Great video! A few notes if anyone is curious: 1. Green license card of a car suggests it is an EV or a hybrid. 2. It is a weekend morning. So the traffic is not heavy. And only few people on the street. It is still cold in the early spring. 3. You can see many guys drive fast on a scooter, either in blue or yellow. They are deliverymen. I guess it is busy hour for breakfast delivery in the video. 4. It seems the video emphasizes business zones of Shanghai. But there are many other places more casual, comfortable or vibrant for daily lives. Also, there are many traditional buildings in Shanghai, not only high skyscrapers. 5. Not like in the video, I don’t think Shanghai is that car- centric( especially when you compare to many cities in US). You can enjoy the city by walking or a bicycle.
I am from India. Visited China in 2013 as a 10 day Group Tour. Visited 5 cities: Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Shenzhen and Shanghai. Truly amazing cities all. Was in Shanghai for last 3 days and it is wonderful city with world class infrastructure. Travelled by the Maglev train too
should try and visit again.. 2013 was more than 10 years ago.. China has moved on another decade.. China change dramatically every 6 months.. seriously.. let alone 10 years
@@孔繁恪I am indian definitely I will love to visit china in future. China has proved that to change nation only few decades are necessary. Hope until 2035 india will be same personally many indians like china and want to solve border problem with peace and co-operate in development
Indian here. I can't help myself but wonder what decades of vision, planning and cooperation can lift a nation which was destroyed by the British and the Japanese into the envy of the world. Thanks to the 50s, 60s and 70s born Chinese people. You guys have sacrificed your ENTIRE life building this beautiful country up from dirt poverty. I don't have words to express my feelings. It's really sad to see the neo-colonialists backed by the US and G7 is hell bent on stopping the growth of this nation. Keep up with the vision. You guys are already past that stage where big bullys can hurt you. Now you don't hae to worryabout anything. Also I reall hope both India and China solve all our border issues and start cooperating in all the areas of trade and developement.
communism is the enemy of India. when dead bodies were burning in India during covid then Chinese communist party compared the china itself as developed nation sending rockets in the sky and India releasing smoke of dead bodies meanwhile people in china immediately slammed news media for showcasting such painful comparison @@zhuanzhenfan
@@zhuanzhenfanChina and India have shared a border without any issues for millenia. A lot of external documentation of ancient India comes from ancient Chinese travellers. Most Indians have a positive view on China and Chinese people (Aside from the border issues)
you love a communist country with surveillance of society and social credit and closing cities by a harmless virus when the whole world has already let go, not bad
I love China the way it is: including its impressive metropolises, wonderful countryside and villages, 5000 years of history and culture, and last but not least, my beautiful wife. ❤ Greetings from Chengdu city, the capital of Sichuan province. 😊
as an Indian, i really appreciate the hard work of the Chinese people ,that they have such great cities. Also, many vehicles are EVs which is a good thing.
The development of China is remarkable. I hope one day nations can stop fighting/arguing and develop to a green, clean and modern world together, with freedom and prosperity for everyone. Greetings from a european.
I am a Chinese and I am proud to live in China! China is a very safe country and the people here are very friendly. China is not as chaotic as RU-vid makes it out to be

About 20 years ago, when I was a high school student, I visited Shanghai for the first time from Japan. It reminds me of the scenery back then. Thank you for posting.
Everything about China seems amazing to me, the order of its system, the cleanliness of its streets, everything looks impeccable and works. Chinese culture has always seemed super interesting to me, from its philosophy of life, and its ability to manage its mental states. All of this has been reflected in why today it is a super power, if not the world power. As Napoleon well said: “Let China sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world”.
@@NirajKumar-wb5hg tell your fellow mainland india people to respect everyone 🙃 I've been staying in Delhi for 1 years at tht time I face lots of racists people
I used to live 5 minutes away from the Shanghai Museum, and seeing these familiar scenes makes me nostalgic. Thank you very much for the video you shot.
