Ive seen Warnie do so many of these instruction videos where he is basically telling batsmen how to pick him (while still playing and not retired). Im sure many batsmen over the years studies these videos and he still got so many wickets. Pretty amazing bowler Warne was and hopefully some young kids watch some of these and become the next great bowler.
I think you may have a point. I was a fast medium bowler before getting a foot injury with lasting damage, so I had to try different bowling styles as I can't keep charging in. I have long fingers and whenever I used the leg spin technique it always turned off spinwise, and has taken me a while to master the leg spin. However, if you love leg spin like i do, it's worth trying to master it, even if off spin comes more naturally
i swear everybody in the Caribbean wanted to bowl like Shane Warne, i just remember watching him verses the west indies, him and brian lara had some serious battles
ya i was actually talking to Terry Jenner the other day about this, and he told me that it also has a lot to do with the position of your body. he said that front on spinners will almost never drift the ball without assistance from the wind, while your more side on spinners will find it much easier
The Greatest bowler of all time the Legend Shane Warne; I just hoped to increase the turn and yes this video makes me do that thankyou Warne and kachhy.
Yeah, as i was younger when the 05' ashes were on i never showed much of an interest in cricket. Then my brother told me to come and watch warne i was just baffled by the amount of spin and i began to bowl leg spin myself. I am now a great leg spinner and it's all down to him so i think he is the best bowler in the world.
A few years ago i won the bowlerof the year award bowling medium pace....but the last few seasons ive taken only 6 or 7 wickets. And practised alot of legspin in the nets which my fellow team matestold me i should try doing. In my last match this season I thought to myself I thought I will bowl some legspin and sweet jesus it was great. I bowled someone and the ball turned a mile and next season I think i will be bowling more of it.
I kinda agree with you. I used to bowl leg spin with a pretty tight control over line, length, trajectory and speed. Due to playing with soft ball, I started bowling fast for a few years only to find out that I lost my action and all of my control when I returned back to bowl leg spin with a hard cricket ball. Pretty sad. I wish if I had someone take a look at my action, specially that hip use to add more spin (that you mentioned), I tried really hard but I just lost it. The whole thing is gone.
now that is what i call a great video...after watching, every match ive played for my club, ive got at least 1 wicket, and i was on a hatrick once because this great man showed the secret of leg spin
if u dont wanna bowl with ur fourth finger, ive got a great piece of advice...have the same grip but make ur middle finger do all the work...u get good control aswell as a lot of spin
I actually consider Murali to be greater than Warne for myriad reasons, but i must admit that listening to Warne discuss bowling is fascinating, especially the part where he said that he focuses on what shot he wants the batsman to play when delivering. All my life I've been told by coaches to focus on the spot where you want to land the ball! Pretty interesting, and if it worked for him, it must be good.
the shiny side of the ball shuld be facing ur palm when u bowl.. that way when u release the rough side will be toward legside (assuming its a right hander) and therefore drift into the right hander.
thnkz for the advice mate... do u have any tips on controlling the line and length apart from practice because that is another thing i have huge problems with as controlling leg spin is particularly hard...also (sorry if im now getting on ur nerves lol) any idea on how to drift the ball because i remember the reason warne had the ball of the centuary was because it drifted so much thankz
@akkster90 No there is difference between Slider and Flipper I personally as a Leg spinner have the experience. In both Flipper & Slider the ball will float to a fuller length but Flipper will keep itself more low than Slider. Although both are Back Spinners but Flipper is used to bring the batsman to backfoot and Slider is used to deceive the batsman that its a Leg Break but it doesn't turn.
the area you are gunna always try to aim for is for the ball to pitch in the line of middle and off stump and full enough that if the batsman misses, its gonna be hitting or just missing the wicket. if you are gonna ball the wrong un, then pitch it outside off stump so if the batsman thinks uve balled a bad ball, he'll either try and hit it, or leave it, and because itll spin into him, its bound to be out!
