@@emmavrijburg6676 not to get all “as an empath body language expert psych major” but i honestly feel like if it were JUST his persona people wouldn’t be getting eerie feelings the way they all are..like there are other successful youtubers whose online personas have largely stayed the same by design, yet we can all still tell that they have grown and matured as people somehow and we just don’t feel that way with shane. definitely suggests to me that it’s not just his online persona that’s remained stagnant but his person as a whole. but i’ll acknowledge that this sounds very parasocial armchair psychologist of me and i could be wrong-just find it very hard to disregard the fact that EVERYONE feels like something is off with how little he’s changed

I said this on another video about it but this whole situation is like when you have that friend in a toxic relationship that will never work and deep down that friend knows it but instead of admitting it and leaving they dig themselves deeper and deeper into the relationship because they are too embarrassed to admit that it shouldn't have gone this far and are scared of all the time they've "wasted". I think what I hate most about the video is the donuts, it's such a strange level of disrespect. Shane destroyed them, WITHOUT telling Ryland and I'm assuming he's upset because why wouldn't it be and Shame definitely played it off as a silly little haha joke. no this literally has sent me over the edge before. i can't for the life of me understand why someone could finish a bunch of food in one sitting/day and not leave a single thing for others. besides it being unhealthy, its just so selfish and inconsiderate. especially when you don't care about sharing and they just take advantage of that. i lived with roommates and went off once after dealing with it for so long. trust that it never happened again.

It almost makes it worse that he didn't actually eat most of them? Like it would be bad enough if he ate all the donuts- it would be rude and inconsiderate. But he *wasted* most of the actual donut and then didn't even bother tossing it- he just left the scraps there, getting stale, for Ryland to find and take care of. That feels so much ruder to me.

Not to psychoanalyze (i am about to psychoanalyze) but that exact energy is due in part to how Shane seems to view Ryland, misgendering him to liken him to a woman (which is apparently a bad thing to be), mocking him, flirting with others in front of him but losing his mind over the idea that Ryland had past relationships, invading his privacy, bullying him, etc. Shane is vocal about his insecurities, I imagine he's putting Ryland down because it either lowers Ryland's self esteem and standards, or because he's projecting his insecurities onto Ryland and is lashing out at him because of it. Likely both.

Shane seems weirdly homophobic and sexist at the same time, and I think his view/treatment of Ryland largely stems from his horrific self-consciousness. He also tries to make up for his insecurity by acting all quirky and dressing so shabby, although people with real confidence would look after themselves and not seek attention so blatantly. As funny and unnecessary as their video was, I actually kind of thought Ryland's letter at the end was sweet...and sad. In a world that's basically been designed to make people feel depressed, alone, and worthless it feels nice when you find someone who you can share it with, be it a best friend, partner, or family both blood and found. However, I just feel bad that throughout every video where we see Ryland with "the love of his life" he's constantly belittled, poked at, and made the butt of the joke. Regardless if he doesn't really take it serious or whatever, it's still really rude and ignorant that Shane continues to do that to him. If Shane didn't have his money, he'd literally just be a huge burden because not only is he the type of person to never really try to improve himself but he brings other people down and does it publicly in subtle ways. Ryland might not be the best person in the world, but I do feel bad that he's now tied to someone who's essentially a man baby with money.

@@babyvia6712 I sometimes think about what *would* happen had he broken up with Shane (That's if he truly is unhappy and feels trapped). With Shane's jokes it seems that he handles a lot of the financial aspects of things, so could Ryland even be able to live on his own at this point? Not to mention his own family seems to completely adore Shane. It doesn't seem like an easy choice to make when you'd be giving up your "boujee" lifestyle, have to deal with the the awkwardness with your family, and that's not even mentioning the internet would have a field day and all shane stans would instantly turn on him. For what it's worth, I hope they're both happy and everything is okay.

I think if Shane didn't become rich while being so young, he might have been a better person. Money tends to change people or just stunt their growth because when you are protected by wealth, you never have to face the harsh realities of life, and be forced to confront them and grow from it. Shane also kind of suffers from gluttony and hyperconsumerism and when you do it surpasses your desires to learn new things, improve yourself and generally evolve. The only answer to any question becomes money and how to spend it.

As much as I want to be mad at Ryland for being with him, I've definitely been in a situation where I know someone's bad but they manipulate me into staying. So I get why he's with him, and I do actually worry about him :/

Having worked at a county clerk and recorder’s office in Colorado where we issued marriage licenses to people, I can tell you the reason they are getting married in Colorado is because of how stupid easy it is. There’s no waiting period, you don’t need witnesses or even an officiant. You need an ID and that’s pretty much it. They ask you if you’re divorced, but even if you are they don’t need to see the documentation. It’s literally harder to get a library card than it is to get married.