I love China, I always listen to Radio China International every night on shortwave from Italy, and I follow the social pages of the Consulate of Milan and Radio China. Shanghai is a beautiful city, despite the massive urbanization, the road system is enviable. Often in many parts of Italy, even in rich regions, we have a road and rail network from the Middle Ages. I feel a slight envy to your beautiful city! ❤❤
Hi, Max! Shanghai is a financial and cultural center, an ancient and at the same time a modern city in China! When I was studying in Ningbo, I went to Shanghai once a month to explore new areas of Shanghai, there are a lot of interesting places. The trip around the city is very educational Thank you Max !!👍!
The urban and regional planning is impressive. Notice the blended open space throughout China and the approach to the metropolitan statistical areas are tree lined and clean, very clean.
Ah yes, Shanghai - arguably my most favourite and desired place of China, I truly hope one day I could visit this wonderful state-of-the-art city! Many thanks once again for sharing the truth of what goes on in various regions around China - really insightful to see the liveliness and prosperity within the country. 🐉🤩👍
@@PB-zu6bn and you ignore the truth, but if you want to carry on blindly following the biased rhetoric of “China Bad” then that’s your own problem buddy.
This is by far the most Developes City Infrastructure in the entire world. Led by Human Resources alone and their indomitable spirit to reach for the Moon and Beyond!
It’s because it’s new. Cities that are booming and new tend to look great. After a certain point, the infrastructure starts to age and the maintenance costs go up.
@@MrZozue Most of Shanghai was built in the last 3 decades. In comparison, New York has had almost the same population in 1950 as it does today. Hence, New York has much older housing stock, high-rises, subway, and general infrastructure. In addition, New York does not have a friendly state or federal gov’t to provide it with the necessary funds to keep the city in good shape. This means New York is largely left to fund on its own and it explains why the city seems neglected compared to other major global cities. Shanghai does not have any of these problems.
Imagine our ancestors who in ancient times tried to unite China, such as Liu Bei, Cao Cao, Sun Quan, Guan Yu, etc, seeing the New China as it is today, they would be very proud 🇨🇳👍🏼
I gotta admit. China has really grown and developed so much in the past few years. Imagine how much they will grow up ahead. Not the old China anymore but a new China 🇨🇳. Modern and growing more stronger.
And US is declining. Hey bro why you people do nonsense acts like woke things and decrease the productivity of your country overall. Sometimes i thought how much US would been if it hadn't stopped their Apollo program in 1972 and used American Tax payer money to fight Vietnam War, gulf War, Middle East wars etc etc. Military deployment is okay to sustain American hegemony but you people wasted some 10 trillion dollar in fighting useless wars. Imagine if that money goes into Apollo program how much powerful America would be today huh? Definitely by now they will had developed perfect lunar economy by 2023. Or used in American education system then US don't need to import talent from other nations. Also their immigrant problem will be solved.
I have been to Shanghai by travel during my college days with my friends, and I miss the city. I used express train(高铁) to go to Beijing and Suzhou from Shanghai at that time. I want to go travel to China again soon. Thanks for the video. From Korea
I am speechless 🙊 not a single trash on the streets and not a single homeless person....I see why the United States of America 🇺🇸 have so much jealousy, hate and greed against the most calm country on the planet 🇨🇳💪
I don't think the entire China looks like Shanghai, do you? They have streets riddled with trash and poor people too, but of course they are not present in the financial downtown area. Lol.
China is an example of Asian country of how a country should grow despite Western pressure and sanctions. The west always wants us asians down. I am glad that there is power in Asia that can challenge the western hegemony. I wish India and China stop fighting and grow together.I hope the Indian government learns something how to build planned infrastructure. Love from India. ❤️
I'm chinese living in the us I totally agree. India and china should stop fighting over the tiny useless land at the border. People from both countries are peaceful, disciplined, education and family oriented. India's software + china's hardware, no one in the world can stop us.
you cant even demonstrate normal in your country.. also the fact you have any succes are western values. If you would remain communist in economics also you would be gone..