one thing he doesnt mention is that for the googly, you have to get your arm almost above your head, gives it more flight and dip. helped me get the wrong un right
i can spin the ball both ways into and out of batsmen but the problem is that i sometimes bowl either a very good maiden over or get slapped for quite a few runs in the next. man spin bowling is hard, and it puts u down when ur first over is costly and ur not brought on for the rest of the match
Shane Warne's wroung un looks like how Murali bowls his offbreaks. He bowled his wrong un differently to the over pronounced top spinner he told people to bowl. The action is the same one for Warne's slider too, only the wrist instead of imparting overspin off break hybrid, produces a leg break type spin with no over spin or top spin, and spins a lot less than his leg break.
the thing i usually do is i give the ball flight but my middle finger does all the spinning so in a way i spin down on the ball and dont manage to get the seam shap warnie gets...wenever i try it i always manage to do overspin....but for some reason my leg spin spins a lot...any problem with that??
quite good tips but theres much more to legspin bowling much more like trying to get the ball to drift through the air and dip its quite hard to do believe me but I kept practising and can do it now
keanu, i assume u mean bouced high? that is because he is bowling on the out field. the reson why the flipper skids is that the under spin makes the trajectory straigten, and on a hard pitch this skids on, on a soft pitch or outfield the ball can dig in and bounce
okay... i dont usually share this secret with anyone coz its one of the big reasons i get a huge amount of turn....everything shane warne has told you about spinning up, forget that....when u want rip with the middle finger, you try and spin downwards...eg have the same grip and all, but at the last second spin down on the ball...this makes the ball go very fast and spin a lot... only problem is that u dont get drift or a lot of bounce
love the fact he is saying "look you wont get a wicket every 2-3 balls...you may get smacked around but stick with it and have fun" thats good cricket IMO no " MUST GET A WICKET EVERY BALL OR ILL DIE!"
I don't know waht you are talking but the thing that I know that Off Spinners cannot perform Flipper although they can do Arm ball (Slider). I might add Overspinner and Backspinners are different as Magnus Effect is very different on both the balls. And Classicfication is a bit diferent :- 1.) Leg Spinner is Stock Delievery, Same for Off sipnner. 2.) Top Spinner is an Overspinning delivery. 3.) Flipper and Slider (Arm ball) are Back Spinners. 4.) Googly and Doosra Opposite to Stock delivery.
i've been playing for about a year, and im a leg spinner. i've figured out my leggie, wrongun, slider and top spinner, and im working on the flipper. my problem is i can drift my leggie away from the right hander, but not in. anyone know how to drift a ball in?
I am a leg spinner and missed a catch off my bowling last week 'cos I didnt follow through. Still got 2 wickets and could have had 5... Tomorrow I will follow through better!
yeah thats wat i meant tomo but umm when im bowling with my fast bowl for my cricket team under 12 my ball goes really high and one thing actually happened very wierd at todays match i got a magic wicket it went in between the state champions legs dude! man it was so cool i was the player of the match and i actually spin bowled it which is my main bowl
ever tried off spin?? i have short fingers but strong wrists, so leg spin is easier for me. But if you have longer fingers, off spin may come more naturally...
I've been lucky enough to face Warne's bowling (and have a beer after) and I can say he's one of the nicest blokes in cricket. To those who have labelled him x y and z, So what if he's taken a few drugs and boozed up in his life? most people do. Beefy, Flintoff, Tuffers...the list goes on and on.
@ToshiSabriVideos - Don't know how to tell you this, but Murali is an OFF spinner, Warney is a LEG spinner, it's kinda dumb making comparisons between different bowlers. Two great bowlers, period.
thr r a few reasons y i prefer LS to OS tho...with offspin, the batsman has a better chance of prdicting where the ball is gonna spin coz he just has to get outside the line of the ball and defend so he cant be out LBW, the best chance of an offspinner is to get thru the gate, or LBW, and if he gives a doosra, thrs a fair chance itll miss the bat With LS, its different. he makes the batsman play, coz if he dosnt, he can be out in everyway! flight is very easy to for a LS by using fourth finger
