After being abused for the first 14 years of my life I left my child hood home and ran the streets hooked on any drug to kill the pain until I was 20 and knocked a girl up. That kid saved my life I got clean and for the next 18 years I took care of him and his mother. Unfortunately his mother was very abusive to both of us. Well I was conditioned to handle it I already had thick skin from my childhood and it was normal to me.well my son was about 9 years old and he started asking me questions on why his mother treated him the way she did. Now I knew she treated us both poorly but she wasn't at the level of what I was used to growing up in a very abusive home. At that point I realized that he was feeling the same way I felt growing up. So I spent the next 18 years of my life doing the best I could to protect him from his own mother. I wasn't going to leave him alone and I knew the courts in ohio wouldn't let me take him from her so I stayed with her to take care of him.fast forward to this year he turned 18 and I filed for divorce. Unfortunately the damage to my son is still unfixable at least for me and after the many years of my life being abused im a mess mentally myself. This song speaks to the way im feeling right now because I'm torn between suicide and fighting to fix my head.