Since 2015, car honking has been banned within the inner ring road of Shanghai's elevated highways, making the city quieter and more comfortable. In addition, if a car fails to yield to pedestrians at an uncontrolled crosswalk without traffic signals, the driver will receive a penalty of 3 demerit points and a fine of 100 yuan. As a result, you can see vehicles in the video politely giving way to pedestrians.
Last time when I was in Shanghai, the taxi driver told me some intersections have radar to locate which car honked. That's an adoption of military technology. But it's used for civilian purpose.
China should ban honking all over China and should iincludethe electric bikes as well. Turning right at red light should also be banned making crossing the street for pedestrians safer.
Congratulations to whoever captured these images. The photography really enhanced the scenes on a beautiful sunny day, which gave the video extra charm.👏👏👏👏👏
seriously japan, souty Korea, taiwan , china , Singapore are so well developed and so clean and beautiful, aesthetic cities unfortunately india doesn't have this much clean cities
上海我爱你~ It's nice to see how far Shanghai has developed since the early 2000s when I visited as a child. Hope there is another walking tour video paired with this driving one. ^^
As an Indian, I agree that china did an extreme development and advancement... As I am known Shanghai is a financial capital of China, a city with beautiful skyline and infrastructure, front runner of the nation which came out from the extreme poverty.
Wow, I don’t think I could ever live in a city that big. 😂 too stressful. but it’s really beautiful and clean. I can’t imagine how much building such a city must’ve cost in total !
I grow up in Beijing, a megacity, i have dreamed about living in a small city. You are right, big city could be cool for living but also very very stressful.
Democracy hai bhai wahan . Abhi yogiji vrindavan ko develop ka rahe toh vahan ke pagal kuch logon ne dharm badalne ki baat kahi . To tu soch le phir , har jagah lg vote dene se mana karte hain agar common good ke liye unke thodi si b problem ho
2 things I noticed 1) Half the cars were electric 2) Not much traffic maybe because of properly built city plan, in Delhi no matter what time it is there is always traffic everywhere and only 1-2 main road to travel huge distances so those roads have very high traffic, thats all because of bad city design.
I lived there for 5 years, left in 2019 due to COVID: 1) Most cars bought after 2016 are EVs because license plates in Shanghai are very expensive (almost as expensive as the car itself) and you can't even get it most of the time without winning a lottery for it. But if you buy EVs, the government allows you to have a free or cheaper license plate registration. 2. Shanghai is divided into two portions by the river: Pudong and Puxi. The footage you're seeing is mostly Pudong (the first hour anyways). I lived right where that big red traditional looking building is (built for world expo about 10 years ago). Pudong is brand new (was mostly villages and farm lands 20-30 years ago) so the layout is very good with proper planning and wide roads with bike lanes. Most of the denser traffic is on the Puxi side of Shanghai.
From the point of view of an observer who comes from the "Western Hemisphere" where China is presented as a country where the citizens are denied everything that seems worth living in, one can only look in amazement at how happy, free and apparently quite worth living the life of the Chinese is, at least in the metropolises appears! All I can say, Chinese, is that you can be proud of your country and of your leadership, even if there are certainly points of criticism and improvements. In countries that like to criticize your government like a high school teacher, they probably only do so out of stupid ignorance of how far you have come in the meantime. Your mix of bread and butter and stick seems to work much better for the majority of the population than in countries that have taken up the cause of maximum freedom for every citizen and are becoming entangled in increasingly inefficient processes. You Chinese walk on the better path.
Thank you! Great drive around. The City Center looks really urban, with personally designed skycrapers and wide roads and trees too. As mentioned, due to early morning ride in weekend, the traffic was amazingly low. The city have many nice suburbs too. It would be nice to have a glimpse of them too. Keep up your good, steady camera work! Great vlog 👍
only Chinese/Japanese cities could be that big in population and still be that neat & clean. check western highly populated cities like New York, London how trashy those are let's not even mention other Asian highly populated junkpile cities like Mumbai or Manila.
