Aspie, here. Diagnosed twelve years ago, at age 58. Life's better since I quit trying to be normal.

Found out I had a touch of the tism' about two years ago. The sheer number of content creators I watch that eventually reveal they're also autistic is way past the point of coincidence.

I'm definitely autistic and I had a cousin with Downs. We absolutely loved each other like cats and dogs like each other. He taught me to be more social. I was an egotistical shit and after a summer hanging with him I realized it was really fun to enjoy other people. He was happy with anything and everything. And it was actually fun.

MrLboyd is one of the most intelligent people on RU-vid people. Love this dude.

Another with Aspergers and ADHD here, but if they offered me medication that 'cured' it I wouldn't take it, I'm 55, it's part of my character, and there are areas where it has its advantages

The girl dying on the van trip is Gabby Petito, and yes, her bf killed himself in another forest he went to hide out in. This set was when he had disappeared from his house, before they found her body. Everyone suspected he killed her, but she hadn’t been found, so he hadn’t been arrested yet. They were watching his house, but his family snuck him out. He was suspected to be hiding somewhere in a forest preserve…but Shayne was spot on that he went in there to kill himself.

He’s like the opposite of Mark Normand. Instead of just quit witted punchlines if he can’t think of anything he just is funny because he stumbles through it as himself lol.

I'm also high functioning. Also have ADHD. How many of you out there can also look at someone and tell they are on the spectrum within seconds?

I Have 3 second cousins with down syndrome and we used to spend weeks with each other in the desert, dirt bike riding. They were the happiest dudes, especially when we were camping together and having fun on our dirt bikes, which they all knew how to do, especially on the alkaline flats. My oldest son (7) has mild/moderate autism and is extremely intelligent, but more introverted, as expected. Good comedians can make any topic funny 😂

I identify with your studio quiet rant. I'm not autistic but have severe social anxiety and severe adhd. I'll yap away plenty to my self in my office but the second anyone, including my wife, invades my space it's instant quiet. My dad likes to say that I was probably a cat in my past life due to my ADHD being of both the attention and Impulsivity variant I often ignore people and just walk away or get hyper obsessed and take the into what my wife calls "the labyrinth" where in four hours you won't know how we got to this point of the conversation, move around randomly sometimes speeding up sometimes stopping completely, and just all in all do whatever little thing pops into my head if I'm not consciously trying not to.

We have multiple examples of autism and Asperger's in our family (myself included), and he might have hit on something here. Half are such outgoing, happy people pleasers, while the other half need you to knock and gain permission to enter our space before even coming into it without getting a minimum attitude. LOL

I've sometimes wondered if I may be autistic. I come around with the strangest thoughts and topics. One time my coworkers were talking about rent/work/etc and I joined in like "Did any of you guys know that bananas are concidered berries?" 🤔 Then proceed to go home later that day and shower in the dark.

He is insanely correct with a autistic (kids he said, but people in general). If they are non-verbal, it is legitimately hard to tell if they like you or not. I've got some in the family and it is true to the outside observer. They won't make eye contact and may tolerate their existance. "Sorry about that. I tried to play but I'm pretty sure I did it wrong." "What do you mean? He always asks for you!" "Oh. Well that's good". I always thought I just had a slight case of OCD but apparently I have like 27/29 of the "symptoms of aspergers", so perhaps it is just that so I can empathize with that. I feel like I'm just as normal as everybody else though (except I don't shut up and I prefer to be alone), except that I've noticed most of the general public seem to act first, then think after. I don't get that.. I can't help but overanalyze every step of the process for any way to streamline the process so that next time it doesn't take so long. (even though I might just be taking out the garbage lol)

I have autism and worked with down syndrome people huge diffenence between the 2 one is Neuro spice the other has a chromosome issue, i couldn't imagine haveing both

Yea, Gillis is kinda right. I have aspergers and my nephew has down syndrom....so its really like cats and dogs sometimes. We love each other, but the miscommunication is always funny.

I work at a group home that has clients that are severely autsitic and some have Downs syndrome. The cats and dogs comparison is so unbelievably accurate.

4:48 I feel you. My only exception is work. I will talk your ear off even if I've never seen you before.. because it's my job and I've done it a thousand times before and I'm just making small-talk. Although, it wasn't until I worked in customer service for 10 years before I got comfortable speaking with people lol. If I see people out in a social setting or random family members come over? Uhh... I dunno. No idea what to say. I ain't saying shit. I don't know these people. Somehow it's different when it's at work and I've got a set of about 1000 different things I say to people, or just say any random (possibly funny) thing that comes to mind. I don't always know my audience though. With old ladies it's 50/50. They come in to get advil and point and say "gimmie a pack of those" and since they are next to the comdoms, I say "Did you want the regular or the ribbed purple ones?" and point to the condoms next to them. Half the time they get offended, half the time they laugh. I can't resist either way. If I say something that gets like 5 negative reactions in a row, okay I'll lay off that joke and circle back to it later. I guess at this point I feel like I'm paid to make random dad-jokes and shoot-the-shit all day with random people. I guess it's cuz I'm in Canada. If they aren't friendly, THEY are the weirdos, not me.

I don't know what my uncle had but he was hit on the head as a child by something that made him brain damaged and while he couldn't take care of himself he cut grass and toured the neighborhood and knew everyone his entire life. People with down syndrome seem to be about the same level and they're usually very valid as plausable work force and independent people. Severe autism can be much worse. Wish our society was set up for both more tho.
