He was right. His only problem was he was too much. His attitude and method of approaching things was off. And he was very clearly not quite right in the head. But he was definitely more right more often then anyone in the group.

No, he went too far. Rick knew when to be a diplomat and when to be a monster. Shane only knew the latter. Sure he did it to protect his family, but he never saw anyone else as his family, he only ever used people to get what he wanted instead of trying to help them as they help him.

After loris and Shane’s relationship, I don’t think thing could’ve ended any different. Shane was determined to protect Lori and carl and he knew the best way to do that was to force Rick to step up or step down. In the show tho it was supposed to have Shane amp Rick up to kill him by insulting him and threatening his life despite nvr having a bullet in the chamber. The show writers ended up with him taking a depiction more accurate to the comic. It’s undeniable tho that season five Rick is quite literally Shane, Rick wouldn’t have been the man he is without Shane.

@Massive Stew ong he woulda pulled a rosita. I saw some video that was basically like if Shane was alive he might’ve joined the saviors since negan like carol and judeith. But I think negan woulda died under that tree. It still baffles me that negan is still alive it literally contradicts ricks character. He believes in justice especially at that part of the show he just doesn’t believe in mercy. The saviors being spared was accurate but negan should’ve been hung and killed like Rick promised him.

Absolutely not. Rick cared about everyone, Rick tried to protect everyone, and Rick knew how to balance distrust and trust. Shane only cared about his "real" family. The rest were just tools to him, and he had no care nor understanding of the people who helped him. He would've stolen the farm on day one if Rick hadn't stopped him, and In turn gotten them all killed.

@Reaper Productions that's exactly what I was saying when I recently saw that arc. "If Rick and Carl were around, the whisperers would be a two episode side mission." Savior slayer Carl and Rick would've been side by side mowing hordes down and rigging IED's + razor wire on vehicles, and when alpha showed up at first she would've gotten the classic Colt Python to the face immediately. Rick dealt with Negan already as the leader, Carl was NEVER afraid to let an automatic rifle sing at saviors with actual guns, the whisperers would've been laughable to them.

@Reaper Productions also, Carl and Henry would've been best buddies, Carl would've taught him to let a rifle sing.

I dont think it would come to this situation if he was alive. Many things would go differently since he is not someone you can ignore. Yes, he is quite aggressive, but he is also right most of the time.

I think about this a lot, like ofc from our perspective it makes sense that Rick would be in charge since we followed him from the start but in reality everyone looked to Shane for months until Rick showed up and then he was just casually shunted aside. And it's not like Rick was even Shane's boss back in the real world. They were partners. So Rick walking in and everyone suddenly turning to him like Shane was a placeholder was just another way for him to feel worthless.
