A collection of VX footage of Lewis and Shane ! Filmed by Chris Middlebrook Geoff Campbell Britten Andrews Leigh Bolton Dario Rezk James James Josh Roberts Chris Yow Rest in peace Lewis ! We all miss you !
Marnell was on a massive trajectory. He was putting out parts that were improving and his trick selection was continually growing. His noriety spawned when P-Rod, Rodgers, Nyjah, etc just came to form. If you were paying attention, this was a tough crowd to get ahead of and he was still emerging like Shane was. I remember Shane’s 1st line in the like light. (Nollie flip crook than a front shove nosegrind revert). They busted out of their shells together. I love that his skating still stands in the ever progressing era of skating. Great edit
Straight up couldn’t agree more 😶 I know he’s reg but haven’t watched any of his footy in awhile and literallyyy couldn’t figure out which stance he was until like halfway through the damn edit 🤭 Insanee
I got diagnosed with type 1 in 2012 and was told to give up skating, but I found out days later that Lewis, one of my favorite skaters, was also type 1! He inspired me to keep skating. Was devastated when he passed mere months later from the very disease that I connected with him on. He was a great skater and, from every source, a seemingly fantastic person. His style is still a treat and it's a shame we will be missing so much of it Thanks for the edit in 2022! Any ongoing Lewis footage is definitely appreciated.
yeah folks, never tell them kids that something like that isn't possible! I read about a german pro skater, that when he were younger, they told him, he never will be able to some sports or maybe hard sports or skateboarding (it's a while), because the one leg was a little bit longer than the other one. So there I have this from, because he's quite a good skater with huge pop! So, it's really kinda everything possible. Crazy, I read this over 12 years ago, but I still remember this and his name: Jo Lorenz!
@@dangeric_ Diabetics have poor circulation and weak nerves so things like your feet and hands are particularly susceptible to permanent nerve loss/numbness. Your body as a whole also heals much slower in general because of it. It's why they make things like socks and gloves specifically for diabetics and why sports particularly prone to injury like skating don't have as many diabetics. This on top of managing blood sugar and dehydration, but that goes with any extended sports/exercise.
I was diagnosed at the age of 18 with type 1 diabetes. I’m now 37 and I’ve been skating playing ball the whole time. Nerve damage occurs when you don’t take care of yourself. As long as you monitor your blood sugar, and try to eat healthy you will be fine. Diabeties had never shown me down. Just keep in touch with your endocrinologist, and eye doctor. Get a pump and a Dexcom too. They are game changers. Your doctor is a fool for telling you that.
Are you diabetic? You sound like you’re just reading shit, or telling him things you’ve been taught. All the shit you’re talking about is if you don’t manage your blood sugar. I heal the same as always. I’m not weaker.
Lewis visited my hometown when I was in highschool, not for a skateboard trip/tour, but travelling with his girl at the time to visit her parents. He heard skateboard kicks snapping down below in the street. So he came down, asked for a go of one of our boards,(as he didnt bring his) and about 2 minutes into talking to my friends and I, I realised who he was, asked if he rode for Volcom and he said yes. Introduced himself, and he kicked it with us for a few hours some days. Lewis was one of the most humble, genuine, caring people to ever step foot on planet earth. RIP LM
I’m probably a bit older than you, I remember a young 10 year old Louie at Prahran bowl. He was a sponsored rollerblader and was doing backflips and all that shit. One day he turned up with a skateboard. He said “I quit rollerblading because it’s too easy”. The rest is history.
Thanks Middzy. I went to Shepparton once with Ronnie in about 2003-4. He said his young mate Nugget was coming. I watched Shane that day and thought “yeah, he’s ok”.
Wouldn’t even say I’m a fan of April but mad respect for making this man, definitely proof Shane hasn’t forgotten where he came from. Shoutout from home down under 🤘🏻
@@tristanindrisek2396 oh I see haha I was very confused. I thought there were like multiple types of skaters categorized that I wasn’t aware of. are there any skaters with type 2? That seems even more unlikely
I have never seen Lewis skate, and as I read the comments and learn of his passing it makes this part so much deeper. One love and Raspect. so styleee.
RIP Lewis Marnell He will forever be at the top of my favorite skateboarders list. Great style & always good vibes transmitting through his footage. Thank you for posting this Shane & April skateboards
Marnell was such a unique and incredible skateboarder! RIP!! One of the best styles and trick selection ever! He was one of the reasons back in the day why i was hyped about skating sb dunks! (;
Man I didn't think about it until seeing this...Lewis would have been PERFECT for April. Shane probably thought about him the whole time he was working on his own board company. Lewis would be so proud of you Shane. Two of the steeziest to ever do it.
remember skating with lewis back in the g-spot stockholm days, he was maybe like 12 yrs old and still better and more steezy than all the other guys in scandinavia. he then grew up to be the best he became. one of skateboardings best talents ever, such a loss. rip.
First time I ever saw Lewis K. Marnell was in the Volcom Chicagof video.. after that he was the kid wearing all the dope dunks with stylish and difficult tricks! P-Rod is my favorite skater but Lewis had that same kind of aura he just didn't live long enough for it to bloom... RIP Lewis Marnell, Van Wastel and Shane Cross🍻🍻🍻🕯🕯🕯
I love Lewis the style and the happiness he brings to me whenever he skated. I never knew him personally but he made and impact and showed me positivity in skateboarding. Lewis forever!
What a way to start my morning. This dude is the reason I actually tried a pair of sb dunk hi's and loved em. They're the only nikes I really like beside project ba. RIP lewis marnell. I got into your skating way too late but damn you were dope
I’ll never forget going to a demo at the Brooklyn banks in 2005 or 2006 and Lewis was there. He broke his board trying to heel flip over the 10 stair rail and borrowed Dustin Dollins board and landed it. Then I saw him in volcom chicagof and been a fan since. RIP
Shane has always been great it seems, and RIP Lewis Marnell. I had a green Almost Impact board it was definitely a Lewis Marnell board, but I had no idea who he was at the time.
