of grass, turn the ball bucket upside down and use the slots in the side to hold the alignment rod. At 9:09 to bow my wrist, I think of a reverse motorcycle throttle on my left hand; instead of pulling down to increase speed, turn the wrist the opposite direction to get that “watch pointed to the sky”.

Great video. Nice explanation. Would be the same feeling with the driver?

Thank you so much for these informative videos. My game is improving because of this content. Is there a video that shows proper checkpoints in a backswing rehearsal that would give someone(me) the confidence to just let the swing go, and not worry about squaring up the club face? I somehow go from what seems like a good grip at setup to a closed club face at impact during the swing. I have seen your videos before that touched on the checkpoint of the grip on the takeaway, but I just can’t seem to get this concept ingrained. Is there a video that explains this concept in detail? Once again Thank you so much for your RU-vid content.

I'm so pleased to hear you "condemn" the practice of dropping arms/elbows/club people do in an attempt to get the club in the correct position prior to contact. Manipulation is the proper description of this move and isn't part of a "golf swing".

Great video and it’s exactly what I’ve been working on for months - just one question - the lead elbow position is it neutral or pushing towards the trail elbow at set up? Thanks 🙏🏻🏌️⛳️👍

Do you have any tips for people dealing with golfer/tennis elbow? Swing faults that may or may not cause this?

Adam, when I work on this more then a few shanks happen. Any common reasons/fixes for this problem?? Thank!

I find this tough in that my right elbow and shoulder (probably more shoulder) resist the turn, so the right arm bend never feels near 90 degrees at the top. And then to start down, there is no more "give" for the elbow to go first into the side. So my backswing would look more like a Nick Price or Jack Nicklaus (just without their skill level). With Nick Price there is a noticeable and deliberate shallow move at the top.

Cowen also says the right hip must go up and back, porzak says the right hip going up higher than the left hip would lead to reverse pivot? 🤔

I need to get into a proper deep crouch to both get into a strong balanced position and to create a proper back swing that isn’t too steep. Similar to Tony Finau. I believe there may be differences between golfers of different stature and body make up etc. Thanks

Hi I have question, would using a "Winter Mitten Clips Elastic Stainless Steel Gloves Clips" also work to keep that elbow tucked in? I am thinking of trying that next time and see if it work!
@khabibxtyson719
@khabibxtyson719 11 месяцев назад
Does the elbow get separated during backswing because there isn't enough shoulder rotation (too much arms) to that point?

I've found I need to make sure I concentrate on the direction the club head is moving in the downswing, otherwise I really struggle to stop my hands and/or shoulder throwing it over the top. Not much an issue with the short clubs, but driver is a problem 😂 As a result I try to feel like there's a wall behind me and the club is travelling down it when I begin the backswing. Are there any potential issues with this? Cheers for the videos, I've spent way too many hours working on my takeaway and backswing ❤

What if i do the opposite i am too shallow my attack angle is like -6 or -8 ? what do i do :(
@PorzakGolf
@PorzakGolf 11 месяцев назад
take the alignment rod that’s positioned close to a 45 degree angle and position it on the opposite side of the ball from where you see in the video. The alignment rod would be positioned in between your feet and the club head forcing you to swing on top of the rod in the downswing. The backswing cues would stay the same!
