Andrew Schulz and the Flagrant podcast crew talk to Shane Gillis about who the best actor. AMAZON US amzn.to/3jyJARA AMAZON UK amzn.to/3jKO1sA #andrewschulz #shanegillis #comedy #podcast
When is this Shane guy gonna do or say something funny? The only funny thing i’ve ever heard him say was that “Catholics created civilization”, but he was actually serious.
@@FizzleWick1 by what? He doesn’t even make jokes. But i get it now, he’s from a celebrity dynasty. You’re invested in selling a corporate brand. Another failson for the kkkult to worship.
Damn Shane is too fucking real for these guys it’s awesome. Straight up just cutting through the bullshit and saying you guys are triggered because Denzel isn’t number one on my list.
Hot take: John C. Reilly is a top 5 actor in the world. He can do anything all of the other serious actors can do (Boogie Nights, Chicago, Gangs of New York etc.) But none of those guys could do what he did in Step Brothers, Talladega Nights or his other comedy hits. He may not be a leading man but for talent as an actor no one can fuck with him.
My favorite movies with John C. Reilly are The Aviator and Cedar Rapids. It seems comedic actors are often the better in serious roles than vice versa: I think Adam Sandler and Robin Williams are two of the best examples. I think a good example of the opposite, a more serious actor killing it in comedic roles is John Turturro.
@@TwoToneTonyLee his ego has gone through the roof. Schulz is a very talented comic, but he’s so lost in the moment he can’t picture a comic on the same level as him or better who is also pretty down to earth. Everytime they have Shane on their podcast, it’s almost as if they’re trying desperately to have him stoop down to their level arrogance
Schultzie needs to quit the nose snow before Podcasting😅 Shane handles it perfectly, calling him out for getting triggered over Denzel and losing the plot entirely 😭
@@Galero15 That’s because Actresses and Actors get different awards. And Meryl Streep is MILES above most other female actresses in terms of talent which is why she has so many Oscars. The competition is less for her compared to male actors.
@@christianolson8543 Jack Nicholson, Daniel Day Lewis, De Niro (could pass on him as top 3 but def one of the goats), Pesci (personally one of my favorites but probably not enough variation to be considered top 3 by most people), Waltz is great, Samuel L Jackson I think is a bit underrated when it comes to goat discussion, Denzel, Pacino. I definitely understand if someone puts Leo in their top 3. Personally there's just something about a lot of his performances that take me out of his movies. I can't quite put my finger on it. He's an incredible actor for sure I just can't put him in my top 3 (probably not even my personal top 10) If I had to pick a top 3 off the top of my head I'd go this in order 1. Nicholson 2. Pacino 3. Pesci
Al being blown away by Shane saying “I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is better than John Q.” is insane. A literal masterpiece vs. a good Denzel performance in an otherwise forgettable film. 🤦🏽♂️
John Q was by FAR more important, more impactful, more relevant, powerful and emotional than whatever tf that other movie was about. FUUUUUCK hollywood, why would I watch a movie about that? I haven't seen John Q since the early 2000's or some shit and it's STILL impactful and emotional to this day.
This is why Gillis left New York. I guess it is a podcast but it's hard to believe anybody believes anything but has to act like they believe everything.
Keep spacey, the fuck ? Lol there are dozens of way better actors than that creep. I've called him a creep for 20 years lol way before his whole gay rapist thing became public
Watched it a couple of weeks ago, i got just as hooked on that movie as There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York. Amazing movie. Plus my brother has extreme aspergers which made the movie even better to relate to.
Being in the biggest blockbusters and being the best actor aren’t the same thing. It’s like having the most hot 100 songs and being the best rapper For my money, Brando not being mentioned is criminal. DDL, De Niro, agree on Denzel, Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, Jack Nicholson.
Funny to watch this because Leo and Denzel are both my favorite actors. I was upset they didn’t mention Denzel in remember the titans or Leo in inception, especially the scene where he’s trying to talk his wife off of the ledge and he watches her kill herself. That scene was one of the most powerful acting moments I’ve ever seen.
