Documentary by Tashi Motup Kau on Ladakh (India). It describes the prehistoric period, historical development and present time of this fascinating former Himalayan kingdom.
Himalaya my birth place, variety of different culture, beautiful land formation, famous rivers, popular medicinal plants and humble persons are the heart of this region.
It is not just one tribe but all from Mongolia, Tibet, Himachal, Indo-aryan were settle in ladakh. It's a one the most heterogeneous population of world.
This is best documentary and description of the legendary mythical place called Shangri-La. I thoroughly enjoyed the oration and images describing Shangri-La in your video . Ladakh appears to be more like Shangri-La than the location China claims as Shangri-La in Yunnan Province. Check out my RU-vid music video of Shangri-La. I think it shows some of the same places as you show in your video. It also shows the 1000 hand Buddha dance.
You skipped the 72000 sq Km of this region which is in Pakistan now called as Gilgit Baltistan. About 2 million People of same ancestors as in Ladakh are living this side. In 16 Century there was a state called as Balti Yul starting from Ladakh all across Chitral In Pakistan comprising Chitral , Gilgit , Skardu (Pakistan) Leh , kargil (India) and Aqsai Chin (in China ) The Castles , Palace and things used by that time ruler "Anchan" still exisits in Skardu of Pakistan. Any Ladakahi Historian correct me if am wrong ... A balti guy from Skardu.
Excellent documentary film with awesome narration, where we got to know the history of Ladakh formation in the Himalayas but the resolution of the film is poor... Please watch this film.
Ladakh a mystery in creation of the earth. a place must to feel before death to know the historical, geographical, cutural, traditional and any in the life of the human.
Tourism has ruined the Ladakh culture and way of life which is the opposite to what this documentary makes out. The book "Ancient Futures" is a great insight to this.
Tourism improved the standards of living and makes the local people rich . They now know about solar energy , study to innovate , preserving their culture too .
time for living in isolation is over..If they had continued to live in isolation , they would had been destroyed by modern imperialist ..India is giving them new skill to match the life of 21st century in scientific world
Could you elaborate on the point as to how modern imperialist would have destroyed them if they continued living in isolation ? Changpa people have been living their simplistic, content, nomadic life for thousands of years without needing any outside support. Yeah better medical facilities is certainly a huge plus point for them if provided.
Shangrila is derived from Shambala the mythical warrior the Tibetan Buddhist believe when the world comes to an end due to war. These mythical warriors will save the world from destruction. Tibetan also called the Vietnamese the Shambala as they defeated Chinese under Deng Xiaoping tried to invade Vietnam but was unsuccessful.
