I had to listen to that stream in parts but that was BEAUTIFUL. I was able to resist pure anger because I could laugh all this garbage off but ever since eric started dogpiling his customers who were effed with nonstop assgrape shipping costs, shane is my spirit animal. Eric does not possess the neural pathways to hear Shane's criticisim, he will only perceive it as an attack and react aggressively up to and including becoming physical if possible (if you're in arms reach) 😅 MANY such cases, a large portion of the population.

What I want to know is what he's determining as Western comics "thriving". Did we ever have them thrive? Is it just to beat manga sales? Do we need more growth than we already have? Or is he saying indie is holding western sales down? His argument would have a chance to make sense if he set up the parameters, quantified what he's talking about, and then played the solution in an objective way through examples.

What made the splash page of an empty entrance way especially funny to me was that I've seen enough wrestling to know what they were going for, but they completely whiffed it. If you can, please indulge me for a moment: When a main event level wrestling star like the Rock or Stone Cold (or like ol Scary Larry here) is about to make their entrance, there's that moment of anticipation between the audio/visual cue that heralds their arrival (i.e. Stone Cold's glass breaking, Kane's pyro, the lights dimming, etc) and the wrestler actually appearing from behind the curtain to walk down to the ring. Usually the crowd pops when they're alerted to whose coming and cheers/boos even louder when the wrestler actually shows their face. I think that moment of anticipation is what Eric was trying to capture with that splash page, but what he should have done was built up to it with smaller panels. Something like this, I would imagine: - The commentators jibbering like they were when this scene was introduced but they're suddenly cut-off by the opening cue of Shungite's entrance theme. Since comics are a visual medium, show the lights going off and Larry's anvil graphic or w/e on the screen being the arena's only light. Followed by... - Next panel. The announcers are in their booth, shrouded in darkness and staring up at the screen. "Hold the phone! You know what THIS means!" "Business is about to pick up!" - Then maybe that crowd shot of fans holding up their Larry Shungite signs and whatnot, perhaps people rising from their seats with the announcers continuing to build up his arrival in off-panel dialogue captions: "I didn't think we'd see him so soon after last night's war for the title!" "You can't keep a good man down, Other Announcer Guy!" - THEN maybe do a splash page showing Larry Shungite for the first time, only he's actually come THROUGH the door and he's posing like a badass in the entrance way with huge pyro explosions going off behind him and fans on either side of the aisleway completely losing their shit. *TLDR; it's almost like comic book storytelling is sequential or something. Whodathunk it?*

I'm glad he mentioned the art, as I've mentioned it on another channel, and respone I got was he's not really worried about the art more so the editing (which he's not wrong):but to other artist and some writers, the soulless art sticks out. No way are Marvel and DC doing 3D models and drawing over it.. Also, I think this video is damage control. Eric won't mention his other competitors, with both Tyler Martin 'The Antagonist' and Anthony Piper 'Trillleague' having a successful Kickstarter campaign with books being shipped out this or next month. Even his art director, Caanan White, has done interiors for Niobe comicbook, which also had a successful Kickstarter and books being shipped out in a month or two. So some of the attention will be be taken away from him. Don't think I'm hating on Eric. I want him to do well. For the Rippaverse to reach the highs again, Eric needs to get an editor. Have Check Dixon be the main guy for the world building on Isom, Alphacore, and Yaira. Plus, Eric is sitting on a goldmine with Caanan White. I don't know why Eric only has White doing the art for the covers only. White has his fans, and I'm sure many want to see him do the INTERIORS. Trust me, the books will triple in sales. Sebastian has White do interiors for his comicbook. Why doesn't Eric do the same?

Eric îs such a coward in that he slanders Ethan and Shane without having the courage to say their names. Eric’s clueless about markets. A market (pie) can grow, shrink, or stay the same. It can shrink if a lot of people put out crappy comics because that turns people off to backing and reading comics.

I feel like all these indie guys coulda done so much better by working together to overcome their flaws instead of competing