Gary Oldman is the goat. He disappears into the character I don’t even recognize him initially in films because he plays wildly different roles and kills it every time
Did we forget about Bobby Lee in the short film 'Out of Love'? lol And Gary Oldman is on par with Daniel Day Lewis and Christoph are on my list as far as range. Just true actors. Enjoyable movies and on my list of favorite movies - Tom Cruise, Mel Gibson, Leonardo and Denzel are interchangeable. Imo
Imo it’s Leonardo. Dude has killed every roll he’s ever been in and has never had to resort to superhero movies or whatever the big thing is in Hollywood to maintain status. Plus it doesn’t hurt Wolf of Wall Street and the Departed are both in my top 3 all time.
The problem with Tom cruise is Tom Cruise...he has a few solid ones for sure...but he can only be Tom Cruise. Hanks, Day-lewis, DiCaprio, are actually transformative in their roles.
@@willtrill5263 tropic thunder is a top tier movie. Though I feel like it's still underappreciated. Lex Grossman: "take a step back, and literally, fuck your own face!"
I’d say he could easily be top ten. Just also due to sheer dedication but he also manages s lot of intensity, can run and speak Chinese at the same time, and is pretty solid otherwise.
Tom Cruise is undeniably one of if not the biggest star in Hollywood today, but the question is, who is the BEST? Tom Cruise plays the the same character in every movie, the guy has 0 range. All of Shane's suggestions are better actors than Mr. Scientology.
@monkeybob13 Was it? The gun slinging action character... He was just playing a bad guy instead of good. The last movie Tom did where he wasn't an action star was 2012's Rock of Ages over a decade ago. And it was a giant flop.
I was born in 1980 so I lack perspective on 1950-70s but the best actors in the sense ''I believe I'm watching a Real person and et it's a written character'' have to be Pacino, De Niro, Pitt, Di Caprio, Day Lewis and Washington.
Daniel Day Lewis is by far the best actor of this generation. But these guys arguing between Leo and Denzel show they have absolutely no clue what they are talking about. I love Denzel and dont miss his movies. But Leo is next level. He plays hero, anti-hero, and villain so well. His range is spectacular despite always being leonardo dicaprio. To me he is the only one that can be mentioned in the same sentence as Lewis. Maybe Sean Penn can.
Philip Seymour Hoffman. John Cazale. Henry Fonda. Like there are objectively better actors than Cruise, Denzel, etc. This conversation should be titled "Best Movie Star"
I got Bale as my personal favorite, Leo as my number 2, The Departed is my favorite movie of all time so far...Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is another great for Leo, I love them both though 😏😎🤠
5) christoph waltz 4) Sam Jackson 3) DDL 2) Kevin spacey(I know) 1) Brad Pitt I don’t think brad is the most skilled or particular better than anyone. But for me he has made some really great choices in most of the parts he plays, and gives his characters incredible performances in MOST of his films. Just my opinion.
DDL is a phenomenal actor, but his catalogue is not as strong as Cruise. He also takes like 5+ years in between roles to fully immerse himself in roles.
It's not about who had the most blockbusters. It's about who is the better actor. To me, being the best actor means the ones that become their character the best and portrays the emotions, intentions, and ambitions of that character ae well as being the best a consistently staying in character and staying true to who that character is. Also, having a big range and being able to do many different types of characters. It's not about who has the most big movies. Also, speaking of great movies. Robert de Niro has been quite a few. Raging Bull , Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas', Taxi Driver, a Bronx Tale, Ronin,Casino, the Godfather, part II, Heat, the Untouchables the Deer Hunter. Those are all better movies than anything Tom Cruise has done. Cruise Just has more blockbusters. That'd all. If that's the standard, then Samuel L. Jackson should be in the conversation because he has been in as many blockbusters and iconic movies as anyone, but that's not what the conversation should be about.
Great Gatsby, Inception, the Revenant, the Departed, ...I'm not even saying they are all better movies but they are without a doubt better performances than John Q and Man on Fire. And not to take away from Denzel bc he's one of my favorites ...but Add Tarantino's movies to the list...and Leo comes out the clearly better performer.
Name one movie by Leo in which he genuinely looked like someone who you would be terrified of if you met in the streets....you know, like Training Day Denzel. ONE , go
