I remember watching this movie. Very underrated movie and it does have a meaningful message in terms of romance. Very good romantic comedy movie. Gwyneth Paltrow and Jack Black’s performances were great.

I think it's because Hal is already a good guy and liked Walt for who he was. The only people who's appearance change was people he didn't know because he based his judgement on looks only at first.
