RVD never sold out. Wrestling is a business. RVD did very well for himself in ECW, WWE, and TNA. A great talent who became champion in several promotions.
If you are offered a top card position at wwe for 150 000 grand in comparison to an exclusivity contract from aew where you wrestle once a year for 250000 how many people would accept aew offer?
@@Micfri300 one would have to weigh his options. Either accept more money now to work less at AEW, but also take indy bookings on the side while having more time for personal life and family or go go WWE in a top spot, get paid less, but likely receive higher royalties from merch, but also on the road longer and more often.................it varies person to person.
Yea he did sell out, He sold out Madison square garden! Lol a line from Foley. No RVD wasn't a sell out he stayed with ECW virtually to the very end. Heyman owed him something like 250k. In the late 90s RVD was ECW
When you watched ECW back in the day, all their guys usually looked a little bit defective. Taz was very short. Sabu was small and covered in scars. The Dudleys looked like oddities, Sandman looked like your dad etc. Not only did Rob stand out a mile on screen because he genuinely looked like a mainstream main eventer but he was also the most over and was having the best matches. So it's obvious why the other brands wanted him. Frankly it's a miracle he stayed there as long as he did and wasn't swept up by one of the big two within a few months.
I was watching an ECW match after Douglas returned from the WWF and Sign Guy (not Dudley, the actual original Sign Guy) had a sign that said "(either Shane or Franchise), loyalty is spelled T-O-M-M-Y'. ECW fans were weird. They would pop huge when Bobby Eaton or Sid Vicious showed up, but then be merciless when they found out one of "their" guys were leaving.
It’s silly to cultivate a “we are different, we are special” almost cult-like mentality among your fanbase and then act surprised when they respond accordingly. You benefit from whipping them up into this devoted frenzy but it’s a double edged sword. Douglas’ perspective feels spot on.
Sooo wait. If Shane was cutting promos on the fans for being at Raw, doesn't that mean he was watching Raw to see them? I mean, I guess not, no. We all know which guys he speaks of. Straw hat guy, Jim Martin from Faith No More looking guy and so on.
@@brettrossi034 ECW's last show took place about 2.5 months before WM 17. It was still operating, but promoting any events. HHG Corporation filed for bankruptcy around the same time of WM 17
The difference between what happened in ECW and AWA was. ECW wasn't paying an oz of quarter compared to AWA. With AWA, yeah sure the wrestlers left for higher pay but at the same time, they wanted more exposure. ECW had more exposure but wasn't paying the performers their fair share.
ECW was the best wrestling organization from 1996 through all of 1998. Wrestlers were smart though to leave and make more money. Just like everyone in the working class of America is smart to leave there jobs and work somewhere else to make more money. Even the lower card matches on ECW were very good. They always brought in great talent.
You can't blame him he has a window for so many years of his best years , when his body & health is still at its best so he needs to make his money and get paid because the owner promotor getting theirs and when he starts to slip the new star will get his money , so good he made sure he got paid for his worker players in sports do it all the time so why not him
RVD made money and got over.... Shane never did. Can't sell out when you go somewhere els and earn a ton of money while being the coolest guy on the show.
He didn’t even call anyone a sell out and he got paid $$$ from both Wwe and wcw. He literally said he did the same thing and the fans call everyone a sell out??? What are you talking about?
I don’t know who you’re talking about, what you’re crying about nor what you’re even trying to imply. Other than that, thanks for contributing, I suppose.