It just feels weird that Julien talked about marrying Jenna and shared a few pictures of their small wedding and talked about how it happened months ago but because of Peach's health issues they didn't put it online. And Michelle Khare is doing wedding content. She did a planning a wedding in a week episode in December and the wedding dress this month. It's also a small wedding situation. And then Shane decides to have a small wedding in the spur of the moment and talk about it weeks later. Just feels weird.

People always think weddings are suppose to be these big elegant things where you put yourself in debt for 100k when really if you just want to be with the person who cares how you do it. Ryland literally brought up how he wanted to be married already every video so I’m sure they talked about it and decided to just take the next step of their relationship. I had a last minute wedding too. Every girl dreams of having a magical wedding but the moment I met my husband I knew he was the one and I didn’t care when we got married. One thing led to another and we decided to just get married. No expensive wedding with hundreds of guest. But all the magic was still there. And you know where we went after? Taco Bell and then the hotel. I’m still happily married after almost 4 years and if we want to have a remake that’s always an option if we want to renew our vows. If you wanna shame someone do it based on their actions, not your expectations.

What gets me is how so against Shane was to getting married. His excuse for years has been that it would be too stressful and too much attention. Ryland would come down to his level though, and agree to do a courthouse wedding but Shane would STILL refuse claiming that he knew Ryland wanted a big wedding. And once again Ryland would say we could do a courthouse wedding and then a party later and Shane still wouldn’t do it. From there a lot of people started speculating that Shane cared way more for Chris than Ryland. I've never seen people get engaged and stay engaged for 3yrs only to do a quick thing in a court room. They talked about doing a ceremony thing with friends and family before. Not huge but something..and then just didn't do anything at all. It just doesn't seem authentic. They both have money, so it's not like they had to wait for financial reasons or anything. There's quite a few people from my high school class that are married and I graduated in 2015. Many got engaged a few years after highschool and were married by the next year. Some within 6 months of the engagement. I've never seen people stay engaged this long unless time and money was a factor holding them back from doing so. These 2 don't have either of those issues. This feels all like a spectacle. I've read many stories of people who were engaged for longer than 2 years and it always involved wanting their partner to finish schooling or for themselves to finish.... or money related issues because they had to save up. These 2 don't have any of those problems. This happened out of nowhere because Shane spent 3yrs debating on how he wanted to do it. All that waiting to just hurry up and get some papers signed that could've been done at any point in time previously.

I was just thinking this. There are only two Voodoo Doughnut shops here, and this has exponentially raised my fears of bumping into them. Well, not counting the one at DIA, but they were clearly Downtown. Ugh.

I personally think they chickened out of getting the finger tattoos. My husband and I have them and yes his did lighten up a little bit but mine didn't. They lighten up or fade bad, when you work outside and you work with your hands those two do neither of those things. We've had ours for about ten years now. And like I said mine is fine and his got a little bit lighterr because he works with his hands doing construction. Shane is afraid of everything. I think he got there and chickened out

@@h.b.theminimalist489 That what I'm saying. There's no way the tattoo artist said that. When we went to get ours done, the artist asked what we did for work. When we told him, he said that mine would be fine, but since my husband does construction his may fade. 10 years later, mine DID fade a tiny bit, it's barely noticeable, and my husband's did fade. Not to the point where you can't see it, it's still there lol its just a little lighter than mine. In the beginning of the video when Shane said they were getting them, I actually said out loud, "There's no way Shane's getting a tattoo". When he said they tried but failed miserably, I wondered what the story was gonna be. How does the tattoo guy telling them no equate to failing miserably? That doesn't even make sense. Them chickening out certainly equates to failing miserably 😂😂

Since everybody knows how dumb and ugly finger tattoos are, and since the tattoo artist had tact, he told them they “fade” so as to save them from a dumb and ugly decision, mostly so he didn’t have to do two dumb ugly tattoos. 👁️👄👁️

I don't even like Ryland, but i feel so bad for him. Shane is always flirting with other people in front of Ryland, calls him names and disrespects him, uses his vulnerable notes from 10 years ago to make jokes about him, doesn't want to get married, doesn't even bother showering, completely destroys their wedding cupcakes and doesnt leave a single one for Ryland to eat, and then uses a song about being at rock bottom to illustrate their relationship........ In terms of marrying in Colorado- it can be pretty easy. In some ways, it’s probably the closest to a modern common law marriage- you can get a marriage certificate from the court, go anywhere, and get married. My parents got married in a courthouse, and went and got lunch to celebrate. But yeah- live in Colorado. Like some things, don’t like other things… them living out here and the thought of running into these two is one of the things I don’t like.
